Doesn’t work

Will not access non-DRM MP3’s on my iPhone. This app says there are no songs in my library but there are hundreds, and theApple music app has no trouble finding them. I am NOT talking about Apple Music subscriptions!!!! Some of them are my own recordings!!! I have contacted the developer but have received no response. One of my piano students who bought the app has the same problem. Both of us have hundreds of mp3s on pur phones with NO DRM. The developer’s response to this review is both arrogant and irrelevant. This app is a waste of time and money. I’m going back to The Amazing Snow Downer app. Not as nice of an interface but at least it WORKS.

Transcribe+ (iPhone) and Transcribe! (Desktop) are the BEST!

I bought both versions - including the desktop/laptop version mostly because I have tons of music on my desktop and not that much on my iPhone and iPad (iTunes). (Yes, you need to access music files, you cannot stream the music.) Either version works equally well with amazing sound quality when slowed down. It’s really impressive software.

BTW, I have friends who learn with TAB. OK, I get this, but this is a better experience for me because it helps train my ear. I love this software, I recommend it highly!!

EQ is out now! In the menu- toggle on the EQ toolbar.

Almost great

I use this app daily and it is great at what it does. It is a solid app that needs one significant addition, save the flags and songs that I am working on in an easy place to find. I feel like I have to reinvent the wheel every time I play a different song, even if I have played it a dozen times before. Don’t waste time labeling things, because the labels get discarded, and I have to go back and search my song library to bring an old song back. It is easy to use, but isn’t as useful if you are working on more than one song at a time.

A few additions would make this a 5 star app

There are a few features I think this app should have especially since it was so expensive.

My most urgent request is Low Pass and High Pass filters. I am currently trying to learn bass lines and sometimes the guitar is so forward in the song that the bass is really hard to hear without cranking the volume. It would be nice to turn the guitar down a bit or boost the bass.

Second is the ability to make a playlist of songs you are working on. It is a little annoying to have to go dig the song out of my phones music player each time and not be able to quickly call up a different song. I have had to reboot Transcribe once because it would not allow me to pass through to Apple Music to get my song.

Last and definitely least important, in most DAWs or DJ software you have the option of using the multicolor wave form view which is helpful because it shows where your kick drums are hitting by highlighting them and other beats in contrasting colors. This would make it easier to quickly pick out a section to loop and also helpful as a visual metronome as you practice.

Thank you for your time and effort, your app has already helped me a lot as a beginning bass player.

1.5 has the ability to split any track into Bass, Drums, Vocals and Instrumentals. I think this will actually accomplish your desired goals even better than a low/high pass and or multicolor waveform. Give it a try- it's actually quite amazing.

Fantastic app for learning songs

This app is so well thought out. The interface is really user friendly everything you need when you’re going through a tune over and over is right there. I really appreciate how the developer designed the looping speed control and scrubbing. It’s a little different than other apps I’ve tried for transcribing and that’s a good thing!! Thanks developer team!

Transcribe is a fantastic tool to enable to work out songs. You can slow the tracks down whilst retaining the pitch. Furthermore, you can easy loop a particular passage you need to focus on. You can work on any music in your library easily. It’s also very intuitive.
I would definitely recommend it to any musician.

Great tool!

I love this app. Saves me from having to fire up the desktop and DAW to pick out melodies and instrumental pieces from songs I want to learn. So much easier to use. The pitch and speed change controls are superb. A couple of suggestions, though. Could you make it so that the looper function can be set shorter than the current shortest time. I think it can be closed in to about 2 or 3 secs. It’d be great if the start and end points could be brought together as close as possible. Like in milliseconds. I often try to pull notes out of recordings one by one. I close in on a single note and let it loop, then find it on my guitar or tuner. And if you had a built in tuner in the app in addition, that’d be even better. Then you could loop a note and see on the tuner what the note is.

Not bad, but could do better

Until now, I have been using AudioStretch which is simple to use and very effective, but I was a little frustrated by the overly simple flag marker system. Although one could place ‘pins’, they are not visible on the timeline and cannot be annotated. Then I spotted the Transcribe app - ouch, £15, well the reviews seem positive and hopefully it would be as good as my PC version of Transcribe.

Well, the marker flags are excellent, visible on the timeline and easily annotated. Great. However, there are a few problems:
- Whatever adjustments you make to the speed and pitch are not stored and have to be reset when you next open the app. Likewise the loops
-AudioStretch has a nice system for jumping between markers, here you have to have a rough stab on the timeline and hope.

Dear developer, potentially a great app, could you add the above features when you have a moment. Thanks.

update to 1.5. Markers and loops now persist even when song is closed. Two finger tap gesture has been added to skip between flags. Two finger tap on the right side of the waveform to go forward- left to go back. We've also added an EQ toolbar, Video Support, and Song Splitting(amazing and must be tried to be believed!)

Very good and easy to use

I love the fact that I can scrub across the timeline, one note at a time if I have to. The loop markers and flags are very useful too.

I would like to be able to lock the Speed and especially the Pitch as it is too easy to knock them when using the app. I would also like to be able to delay the beginning of a loop on playback.

Love the app and look forward to seeing it develop.

I like it a lot, except for one annoying thing

I am getting so much better on my guitar with this app. I go into jam sessions with other amateurs (and some professionals) feeling much more confident, knowing I have practiced a lot and could keep up. It has made a huge difference in just a few weeks. Even if I know I can’t keep up at 100% speed, I can ask to have a song slowed down a bit when it comes to performing and I know I’ll be fine. It’s just so much fun to play at home with this app. I have much more confidence now. This is when playing guitar is starting to be fun and not just work.

You do not have to pay twice with the same Apple ID. On the upgrade page simple press "Restore Purchase" and you should be good to go!
