  • QT Canberra

Nobody at reception when we arrived and no signage even identifying area as reception.
Not told that Restaurant not open for dinner Sunday or Monday night by anyone until we tried to have dinner there. Antipasto Platter under Upgrade was just a few pieces of cold meat and some peppers, no cheese or biscuits so pretty ordinary.
No brochures about things to do and see in Canberra and of course COVID blamed.

Very disappointing really so far since this was to be our 40th wedding anniversary splurge and really looked forward to it.

Staff very nice and helpful. We were thinking we might extend our stay but won’t now. If I hadn’t already pai up front some time ago, would probably book somewhere else.

After settling in after our initial disappointment, we have really enjoyed our daily breakfasts at Q1 with lovely staff and excellent food. Our room has been cleaned daily and we have had some good days out exploring Canberra.

I think COVID-19 restrictions have had an impact on all Hotels limiting the services they can offer.

  • Stay at Rydges Canberra

Firstly let me say the staff at the newly renovated & reopened Rydges Canberra are fantastic. They were very accomodating and couldn’t do more to assist.

In short, the room I was initially assigned (King Deluxe) did not have its air-con working properly; it was still set to winter mode...as many rooms seem to be.

After returning from dinner I was moved to another room and turned on the air-con to cool the room while I had a drink in the lobby lounge. When I returned about an hour later the room was still very warm, and with no windows to open I had no choice but to move rooms again.

The third and final room I was assigned had barely working AC but sliding windows so despite the weak air-con, I did manage some air through the windows. Ironically, it was the AC generator above my bathroom that ran all night and kept me up. I ended up spending most of the night in the lobby reading and working, and also in my vehicle for some rest before my drive to Orange.

The hotel has been closed for some time and it was blatantly obvious to me they are not ready to be open to the general public.

  • The coolest properties!

Every time I open the app there are new properties I’ve never heard of. Love the Mexico and US Hotels! Very cool.
  • Having a Hitlist moment

Since January you can’t login to Hitlist or create an account. Seems like Luxury Escapes follows their trail. Homepage doesn’t load

  • Luxury it is, Escape it is

It all started one Sunday morning reading Escape travel, I left a post it note stuck to the Luxury Escape deal, for my husband, to read, as I set off for work.
“Pick a date” we are going to (Pan Pacific Nirwana Resort) Bali.
From that moment on, that’s how we love to travel. What we love most is the simplicity, we book 12 months in advance & all the travel arrangements, food, accommodation arrangements are done, even now booking flights, so easy.
Since then, our love of 5 star luxury has taken us to the most spectacular hotels & resorts in the world, to experience the most breathtaking experiences, from riding bareback while elephant trekking in the muddy river waters of Thailand, to jumping in the 32 degree ocean & waterskiing in front of our Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Hotel, taking in the epic view of Dubai Marina, or water sliding in in the BIGGEST waterpark in the World. Topping the day off with dressing up to the 9’s to dine!! Every night. It took 10 years, of wanting to jump into the pool at Palazzo Versace Hotel Gold Coast, it took Luxury Escapes to take me there.

  • Refund response

I needed to cancel a booking a submitted a request 2 days after making it per their policy. We then went into shut down. Despite this, and the passing of time, I have received the full refund to my card. Contact is through email but this worked for me.
  • Risky
