A Colorful Way to Learn to Code: imagi App Review
Try this visual approach to programming.
Try this visual approach to programming and learn Python.
Created to address the gender gap in tech, imagi invites girls ages 8 to 13 to jump into digital creation by combining coding and interactive art.
What we love: How kids can learn the basics of Python while fashioning adorable pixel critters and other designs. The imagiChallenges have kids put their coding skills to the test by drawing their favorite food, making an animation of their favorite sport, or re-creating a beloved game character. Finished designs can be shared as fun backgrounds and stickers.
Quick tip: The Remix function lets young coders collaborate with others in the imagi community—just tap the swirl icon next to a design to put a unique spin on someone else’s code. (The original creator can see all the remixes of their work by tapping the Remix button.)
Meet the creator: The app began as an academic research project, and, true to its mission, has involved students in its development. So far the youngest has been a high school junior.
