  • Needs some fine tuning

I appreciate what it does as an aggregator of news, but it really could use some adjustments. Let’s start with the articles themselves: it doesn’t normalize news articles very effectively, with odd formatting or blocks of content just plain missing. This compels me to visit the originating website… which is REALLY hard to do, because all links are routed through Apple URLs that trigger the News app in a vicious circle. I find myself googling the headline and finding the article on the web to see it without issues. I’m sad I’m unable to find words in an article like I can through Safari and its Reader Mode. If I stay on an article too long over the course of the day the app “resets” to the top of the landing screen and if I’m lucky I remember some keywords in the headline of what I was reading so I can search for and track it down again. It implies there are new news stories if I scroll to the top, but often there aren’t. When I block a news source, the space it would otherwise occupy on the screen is still there, just with a redundant message reminding me that I’ve blocked it. It’s a great app, but it could be much less frustrating with just some small adjustments.

  • Why did you change it? Won’t resume my audio news feeds!! 😡

This is super frustrating apple😡 - News+ I subscribe to and is my favorite news source as it aggregated everything and now you’ve gone and changed it. Why? The best is audio news, But what happened? Now i open the app i have to swipe 5 times to find my old audio news streams I was listening to and they are buried in your app and they often resume from the beginning. not where I left off😡😡 Super frustrating and dangerous when i’m in a car and I can’t resume my last stream. Instead it now drags me to the latest news topics on things I don’t care about - as much as I love Rihanna, I was listening. to something else. 🙄🙃 Leave well enough alone, please! If your developers are bored, have them make this app work on my old iphone6 - which would be better for the environment to repurpose old tech, you know?🌎

  • Much better the tv news but Will not stay open

This app provides much better news and stories then our local tv network but will not stay open. It keeps shutting down on me. I will be scrolling down through the headlines and gone, it’s gone and shut itself down. I think, oh look, an interesting headline, what’s the story? Gone, it’s gone and shut down again. I thought the problem could be my old iPad so I updated and no, it’s not my iPad it’s app.
I love that you can keep delving into the various topics like art and architecture but the app cannot handle what it’s being asked to do😖

  • Pick on trump everyday.

Why are we always picking on trump or any of our past presidents. We should go back to. Take up for our own. No matter our background we need to stop hating on America. If it’s not good here then why are we here. We never talk about our accomplishments as a nation. I don’t see any one person that has it as bad as some in other nations. We don’t have to agree to believe in hope and kindness. It’s always bashing the ones we don’t agree with. If I do that then I believe the problem lies with in me. I try but most of the time I fail. I will keep trying to get better as a human. Got to admire all our past presidents. It takes courage to run for president. Myself I could never muster that kind of courage. I thank everyone of our past presidents for their courage. I believe most people wouldn’t if they could sacrifice their lives families for that high office. I will take a look at myself before I voice my opinion about any person from now on. Let the love of freedom shine.

  • Complete fail

I have zero interest in sports and yet for the past couple of months, Apple News has decided that apparently every single day the top story (the very first story listed in the app) should be a sports story. I’ve been using the app for at least 5 years and am assuming it lists stories based on detected interests, in which case this is baffling because I have never clicked on a sports story. The other alternative explanation is actually terrifying: that the editors at Apple News are not basing anything on my preferences but have decided that despite all the momentous things happening on planet earth, sports are somehow inherently more important. I’ve had enough - not using the app anymore.

  • Don’t bother

Literally the worst news aggregator on the planet. Does not filter the news or feeds you dislike. In fact, it gives you more of what you want less of. Shows an ugly blank spot for the sources you block, unless you go to settings, which we all love doing.
I wish Spotify created a news aggregator.
  • Worst UX of any Apple product to date

Heavy Apple user here for decades. This new update has to be one of the worst user experiences of any product Apple has ever created (which includes the Magic Mouse charging quirk). When a user wants to block a channel, this means they *don’t want to see anything coming out of that channel* period. Full stop. Now this app forces you to read these headlines when they are curated by Apple. The whole point of this app is to have a stream of things and news I’m interested in, not what some pimpled intern decided was good for an agenda. Fix this.

  • Unpopular opinion, but I love it

It’s a great, one stop shop for getting news, magazines, catalogs, etc. They might not have everything you’re looking for but what they do have is still great. Obviously it has issues such as putting a News+ paywall in front of articles that don’t have paywalls in the actual site for the publication. However it makes it easy to pay just one monthly payment to get access to plenty of news outlets and magazines that will get you past paywalls that the publications might have (like Wall Street Journal with 3 free articles a month and others like that). I don’t mind paying for news because we need more reputable journalists and outlets that can make money to keep being reputable. People will have their own, valid, opinions on the app because of the issues it does have but it does work great and gives me what I want for the most part.

  • Dear Apple News Marketing Team.

We advise you to think a different and set the task of attracting a multi-million global audience. I hope it's not a secret, that people speak different languages and read in different languages. Now in the era of artificial intelligence and creativity (ChatGPT): is it possible to create for Apple News subscribers automatic and (optional) translation of articles into different languages of the world? By adding this feature, you will attract a huge audience of readers from all over the world. We would like to wish good luck to the Apple News team in achieving this goal.

  • It’s kind of amazing how much you get

The amount of stuff you get access to is enormous and since I’ve gotten it a lot more has been added. There’s trash magazines u find next to the register but then they have the top magazines like Scientific American, Nat Geo, New Yorker, Time, and plenty of others. For standard news you get a lot now… used to be less. Getting Wall Street Journal is really the big highlight of the news but plenty of other good ones too.

I like the audio news for when I’m travelling… but on a trip 4 hours one day and 4 hours back a week later and you can run out of stuff you are interested in for a while. Hopin they increase how many articles the and stories they get to audio.

Does need some improvement to organization though. If you like a wide variety of magazines and news it ends up bein too much to scroll through. The audio stories have good organization by topic when you scroll to the bottom but the regular reading news is like a social media feed and it’s just not really ideal.
