### 3/5 — Only the beginning is free

*2021-06-14, version 2.2.11*

This is a good app, but you only get the first few days free. Once you get to a certain level you need to pay to unlock the rest.

### 4/5 — Locked out - fixed

*2021-01-26, version 2.2.10*

I purchased the sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, and squats package and now I’m locked out and they won’t answer my email.

Zen labs contacted us and unlocked the account.

### 1/5 — $

*2020-12-23, version 2.2.5*

I paid a few bucks for this app years ago and have used it for years. It’s a glorified chart telling you how any sets of how many reps to do each day. It’s basic, nothing worth paying this surprise monthly subscription Zen labs is foisting upon us to double dip I into our pockets.

### 1/5 — Was good till Dec 2020 Update

*2020-12-22, version 2.2.5*

Suddenly unusable as they look to monetise with zero warning. Worse still if you decide to try the 7 day trial and then see if you find $4.99 a month worth it you just get a product unavailable message so you can’t even give them your money. Yes its the price of a coffee a month but of course we all have so many subscriptions these days it becomes a lot of coffee....I was enjoying the apps previously so will give the monthly plan a go IF they fix it quickly but if not will look elsewhere.

### 1/5 — Avoid this one

*2020-12-21, version 2.2.5*

I paid for the app originally - now since the recent update everything is locked out and developer wants me to pay for a subscription that I don’t need!!

### 1/5 — Scam

*2020-12-21, version 2.2.5*

Do not buy - they only give you 2 weeks access. The rest to get to 200 situps need a monthly subscription.

### 1/5 — Do not upgrade! Loses all features.

*2020-12-20, version 2.2.5*

Do not upgrade as the latest version allows access to the full workout challenge only if you subscribe to their monthly plan. The “unlimited free” wording is scam because it is only for a limited period.
Rip off and zero warning this would happen.
I am appalled!!

### 1/5 — I have to pay for a subscription to apps I already bought....?

*2020-12-20, version 2.2.5*

I already purchased the xxx push-ups/sit-ups/squats pack way back in the day and now you’re going to lock me out of the later weeks of an app I already paid for? If you want to move to a new payment style for new users, fine, but it seems like a real crock to not grandfather in users who already paid for the pack, even if there’s more “functionality” now. Good job on adding the ability to change music from inside the app, I guess? Not like I can’t just, ya know, play music from iTunes or Spotify and swipe down?

I don’t even care if you just gave me the old app, or make the old app available for use instead of the new one. I don’t need the new one, it’s new color scheme, etc. I didn’t ask for this and don’t want it.

### 1/5 — Very unhappy

*2020-12-20, version 2.2.5*

Like many of the reviewers have said in prior reviews, I paid money for this app months ago. Now all of a sudden, it won’t let me use the app unless I pay a subscription. If you want new users to pay a subscription, fine. But existing users who paid money for the app should be grandfathered in.

### 1/5 — DON’T UPDATE

*2020-12-20, version 2.2.5*

New update is trash. Forcing a subscription model. I want a refund!

### 1/5 — Bait and Switch!

*2020-12-20, version 2.2.5*

This is unworthy of a $5 a month subscription for a simple interval that you can do with a stopwatch and a spreadsheet.

Ridiculous!

### 1/5 — Money Grabbers

*2020-12-19, version 2.2.5*

I have been an avid user of this app for months, and have used it it was in early stages of release, and it's slowly gotten better over the years.

However, after paying to buy the app and completing 6 weeks of the course, I got on today to see that they sprung a subscription service in order to move on in the portion of the app I've gotten to. I've used money to USE the app and it HAD the functionality, but they locked it up until I pay money to use it again. I find this completely unfair and unreasonable to subject me to paying for a pass that I've already been working on for months prior to today.

I'm severely disappointed with how this was handled.

### 1/5 — Apps updated and the locked me out of paid for features

*2020-12-18, version 2.2.5*

I purchased a few of their apps, in a package deal, a while ago to support them for all the help they’ve given me in the past and today (12/18/2020) they just updated them and now all four apps are telling me I need to subscribe to gain access to features I already unlocked after I paid for them.

### 1/5 — Update removes your access

*2020-12-18, version 2.2.5*

0 stars. Your iOS update today removed all access to the app after purchasing it a few months ago!
I want my access back or I want a refund as I purchased push up/sit-up/pull-up challenges!

### 1/5 — Weasels!

*2020-12-18, version 2.2.5*

You just locked me out of my push-up tracking to go to a subscription model. I already bought your whole bundle and now you want more money. You should really let folks who already paid keep what they paid for. Oh well, but while I am here here’s the review:

The app is fine for the $1 I paid. It makes it so you just show up and do what it says. But you can’t adjust the rest times or anything and spend a lot of time clicking through things. I was already considering switching to just tracking things myself anyways but I had spent $1 so I guess I stuck with it. Thanks for making that decision easier, I guess.

