  • It was great. Now it’s meh

Amino did an update a couple of months ago that changed the way the public chats feed worked. Before, it would list the most recently created public chats in a list going down, and at the top of the list were two tabs - “Active Public Chats” and “Active Voice Chats”. This meant big chats that had been established a long time and were regularly used could be found easily, as well as new chats, which is important to allow diverse chat rooms with different themes and rules etc.

However, the update they did removed these two tabs, and now just lists all the chats. The algorithm for the order that it lists in appears to be totally random, as chats that were last used days ago or missing their leader are still listed, some even above chats that are far more active. I have an example of a chat i’m the leader of, which was last active half an hour ago (at the time) which was next to a chat that hadn’t been used in 3 days and below chats that hadn’t been used in 12/13 hours. This is a totally unfair and random system that makes no sense. Either fix the algorithm to properly list based on when they were last used, or (preferably) scrap this system and go back to the old one.

Aside from that, can’t fault the app.

  • Varied but alright

I see people saying it’s child friendly and a good place to put your children on, that is up to what communities they join. For example, there are a few Amino Communities that allow cussing and (in extremely rare cases) NSFW Voice Chats. I know most of these by rumour but still, there is that possibility.
People also say the app runs efficiently, I wouldn’t say they’re wrong or right, it’s good and is a lot better then most other social media apps; however, you can at times get lost in the layout of the app. It is often changed and can throw you off quite frequently, it also has a habit of not allowing you to “check in” on your Aminos, however I think this has been noticed.
The app is good for its purpose and has allowed me to meet new friends I would’ve never met and have times better then most I have daily, simply put; this app is a good and (in personal opinion) better then any other social media out there.

  • I love amino, but things need to be fixed

I love this app man. I really do. But some of these updates really take me off my old love for it. If theres anything I can say are the worst is the newest update where rather than have the chat as a button on the top bar as it use to be, it was replaced by a store button which is completely unnecessary. If I wanted full access to the store I could have went to it straight from the home page but no, the feature I and many used the most was taken and now Im forced to tap on the amino button and THEN click the chats and then enter the chats. Its really annoying, especially because now the button to leave specific communities is right NEXT to the button I need to tap to do this, and I keep exiting on accident. The only thing more annoying than this is the fact I cant go into chats hosting a call without being forced to be added to the listeners when all I want to do is chat, not hear my friends talking. I had to make a new chat with them specifically so I didn't have to be forced into listening when I really couldn't in the situation. I love you amino, but these updates are really throwing me and my friends off. we know you are trying to improve but to us it seems like youre only ever downgrading nowadays.

  • Newest Update

I have to say the newest amino update of October 2018, it’s not bad. I just don’t like the new format. I was just barely getting used to the one before it and I have to say I do have a complaint. Before the last two updates and versions, the voice calling, you could enter a chat and choose whether or not you wanted to listen to the call. But after the last update (Not October) you could not. You’d open a chat with a voice call and immediately be put in to listen to the call, and couldn’t actually just talk in the chat without having to listen to it. Now this is a big thing for me because I like to listen with headphones but if I’m out in public and there’s an incoming voice call, I can’t enter the chat to text because I don’t have anything to make the chat quiet with. I’d really like the old version back where the “my chats” was still in the top right corner instead of this bar that’s kind of slightly annoying on the bottom of my screen. It is slightly harder to navigate because instead of just swiping right on the side of my screen to pull up the menu to look at what I have notifications with, i have to click the bell then click out then go and click my chats on the bottom of the screen. Also the new feature where the exit of the comm button is right on the screen is highly annoying. Like if I accidentally click it while trying to navigate through the main part of the comm, I get exited out of the comm.

  • Awesome! One concern though

It’s an amazing app and I met my best friend there we had an amazing chat but then it was disabled and I don’t know why? So I made another one and in the welcome message I made the rules clear and even put at the bottom please don’t disable this amino. To hopefully stop them from doing it for some weird reason. I just want to make sure it’s not being disabled for no reason. Thanks.

  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This app is amazing! It is child friendly and extremely addicting! It is sort of like a kids version of Facebook or Instagram . There is also an upgrade called amino+, however, this does cost you real money( so I personally don’t have it) but the app works perfectly fine without it. There is pretty much an amino for everything! I am currently on the squishy community, leopard geckos and more! There are different jobs that you can apply for in one simple post! There are welcomers who add a welcome message to new members, head welcomers, curators who look out for trouble makers and also feature others posts and also leaders who basically run the amino. There is also an app called acm ( which I believe stands for amino community maker) where you can create your own community easily! You also have (virtual) coins which you can gift to other members and you can also gain likes, followers and comments! You can make wiki entry’s , enter different types of challenges and make your own, or participate in other people’s quizzes! Overall I think this is a very safe app, the creator(s) did an amazing job and i definitely recommend it! Five stars!👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️😁

  • Amino

It is overall a really good app when it comes to communicating and meeting new people whom share similar interests as you however there are a few things that I am not too big of a fan of when it comes to this app. It crashes kind of often lately and the team never really takes in our suggestions to fix some of the issues. Instead we get an automatic reply and then after a few days another one from a staff member basically saying the same thing or suggesting something that isn’t even helpful. The app really downgrades picture quality and the HD version you get within Amino + doesn’t really make a lot of a difference. You can’t upload “big” files but the app only tells you that once you’ve uploaded it all and hit post. It’s be extremely helpful to bring back the option to not be able to insert a picture or gif if it exceeds the limit. False reports are another thing. Sometimes people falsely report other members and Amino does not really even review it thoroughly and I know this through an experiment I did with a fake account. I believe that Amino is still a great app but they forget about the little details as they are overwhelmed by the big and that’s what is dragging the app down slowly. There are a few more things I would like to address regarding this app but those are just some I think concerns me and my experience along with my friends the most.

  • Almost perfect

It’s great in every way. You can find people who get you and like what you do. You can role play if that’s your thing. You can do so many things that it’s pretty overwhelming. I mean that can be a good or bad thing, but it doesn’t bother me too much. There is something that annoys me though, and that’s that Amino constantly asks for you to choose 3 topics that you like, and there’s no way around it. You can choose to skip and ignore it, but eventually, there’s a screen you CANNOT get past UNLESS you choose three topics which basically means you cannot do ANYTHING until you do no matter what. It was a good app until I got to that screen and was stuck unable to do anything. I COULD just pick three things and be done with it, but it should be a CHOICE to do so or not. I don’t think I should be forced to in order to join.

  • Really good! But small improvements would help ~

As an artist, amino has been and awesome platform for being able to quickly gain an audience through the feature board. I enjoy the variety of activities such as voicechats, quizzes, poles etc. However, I believe there should be small features added to make the app and chat rooms easier to navigate.

Despite there are a few things I could critique, there is one feature I’d LOVE to be added.
I believe there should really be a ‘jump to date’ feature in chat rooms. Having to scroll up for what can be HOURS just to find a message or anything of the sort in a chat room or group chat is honestly very frustrating. I feel as if there should be a feature where one would be able to select a date then be automatically jumped to that dates messages. This would be really helpful and a great addition in my opinion!

Apart from this, I throughly enjoy the app and I hope the effort that Team Amino is putting in to improve the app will hopefully consider my suggestion.
But overall, a 9/10 app. Definitely worth a download ~
