  • Buggy Game

I had broken the game in less than a minute by dragging a card into the wrong slot in the tutorial. If the game can break this easily in the first minute, you can expect it to be even more buggy when you play through the game. The only pro of this game is that it has a good idea concept, but bad execution in my opinion.

  • Good port but still no pass and play/local play?!?

Developers say pass and play feature was on the way... Come on all, this is a major omission and still missing after all the development and release??? Original review stands but I cannot recommend till local play is added. Virtually every other digital port has this so I guess I am confused while we still don’t have it!?

    Original Post-
Literally, with climate expansion this is my favorite physical card game of all time and seems to be a really nice port, however, lack of a pass and play feature (i.e., local play) is kind of ridiculous with the quality of digital board games these days... This is simply a must have feature for iPad board games in 2019... Please add and easily five stars for such a polished game

  • Good game, crashes.

A great game that crashes if you close the app, however temporarily. Which is annoying if you’re doing really well and then have to start a difficult level again.

But other than that, I’d definitely recommend.
  • 8 Dollars?!

To be honest, it’s kinda boring after you realize you can’t go past level 8 with out paying 8 dollars. You can’t do anything fun, and you can’t move on to more levels. I know you need to make your money somehow, but could you charge a little less? Like maybe 4-5 dollars seems like a more reasonable price. It’s not a bad game, it’s just not as fun when you need to pay to pass. I still love it though! Please reply.

  • Great game; wish there was Pass-and-Play

Love this game very much. Just recently played the boardgame for the first time and had to get the app when I heard about it!

It’s a lovely app, but would be better with Pass-and-Play! Especially if we’re paying for the full version! In the meantime, I’m happy with the free version and I have more incentive to get the actual boardgame at this time. Would’ve been great for train rides or flights to play local on one phone.

  • Great..... buuuut

His is a fun and entertaining game on the computer and as a board game... However on the iPhone it is difficult to read and to just see the game in general. It is also disappointing that the game cost more on the computer than the iPhone. if you want to play this game on both computer and Mobil, you will have to pay for both versions.
The gameplay is decent, however the round limitation can be very irritating, adding the ability to customize game settings will allow for unique games and will keep players coming back to play due to the new spin.
The online version of evolution can become very popular depending on how the game is expanded and changed. I will be keeping tabs on this game to see how it grows..

    * if you are going to by this game the computer version causes less strain on your eyes but is more expensive.

  • Get the Actual Board Game. Seriously.

Evolution is a fun and strategic game that takes only a half-hour to play. Do you try to be aggressive and create predators to attack other creatures, denying points to your opponents? Or perhaps you prefer a more peaceful approach and simply outcompete other creatures for a wider point gap? There are but a handful of ways to play Evolution, making every game change how you play each and every time. The act of playing the game is at times more rewarding than actually winning.

The video game fails to meet expectations in this regard, and then some. The AI unfailingly renders each game to be one-sided, heavily favoring certain cards that make their hands untouchable; based on the actual board game rules, and by counting cards, the AI plays an illegal number of cards, often giving itself the unfair advantage.

Limiting the game to just six rounds misrepresents the gameplay. Crushing 30 minutes into 5 minute interludes of the AI fighting itself, sidelining the human player on the by and by, undervalues the already minimalist and brilliant style of the game.

Although the video game version is a free download, hiding the majority of the game features behind a paywall renders it into a glorified demo that bastardizes the original board game that, at least for a few dollars more, gives you the full version without nonsensical AI and weighted decks that rush you through without even the gratification of playing at all.

    Developer Response

Hi ReturntheWild, Glad you like the board game. One note: the rules are exactly the same for the Video Game as the Board Game. It uses the same standard deck, the AI plays from the same draw as the player, and the number of rounds are the same. It just goes by much quicker as it's digital and takes care of all of the dealing and food counting and everything. We haven't done anything to give the AI special cards or anything, they get dealt from the same deck you do and play by the same rules. You are correct that the game is a demo of the full board game, we wanted to let players give the video game a try before they are asked to buy, unlike most board games that require payment upfront. We felt like it was much fairer to let people try the game before being asked to pay for it, hope you don't view this as a negative. Thanks for playing, hope you're willing to give it another shot.
  • Brilliant

Love game brilliant idea and you really need to think. Although developers you need to fix the draw wins. Already twice I have lost when me and other player had this same score. Please fix it. Add some more levels in campaign and some new cards as well. Game is about evolving so let’s evolve the game as well.

  • Great game, but 75% fewer female avatars

The game itself is very fun, faithful to the board game and beautiful to play. I was excited for this game to come out so I could play it long distance.

However I was extremely disappointed, frustrated and angry to discover that there are 15 male-appearing avatars to choose from, but only 5 female-appearing ones. I guess you think my only is worth 25% of your male players’ money? Or that I’ll play 75% less? I will not purchase the full version, as I completely intended to do before discovering this, until you fix this. Either make the avatars gender neutral or make the representation equal.
