## What is 1?

Whether you're a competitive lifter or just want to improve your strength and fitness, your one-rep max (1RM) is an essential tool. Calculate your max safely and easily, and then track it over time, on any lift with our easy-to-use calculator!

In the simplest terms, your 1RM is the amount of weight you can lift for one rep on any given lift. In general, it’s good to know your max for key lifts like the squat, bench press, and deadlift, but your 1RM is critical even if you never plan to train that heavy.

Many lifting programs are designed with a percent of your rep max in mind, and may call for something like using 65% of your 1RM for a given exercise. When you see that, you have to either test for your 1RM or estimate it. Testing your 1RM can be pretty intense, and it requires a high degree of caution to avoid injury.

Fortunately, you can estimate your 1RM without testing it! Exercise scientists have devised a formula that's fairly accurate for most people, which is what powers this calculator. Our calculator makes it easy to calculate and track your 1RM and multiple percentages of it for every lift in the book!

Features:

· Calculate your 1RM and percentages

· Choose from a variety of lifts (deadlift, bench press, squat, etc.), or add your own

· Track and chart your 1RM history for each type of lift

· Add notes each time you calculate your 1RM

· Improve your weight training with articles by Bodybuilding.com experts

· Choose imperial or metric system

· Incredibly easy to use!

### 4/5 — Great but….

*2026-06-12*

Love the app and have literally used it for years. One thing it needs is a view of workouts by name instead of by date, because it’s a little hard to find a previous workout type if I haven’t done it in a while because the app lists workouts according to actual workout dates rather than type. But I think most people are not interested in the bench they did three times ago (and it’s in every individual dates thing anyway) but are more likely looking for a type of workout. Please make this change and reach out to me if this isn’t clear.

### 5/5 — Great for calculating reps

*2025-07-07*

Great for calculating one rep max and predicting number of reps at different weights. It also saves your maxes. It would be nice if the saved maxes would show max weight for different amounts of reps.

### 2/5 — Numbers won’t work

*2023-08-12*

Can’t type 3-9 numbers in “reps”, buttons just won’t work. Tried to delete and re install the app, no result.

Also it would be nice to have the option to count uneven numbers like something.5kg

### 5/5 — Good but could be better

*2023-02-15*

Wish I could have my percentages at all times. But I like the app overall.

### 1/5 — Single digit reps?

*2022-06-13*

I can only enter single digit reps, this app is garbage. What if I did 10 reps? Oh nooo I broke the app.

Enjoy my $2; the only thing worse than theft is discovering the thief was grossly incompetent.

### 3/5 — Links to articles are not working

*2021-06-20*

Links to articles on the app don’t work. Please fix!

### 5/5 — Great, simple app

*2021-02-16*

Cool simple app to track progress. It would be cool if we could see what percentile our max is among lifters.

### 3/5 — Cool

*2021-01-28, version 1.1.0*

Cool app but I don’t like how it starts at 70% and not 50

### 1/5 — I keep getting billed

*2021-01-11*

I keep getting billed for this app. No way of stopping it from what I can find.

### 5/5 — Great chart !

*2020-12-10*

Could you please improve the user interface. It would be useful to select exercise and see the PR max chart. Instead of scrolling thru all the past workouts in order to find the type of exercise I wanna check.

## Frequently asked questions about 1

### What is a 1RM and how does this app calculate it?

Your 1RM (one-rep max) is the maximum weight you can lift for a single repetition on a given exercise. This app uses a scientifically devised formula to accurately estimate your 1RM without requiring you to perform a maximal lift, which can be risky. You input your weight lifted and repetitions, and the app calculates your estimated 1RM.

### What lifts can I track with this app?

The app supports a variety of common lifts such as the deadlift, bench press, and squat. You also have the flexibility to add your own custom lifts if they are not pre-listed. This ensures you can track your progress on all the exercises that are important to your training regimen.

### How does the app help me track my progress?

You can track and chart your 1RM history for each specific lift you record. This visual representation allows you to see how your strength is developing over time. Additionally, you can add notes to each 1RM calculation, providing context for your performance on that day.

### Is this app free to use?

Yes, this application is completely free to use. It does not feature in-app purchases or advertisements, providing a clean and uninterrupted experience for users focused on their strength training calculations and tracking.

### What are the benefits of knowing my 1RM?

Knowing your 1RM is crucial for many training programs, as they often prescribe workouts based on percentages of your maximum lift. It helps you gauge your current strength levels, set realistic training goals, and ensure you are lifting appropriately to stimulate muscle growth and strength gains safely.
