Money grab

No service. Fraud app

If you’re outside the US forget it

If you’re outside the US and were enjoying US programs that aren’t available in Europe etc then forget it.
All the US tv networks are gradually disappearing from the app. NBC, ABC and FOX have already gone.
I was stung for 100 credits and all the series I was following I can no longer watch. Still have over 70 credits left and hardly anything worth recording, I expect CBS and theCW will be next. Their customer service is lousy no emails replied to since services started disappearing from their app.

Excellent App!

I have used this app for quite some time. It’s amazing. Yes, adds randomly pop up for deals before setting up your recording. But this is a minor inconvenience which the user just clicks away. This doesn’t diminish the convenient opportunity to record a favorite show!
Occasionally I have had to reach out to tech support. The Zen desk responds quickly with solutions that solve problems!
It is one of my favorite apps, which I highly recommend for everyone! You will find PlayOn of great value to your library!

Useful app marred by flaws

Infinitely more convenient than the desktop app but some UI flaws and regular, obnoxious popups definitely hurt the experience. Also, they’ve discontinued the cheaper plan without the additional storage which is annoying. 7 days is enough time for most people to download their recordings but being forced to purchase the 100 GB limit is just another way to raise prices it seems. The app isn’t clear about expiration dates for the recordings as there’s no mention of times just dates in the app or accompanying emails. And the regular popups trying to sell more credit packs or always trying to get me to use triple the credits for 1080p get super annoying. I wish there was a way to turn all of that off especially as a paying member.

Good App but appalling customer support

When the app was working, it was very good although issues with some Paramount +. I then one day lost my credits and cloud space and play on customer support had been incredibly poor. Not responding to enquiries, it been over two weeks without response from play on support. Very disappointed

Great, but limited streamers for Australia

It’s a fantastic app. It works really well and is quite intuitive to use. There is a fee, you buy credits which you use up when recording. (They always have deals though).
Currently have access to Netflix, Disney+ and Prime.
I’ve reached out multiple times, enquiring if more services would be made available for the Australian market, (Stan, Binge, Paramount+, CrunchyRoll etc) but it appears nothing is happening any time soon. Which is a shame, as there is so much potential to increase services here down under.

Good…but very US oriented

This is a fine app & I have used it quite a bit since downloading it. However, there are some drawbacks. It only covers the US versions of Netflix & Prime, so if you are in the U.K. you can be in the position of being able to watch a program on the U.K. app but not download it on this!

Similarly, there is no UK specific coverage, so no Sky, ITV, Channel 4 or Channel 5 ability.

Contacted customer service only to be told no plans to include these. There is also a problem with downloading non English language programs sometimes as the sub titles are not always captured.

I wish they had done this a while back.

I dislike a certain software company with a passion, but they have a lock on the industry. I started using Linux, but there is a dearth of software for that. The other legacy OS is slightly better for software availability. Where I am going with this is that PlayOn is super, but it only worked with the software that I despise.

The cloud version is super. It allows me to record the material I want without having to give money to a company that I find abhorrent. I’m very happy to be able to save shows that could have disappeared.

Moneygrab

Total money grab. Rip off.

Not very worth it

Downloads everything ok, but fails to mention that you have to wait over an hour for each download. Even if your download is only 30 mins long, if you don’t open the app and stay checking on it you won’t have it downloaded. There are times when I transfer the cloud videos to my phone where it tells me 6 mins left to transfer, so I walk all the way to my train and by the time I’m on it the app tells me there’s 10 minutes left so I’m left with nothing. Very disappointing and it’s this bad and is not free. I’ve already wasted about 5 credits with this whole 1-2 hour download debacle