### 1/5 — Subscription price is way too expensive

*2020-12-18, version 2.2.5*

I had four Zen apps that I had been using for a while. Push-ups, squats, sit-ups, and pull-ups. All were full access. No grace period or discount on the new plan. I’ll be deleting all four apps.

### 1/5 — They locked all features and usability in the app when I already paid for it

*2020-12-18, version 2.2.5*

I already paid full price for this app for full functionality and they just updated it to block access to the apps functionality without a subscription. I ALREADY PAID FOR IT AND SHOULDNT NEES A SUBSCRIPTION!

Their loss, I can find thousands of apps to replace them without being held to a subscription after I already forked out money for an unlocked version.

### 1/5 — Waste of time and money

*2020-02-16, version 2.2.4*

I have used this series of apps for a very long time with the hope of seeing some improvement, to no avail.
-There is no ability to make the training regime specific to you - everybody must follow the same pattern.
-The gradation of difficulty is not suitable for progress - it feels like the set/rep patterns have just been pulled out of thin air. It always seemed strange to me that the higher reps were at the end of the set when you are tired rather than closer to the start or middle.
-There is no facility for offloading if you feel unable to hit the set/rep targets - so you have to manage this in some other way.
-The apps timer doesn’t work if you leave the app - so you can’t do anything else on your phone between sets without losing time.
-The developers say they respond to all feedback but given I have pointed this out and they haven’t replied then I guess that’s not right either.
-After a long time of trying, I have never completed any of these apps and have not found them to be beneficial other than as a motivational tool.
-My advice, try something else.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Rip Off

*2026-08-15, version 3.1*

UPDATE: I do not care if you added features! If you sell something to someone permanently you can’t just take access away because you want more money. Since I posted this I used Ai to build a free replacement of your app in less than 5 minutes so I won’t need your “free” 3 months that you offered.

I purchased this app only for them to take it away for me because “ given the current economic environment, we had to change our business model.” I don’t understand how I can purchase something permanently and you just remove my access because you need to make more money.

### 1/5 — Used to be free

*2026-02-23, version 2.56*

Used to be a free app on the last platform I used now they want you to sign up for premium after 2 weeks and lock the rest.

### 1/5 — Always opens to community highlight

*2023-12-12, version 2.50*

The app never opens directly to the workout but instead always opens to a community highlight. Also, there is no opting to change the workout intensity based on fitness level.

### 1/5 — ACCESS BLOCKED AFTER APP PURCHASED

*2021-01-29, version 2.2.10*

I purchased a few apps from Zen Labs Fitness in 2019 with the understanding that it was a one time purchase.

Now I’m locked out of my apps because of a forced subscription. Multiple emails to customer service to fix the issue have been ignored. Beware.

### 1/5 — This company does bait and switch.

*2021-01-22, version 2.2.10*

Two years ago I paid $29.99 for their unlimited running and weight training app. Since then (last month) they “changed their model” and have a subscription service. Never mind my contract. Never mind their word. If I want to access portions of some of the apps I PAID for in full I have to pay $10 a month.

Not worth it.

These are simple apps no one should pay $10/ month for. Add to that that they lie and go back on their word, why work with them at all.

And when I email support they send me to Apple for a refund. Apple will not refund a two year old purchase no matter what their contract says.

This company is irresponsible and they are liars. Stay away. Stay far away. Give them none of your money.

### 1/5 — Scammers!

*2021-01-22, version 2.2.10*

I paid for this and other apps in one of their bundles. Now they’ve pulled the rug out from under me and made this a stupid subscription-based app with freaking ads! This is unconscionable!

### 1/5 — It was a really good app...

*2021-01-07, version 2.2.8*

Until it wants more money.
I paid for the app, and then at the last update, it now requires a monthly subscription. Why would I pay twice?

### 1/5 — Subscription

*2020-12-27, version 2.2.6*

Another developer drops paid app for subscription. There are plenty of apps that don’t have subscriptions. Don’t fall for the trap.

### 1/5 — App revoked purchases

*2020-12-24, version 2.2.6*

I paid for this app and now this update removed all the features and wants a subscription. Your app developer license should be revoked.

### 1/5 — I paid for apps now have to pay again

*2020-12-23, version 2.2.6*

I paid full price for the set of these apps for full access now they have locked my apps and trying to charge me $4.99 a month for unlimited access. What a joke. Why did I have to pay for them in the first place ?
