Great show, poor app.
When the app works, it's ok. Navigation is a bit unintuitive but manageable.
The app doesn't seem to make use of the plus sized iPhones. Everything is just larger, and it just looks bloated.
I'm not sure if the developers are really that focused at removing bugs. For the longest time the app drained battery on my and other iPhones at an extraordinary rate. I'm not sure if this has been properly addressed but it seems better... I had to move to Apples podcast app so it's hard to tell.
For quite a while now, the app simply stops streaming and playing downloaded podcasts when switching apps or when the screen switches off. Returning to the app shows it re-springing. This happens on all iPhones in my household across 3 iOS versions. iOS 10, 11, and 12 Beta.
I've been listening to Gareth's great morning show for years, but this app has been a constant spanner in works. The app sees very few updates, so bugs feel like they become part of the furniture.
