90% What I Was Looking For
Firstly, this app is great. I recently got it and I know that this app is definitely getting more usage than VSCO just based on the look and feel. I use this app to fine tune digicam photos and it gets me aesthetic that I want. I’ve tested a few of the film stocks and some of them are gorgeous. However, I did wish the app had a few features that would really elevate the app.
1) Zoom Feature: I really wish this app had a zoom feature so I could zoom in and see small changes being made such as using grain and clarity. Would be an amazing upgrade.
2) HSL for Individual Colors: This feature would be amazing. The ability to adjust the Hue, Saturation, and Lightness of specific colors would allow me to fine tune the photos even more so.
3) Halation: Having this would be a nice feature to have
Although I’ve mentioned 3 things that I wish the app had, I really like the app hence why 5/5 stars. I hope they continue to make improvements upon it!Show lessFilm grain Pains 😭
OK let me start off by saying that I really like the film simulations, the app has gotten better from last year however there are two major things that hold it back.
1. When you apply a filter you cannot zoom in the picture to check the grain size and it becomes a huge guessing game when you finalize the picture. This is so essential with any filter app that it’s disappointing that this is not added as a feature yet.
2. The Film Grain is just one type and color. You can change the intensity and size but it’s lacks and leaves so much room for improvement. For example Capture One Mobile has some grain options that are extremely accurate and you get random grains and feels more real. Carbon App also has different types of film grain that beats out the current state of the app. Film grain on the current app looks too much like high iso, and with so many different film simulations I’m perplex on why this is not available.
I really enjoy this app Ana hope that Zoom and better grain control and options come in feature updates, until then I’ll change my rating to a solid 5*Show lessDeveloper Response
Thanks for your insightful review and your appreciation for the progress we’ve made with RNI Films. We are always eager to hear from our users, as your experiences guide our improvements. Addressing your concerns: 1. Please kindly note that RNI Films is a tiny little app designed with mobile shooting and social media use in mind, not an editing powerhouse. It is designed to be super-simple, lightweight and affordable. So, the idea of this app is that, while editing, you see exactly what your followers on social media will see. 2. If you're looking for a pro-grade film emulation, we'd recommend you exploring RNI All Films for Adobe Lightroom or Capture One. The latter, of course, is fully compatible with all of the Capture One's advanced grain models. Lastly, we understand the importance of ratings for this little app’s success and future developments. Positive ratings do help supporting our continuous development efforts and introducing new features indeed. So we hope you’ll consider adjusting your rating according to this app's design intent and purpose, as we take your feedback to heart and work towards making RNI Films an even better tool for the community. Thank you once again for your understanding and support.Video Import
Thank you for continually evolving this app and listening to feedback!!
Currently it’s hard to import video, as the app gives no option to search by “videos” and you have to manually search the camera roll.
Beyond this, photos can be selected in the camera roll, and directly shared with RNI. Videos do not have the option of direct share from camera roll to app.
// A bonus would be to allow multi photo import + perhaps different hierarchy on the save menu, currently the date stamp has a ton of hierarchal focus, but the save button seems like an afterthought, making it sometimes confusing to save.
Thanks for all your work !Show less
