  • Zone frustration limit

I had to play cheesy to get a handle on beating these PVP clones playing like a NPC everyone pick the same Op deck exploit it. No one is creative anymore with building their decks. But once I got the hang of things they brought back the fluffs so the fusion fluffs are just wiping out your monster zones and trap/spells with 2 or more fusion summons per turn and since u don’t know what a PVP deck will be in use. It becomes another factor that goes Against you. The zones available are just 3 and 3 instead of 5 and 5 like the original I think we would have a better chance if it was 5 and 5 but with all that awaits in duel links like the pvp clones. But I spent so much time and effort stacking up gems to spend on PsY-Frame cards and psychic cards there no decks for purchase for the Psy-frame or psychic cards. If I had a psy-frame deck to build I wouldn’t complain as much just typical gamer anger but mostly upset with the zone limit. I would like it better if they made the field original and gave us our 5 zones for monsters and spell/trap. So I play the game to waste time so I will not spend money just gems until changes are made. Don’t feel like moving to a different game because of the time spent just waiting for the change.

  • Has Potential

Decent collecting game if you just want to be nostalgic and get cards from the original show. However, the dueling aspect is super unbalanced. You can figure out how to build decent decks with the tutorials if you aren’t familiar with anything past the Dimension movie but it’s painfully obvious you are at a disadvantage if you don’t use certain types of decks consistency in the PVP modes and against higher level offline characters. Especially if you want to be a free to play user. There are also way too many occasions where you just don’t draw anything useful. You can create balanced decks that properly compliment the monsters/spells/traps you put in them but for whatever reason you’ll have matches where you get nothing useable in your starting hand, resulting in quick losses that ruin the overall fun factor. I’m more understanding if this happens in the PVP mode since it’s the competitive mode with rewards but that type of thing shouldn’t happen in offline play where you’re just trying to enjoy the game, collect cards, and progress stages. I’ve also had glitches where you’ll complete challenges/missions but not get credit for them so you have to do them again until the game decides to recognize the achievement.

  • Cards don’t work they way they should. Pay to win

Some monster effects that destroy monsters don’t work against buster blader( which doesn’t have any effects) trap jammer doesn’t work against all traps activated during the battle phase. King dragun has a effect that states no opponents effects, spells, or traps can target a dragon monster which king dragun is, so why do traps and spells work against him????? When you have a effect that banishes a trap or spell card they can still be activated which goes against the purpose of banishing them. I just had a match and set a trap card first turn, it wouldn’t activate the whole match. This game is good but there are cards that are overpowered with effects, and cards that don’t work the way they should. For the money this game charges and the amount of different versions of the game you can get beat with. It’s truly unfair to anyone who does pay to win. These decks they’ve put out are almost unstoppable. This card has a effect that summon this card, that card has a effect that summons another. Which will summon a level 8 or above that can’t be destroyed. It negates effects, can attack multiple times and have a 4000 or above attack. It honestly took the fun out of this game. It’s still fun don’t get me wrong but unless you’re paying, and you’re a competitive player (pvp) you’re losing. That’s just not fair to everyone.

  • ACTUALLY Free To Play for ACTUAL players

it’s all strategy imo. some games cost a lot. this hasn’t cost me a dollar and i made 2 of my IRL decks minus 1 card (locked as the final upgrade for a secret character) in the span of about 4 days. you really just have to be strategic in how you utilize your gems, opportunities to earn gems, events, and orbs/triggering stage ups (you could potentially have multiple worlds all 99% finished and ready to stage up, resetting the growing number of standard duels you've been allowed each time) and do your darn duel trials. free gems for one turn of a game. hard to find features like that.

ALSO ESPECIALLY know when to use your tickets. you can spend 5000 gems trying to get 1 card out of a 400+ BOX, OR you can see if it’s redeemable with a ticket/character unlock you can get on a daily basis for free. the “card catalog” will show you how any card/related card is achievable. some do require BOX purchases (makes sense when there are over 10 thousand individual cards), but theres a plethora of short cuts to so many cards you don’t have to just buy a BOX 100 times over hoping a deck builds itself before you go broke. STRATEGIZE and MAXIMIZE. it’s what the entire game is all about after all.

  • Needs work

I love the game of Yu-Gi-Oh and I have since I was a kid, and while this game was fun, there is room for improvement.
    1. Not every card is available. While there are a great many cards available and you can make some fun decks. I’ve noticed while playing the game that there are even more cards that are simply nowhere to be found, even with trading in the “card tickets”. I am fine with not every deck or pack being available at the start of the game, but from what I’ve found not all the cards are available at all. I would be happy to be wrong about this but it does not appear that I am.
    2. There needs to be more dueling slots. It may seem nit picky to fuss about the number of dueling slots in a mobile game, but if you are going to make a dueling game based on the ACTUAL game, just provide the correct number of dueling slots and make if 5 spaces for spells and traps and 5 spaces for monsters instead of 3, it does not seem like that big of an advancement considering the download size of the game already.
    3. From what I understand we don’t actually play in the game with a 40 card deck and we play with a 25 card deck I believe. I don’t know why this is but if we could make it like the actual game that would be nice.

