Amazing app for saving money
This app is easy to use and food is extremely cheap. You can reserve multiple “surprise bags” and save good restaurants as favorites. Overall I’ve had a great experience. I will say that if you are a picky eater or have a lot of dietary restrictions, this app is not for you. You reserve a bag ahead of time and get whatever the restaurant or store has leftover at the end which can vary a lot. Also orders can be cancelled at the last minute if the restaurant sells out. This is all spelled out in the app before you order anything so as long as you read carefully, you should have a great experience. I paid $5 for a bag of pastries easily worth $20-25 and they were DELICIOUS. I’d suggest ordering 1 surprise bag from a few different places and seeing which places have the best deals and best food and understanding that it might be a little hit or miss at first. Excellent app!!! I look forward to even more restaurants and stores participating.

Great concept but execution could be much better
I have only used this service once as a result of it being poorly executed. I arrived at the restaurant at the start of the pick up time. They didn’t have my order. They had no food remaining and were dismissive. I biked 2 miles to get it so it was a huge waste of time and effort. Not only did Too good To Go customer service not provide me with compensation / discount for a future order but I had to wait more than a week for the refund.
The app is also not that great. I don’t have an issue with the distance shown being a straight line like others have noted - that’s what Google maps is for! My problem is lack of selection - only the same 3-5 places show up within 2 mile radius and I’m in a dense area just a few blocks away from a very big and famous university with tons of restaurants in the area. The description of what might be offered is often very vague and we have no idea why places get the score they do. I understand we shouldn’t rate places like Google or Yelp as these establishments are doing us a favor but it helps to know if my bag is going to have boba tea or a sandwich? Is it going to be a meal or dessert / pastries? Will it have meat? I just called up a pasta joint that always shows up in the app. I thought I’d be getting cooked ravioli but was told it’s uncooked bits of fresh pasta. That type of info would be useful to have in the app.

Some food items SHOULD go….
I used this application and was extremely excited to (hopefully) get a great value with some decent food, but also to help the environment by reducing food waste. I selected a pizza place with a 4.6 rating out of 5 star rating. Seemed like a good start for my TGTG experience. The claim was that I would receive “a $15 dollar meal for $4.99”. Great deal I thought. EXCELLENT DEAL!!! Anyway, what I received in my suprise bag WAS a surprise. 5 slices of pizza that looked like thad sat out for 8+ hours. 1 pepperoni slice, 2 sausage slices, 1 margarita slice and 1 white broccoli. My issue… this is not “a meal”. It’s scraps. I would rather have taken that $5, gone to the store and made my own (better and fresh) meal. I give the application 3 stars due to the good idea, the ease of use, and the whole process (how smoothly it went). However… the product that you will get, the actual “food”. PEOPLE… do not do it unless you don’t mind eating 8 hour old food (which hey, a lot of you do judging by all the high star ratings). The food you will get….. it SHOULD HAVE GONE!!

Very impressed
Heard of this app from a friend three months ago, immediately thought it was a wonderful idea. I downloaded the app but unfortunately there wasn’t many choices around where I live at the time, so I uninstalled it after a while. Three months later, decided to give another go, and I am very impressed this time. I am now able to collect magic bags from local supermarkets, bakeries, and café. The sheer amount of food I can get with such small amount of money exceeds my expectation. Although I may not like every item I get, but I’m not a fuzzy person so happy to go with luck. It also makes me think of my previous behaviour on food wastage, and in addition, changed my attitude towards grocery shopping. The food collection process is very smooth and almost painless. I will definitely keep on using this app and recommend it to all my friends.

Great concept but hope the search function is improved!
I love the concept of saving food from landfills! So the 5 star is for the concept and our experience.
My suggestion for improvement would be that the search function doesn’t really show me all that is available. Friends tell me that certain restaurants are on, but I can’t find them. The recommendation for my area is hit or miss. But every time I’ve gone through the app it is great. So it’s just the search function that could be improved

A wonderful way to try something new
I really appreciated. The store told me about this app as they were participants in it. I’ve discovered so many new places that I never heard of and love, supporting them, and keeping good food out of the trash. Recently, I was able to gift my mom, one of the bags I purchased at her local store she actually goes to. I found the store and ask them if this is something they can accommodate, and they agreed happily. It’s not every day you find someone who can pick up the phone and be so accommodating and nice and knowing it didn’t cost that much to surprise my mom with some thing that she actually enjoyed.

Don’t understand negative reviews?
I’m a college student so when I first heard my friends raving about this app where you get delicious discounted food, I knew I had to see what it was about. This app is amazing! I do live in Chicago so there are over 100 different options every day! I get whole meals for 5 bucks at most and the food lasts me the whole day even the day afterwards. If I just need a quick pick me up I go to this app and can get free pastries for 3 dollars or donuts. Some places even give drinks! Seriously, I have nothing but good things to say about this app and I hope more people can try it out so it becomes more normalized. With the inflation, and sky rocket of prices at grocery stores/ restaurants, this app has helped me save so much money it’s insane. Forever grateful to have been told about this

Such a smart idea!
This is such a great idea to save food waste! I’ve used this app 5 times so far at at least 4 different places and every time the food is delicious and I get a ton of it for a great price!
Only drawback is it takes some time for towns to catch on. So the town that I work in has a ton of different places that are participating, but there’s currently only a few options in the town I live in (and that’s compared to a few months ago when there was none!). So it might take a little bit for restaurants in your town to start appearing, but I promise it’s worth the wait!

Hidden Gem
This app does two great things at once- you get food for a discounted price, and restaurants waste less food each day. I have picked up 7-8 packages from restaurants using Too Good To Go and it’s a great idea that’s starting to catch on!
I have been satisfied or extremely satisfied with each of the surprise bags! The food is the exact same that they sell, nothing wrong with it at all, it’s just surplus!
The only things you should be mindful of are: food is to be picked up at a certain time (usually when the restaurant is done with their busy hours and are soon to close); you can’t make requests for what food you get (whatever they couldn’t sell that day gets put in the bag).
I can’t wait for this to catch on across the world.

Poor Customer Service
I had ordered 3 bags and only received 1. When I contacted the business whom I picked up from, they were fantastic - apologetic and accommodating. However, they were unable to refund me directly as the pick up window was over and I was told to contact TooGoodToGo directly.
I had assumed it would be an easy correspondence being that I paid for something I never received however customer service insisted I provide a photo of my surprise bag to assist me.
Being that they responded the next day, I had already consumed my goodies and was unable to provide a photo. I explained that the issue was not with the goods in my one bag but that I paid for two others and never got them. Still they insisted that without a photo, they would not refund me.
TooGoodToGo: I'm not quite sure how a photo of one bag would prove I didn't receive the other two. If you are assuming I am being dishonest, I could simply leave out the two bags.
This solution makes no sense. I have called the bakery and they will provide me with two bags at my earliest convenience. I really hope you choose to reassess how you handle these claims in the future.
Using logic in your assessment, along with trust in the word of your customer AND business partner (bakery) will result in more satisfaction and less disappointment.
