So Far Okay

So I’m using this as I assume most are, with Dayton Audio products. In this case, I am using the WFA WiFi Multiroom adapters. I have three.

Firstly, I found it was much better to have them near the router if you are to use the wireless feature. I had one in the kitchen near a wall plate amp running my kitchen speakers and it would cut out frequently. Always best to use wired but in this case I needed room on my router for other, more critical components. Setup is pretty easy but ran into a few snafus like accidentally naming two of the the same name, which causes it to show two devices with the same name. Controlling either mimics the same on the other device, so not a deal breaker but I can’t figure out how to get it to show just one of each. So far it seems to work well but I need more time with it.

It really needs to have Amazon Alexa functionality. I can’t see them ignoring this on later releases. Also, the ability to save and name groups of devices, i.e. “inside” for my living room and kitchen or “whole house” to include the pool. Having to drag and drop the same sets of devices over and over gets old.

Whole home audio!

I am using 6 different hi-fly products from Dayton Audio. I love that I can group everything together and play in syncs to the whole house, patio and workshop at once. The fact that they support AirPlay let’s me stream any source that my phone is playing. The line in jack can be streamed to other zones as well, this is nice for when I want to stream the bedroom tv to the bathroom Aero speaker while getting ready in the mornings. I can still listen to the news and weather while showering.

Worst sound system ever

The app doesn't work. The receiver doesn't work. Takes forever to connect. Limited streaming options. Terrible.

Hardware aside, it really is a good app

It's hard to set hardware issues with the WFA02 aside and review the app, but I will. The app itself is well designed, loads quickly, and is decently responsive. Pairing units is very clever, and some features like a 'play/pause all' are thoughtful.
I wish I could reduce some of the menu>menu>menu> tapping to get to some of my media and it would be REALLY nice if it remembered where you were at in different catagories instead of always starting at the top menu again. Also, why can you 'favorite' certain media and not others? That's a little frustrating.
Now, Dayton, open up an API and give us more technical info. You aren't Apple. Stop acting like it.
