  • Fun game, but statistically inaccurate

This is a fun game with great graphics and smooth animations. Unfortunately I think more emphasis was put in the graphics than the entropy necessary to truly randomize the dice rolls. As many others have mentioned, you ca man commit to a 6-dice card and spend the rest of the game trying to roll the necessary dice, and the AI will suddenly swipe the card from you in 1-2 rolls. That’s not to say that can’t happen if playing this came with physical dice and cards. But not likely with the frequency it happens in this game.
If the developers would just replace what they have with some better randomization of the dice, this would be a fantastic game.

Thanks for the feedback! I can assure you that the dice rolls are super random. We randomize the following variables on every dice throw: start position, start rotation, roll force, roll force application point, throw target position. Even after that it can still feel like the AI are cheating, but I assure you that it is just dumb luck. :)
  • Boring

A poor version of Roll n Bump

Thanks for the review - we will check out Roll 'n' Bump... although it doesn't look like it has an app.
  • 5 year old loves it

5 year old loves to play this with me. We play against the 'bad' guys (computer). He likes it when the Troll AI laughs at us. He giggles every time.
There is a small bug though. If you recall your dice and roll before they are all off the screen, you lose those dice on that roll. This is pretty minor though you just need to wait for the animation to finish. I just need to get that 5 year old to learn to wait. :)

Yay! Glad you are enjoying it - we love the Troll... he can be a vexing opponent for sure! :D
  • A very nice little game

Although I am a “ Gamer” and enjoy purely tactical and strategic games ( Terra Mystica, Tigris & Euphrates, Carcassonne etc) my wife doesn’t. She does however enjoy this game which we have played together in the original Purple Box format as opposed to the Digital version. I must say that the digital version captures the game perfectly. We play this in the “ Pass & Play” mode and now prefer it to throwing real Dice and having to occasionally scrabble around under the table to recover a lost Die.

This game is just a bit of fun, so much so that I have purchased the full pack. It’s an easy little game which is very random and Luck weighted. However, there are choices to make in using the correct Dice; so “ Lady Luck” alone won’t always win the game.

It’s a good little game to have on your Mobile for those evenings at the Local Pub when you can “ Pass & Play without having to plunder the depths of your cerebral abilities. At home we use an IPad and usually go for the best of three games, occasionally five as a game doesn’t usually last long.

This is a little time filler game that is enjoyable and well worth the price.

  • Calliope does it again

Tsuro was one of the best translations of a board game to app I’ve seen, and it made me actually buy the physical game I liked it so much. With this, they’ve managed to pull it off again, this time with beautifully satisfying dice rolls. Now if you excuse me, I have to go to amazon to order this little gem to bring home for Christmas.

You, sir, are a scholar and a gentleman. Thanks for the rad review!
  • Not iPhone X optimised

I’d pay for the IAP extras if the game were better suited to iPhone X. Trying to move your dice often results in closing the app from the app bar and half the menu is missing behind the notch. Irritating that there was a patch a month ago and still no iPhone X tweaks. Good game let down by the UI

Thanks for the info... This is on our list for the next update!
  • Random is not so random

The computer inexplicably pulls off near magical moves while the player has a hard time making easy points. Also if the player starts a card, the computer will eventually start and complete that card nearly every time. I truly believe the developer believes this to be a fair game; it is not. No amount of math supports that position. I played the game about a month before deciding to write a review. After more 3 player games (one human and two bots) than I care to count, I have won possibly three times. If you get close to winning the computer will come from no where and win almost every single time.

Hi there. Thanks for your considered review. I'm not sure what to say, as the dice are 100% random - the AI is not connected to the dice rolling at all. I know that sometimes they don't feel that way, but this is most likely positive affirmation bias. Feel free to e-mail us on info@thunderboxentertainment.com and we can chat further, as it sounds like you have investigated thoroughly and we'd love to hear more!
  • Good game

This game is easy to learn how to play and enjoyable..the price is ok for what you get.but other reviews didn’t tell you that you need two people to plan against.you are able to play by yourself but it can be a bit repetitive.
  • I don’t think the dice are random

As the title says. AI dice seem to roll just the right numbers to get 3 or 4 wanted numbers more often than not. Perhaps i am just unlucky, but i don’t think so.

    Developer Response

Thanks for the review - the dice system is not connected to the AI system in any way. We like to keep things real... which can sometimes feel bad if you are unlucky. Stick at it and let us know how you do!
  • Still think it’s rigged

The dev says the AI rolls are the same as human rolls but just bad luck on the users’ end. While that may be true there are enough complaints about the AI that the dev should look into it. I too have rolled close to a dozen times or more without hitting what I need to point. Yet, the AI rolls and places two, three, four dice at a time. The score is almost always something ridiculous, too, like 43, 25, 30, and 4 (me). This happens too often for it to be simply “bad luck” or coincidence. The only thing “clever” about the AI and the way it plays is that it won’t let the human player win. And to those claiming “deeper strategy” this game isn’t rocket science. Strategy can’t account for the entirety of the large difference in score totals. Bottom line: needs some adjustments.

After sitting with 5 dice on one card for 8+ rolls AI comes in and catches ALL 6 DICE in 4 rolls. It’s not a matter of dumbing down the AI. Stop being stubborn and just freaking make the game more fair!!!

Thanks for the feedback. Whilst the game is totally not rigged, a few really unlucky people certainly feel strongly that it is. Maybe we could dumb down the Easy AI a little bit... In the meantime I would suggest avoiding the 15 point cards, and not spreading your dice too thinly - that should give you a better chance of winning! :D