  • PLEASE READ DEVS!!!

I been playing this game on and off since it began I uninstalled because the earlier days was very difficult to navigate and get actual decent cards I am glad to see since I have downloaded it again I haven’t stopped playing it but I do have 2 MAJOR issues…number one NOT enough lives to play either give more lives to play or reduce the speed of regaining lives that’s a big one that makes me want to just forget about it and uninstall every time right when I am finally starting to feel it you take it away and I have to wait forever I know I could play other people but I like the story part….DEVS please stop rewarding us with the same dang cards I have like 200 of the same cards that I will never use you have to put something good in there that we can use other that crap and I am willing to stop playing if that doesn’t change you have something strong right now on a old card game don’t let it go down the drain because of greed …more time to play story and better card rewards if you do that I give it a a 8 out of 5 if not I give it a 3 out of 5

  • Overall brilliant game.

I first downloaded the game a couple of years ago and deleted it not long after. I wasn’t too interested in the app is all. But recently I decided to get it again and invest actual time into the game and I just gotta say that I INSTANTLY got attached. Seeing all of the classic cards like Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, Dark Magician, Stardust Dragon, and of course, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, felt so wonderful and nostalgic, all of which have epic animations when summoned with their respective owners in the anime. Furthermore, it honestly isn’t very hard to collect good cards and large quantities of gems. I started with no gems yesterday (Because I spent all of them) and worked my way up to about 2000 in little time.

This game really brings to light the joy of creating custom decks suited to your liking, and I strongly encourage that whoever is reading this, should get it as well. And maybe, just maybe, you can experience the aw you felt when Yugi summoned Slifer the Sky Dragon for the first time. Thank you for listening to my Ted-Talk

  • Worth it.

Overall I am a big fan of Konami and I think that duel links is definitely one of the best PvP games available. I have spent a ton of hours on this game and still keep coming back for the awesome replay ability and competition. If you are reading this review to decide to start playing this game I would just start installing while reading this. Very fun and engaging game that helps out newcomers to the franchise and provides plenty of resources if you are willing to invest a little time. The reviews that complain about gems and pay to win are just nitpicking and it’s not difficult to gets good cards 100% free. Pre built decks with ultra rare and super rare cards, sales on box’s and tons of gems for basically just playing the game is a well welcomed change of pace compared to other apps that’s for sure. Worst case scenario you feel like spending $4? Big deal I spend more at a Starbucks. If you like Pokémon or yugioh like I do this game with consistently scratch that itch. Unless your dueling skills are less then skillful...😉

  • DON’T listen to reviews about gems!

This game is great, especially when you know how to take advantage of what the five you. I haven’t spent a penny on the game and I’ve been able to make great decks. There are ways around the “shortage of gems”. There are 5 different series on this game, from the original YGO to Zexal. Each one has their OWN stages that refresh standard duelists when completed, and those standard duelists can be used to beat missions that often reward gems (or lead up to earning gems). Several events are made for easy gems (like duel quest, duelist road, KC Cup, etc.). PvP rewards crazy amounts of gems, and half the time you don’t even have to win to get them.

There are many ways to get gems, and if you’re good at PvP you can potentially get twice as much just from getting promoted through the ranks. Just make sure you buy starter decks of your favorite archetypes and then buy booster packs from boxes that have cards that compliment them. Don’t go headfirst into the boxes.

This game is most definitely viable for F2P players. Again, I haven’t spent a dime and I can compete with ranked players. As long as you know what you’re doing and you aren’t dumb with your gems, you can go very far. I even had to make a new account before (I forgot to put my data on a Konami account) and I’m even further than I was before. It’s a great game for new players and experienced players, but learning about the archetypes you like to use will pay off tenfold.

  • Great game but needs quality of life improvements

I love this game. When I first started playing a couple months ago the nostalgia hit me so fast I didn’t even see it. I wanted to reach out and say that this game isn’t missing much but what it is missing are quality of life updates. Such as adding phone battery/time in the top right and left corners(where there is screen space at the top by the iPhone notch). A more responsive UI, such as when clicking and tapping buttons the delays makes it feel like the buttons can be unresponsive at times. Being able to more easily swipe through your hand when you have more than 7 cards in hand. Easier access to the PvP Area when in a duel room. At some times it feels like the screen is too cluttered, an options to stack standard duelist would be great and also reduce clutter on screen. An options in settings to play in landscape (only when in duels) would be an awesome feature as well!

Again I love this game! Just some small quality of life features needs to be added to make the game feel more fluid.
