App Crash

Downloaded the Dawn Patrol App this morning and used it via my I watch for a surf. It worked great. Subscribed to the Tides subscription and the App will no longer open. When I open it, it immediately crashes and turns off 😡

Response from developer

Hi, you are absolutely right, we had an issue in the new release that made the app crash on certain devices. We have urgently provided a fixed released a new version today (2.5.1). Could you please update to that version on the App Store? Let us know how you're getting on. If the problem remains, please reach out to our support team: support@dawnpatrol.cloud. Epic app

Great app. Worked really well when you adjust the wave speed and get used to that for your surfing. It misses the odd small wave when on a beach but never misses a beat on a point break. Love it and can’t wait for this to keep evolving to the point when it tells me I am in the take off position

What gets measured, gets done

I am really wanting to lift my surfing. Lifting my skills is part of that, but lifting my intensity is big too. Knowing that I will be accountable for the results of my surf session moves my threshold from bobbing around, being picky, to chasing down waves and making the time count in my bigger goal of surfing better. Dawn Patrol is really helping me, Thanks!

Awesome app

It was a few years back when I started seeing gps surf watches that tracked your sessions and didn’t think until now that there might just be an app for my Apple Watch. The first time I used it was pretty straight forward. You just start your session and forget about it. It was pretty cool to glance at my wrist after every wave and see how far I went or how fast I was going. Then getting out of the water and looking at the more detailed stats on my phone when I got back to my car was pretty cool, especially the map that shows the waves you caught. It can even display the waves you attempted to catch but didn’t. I’m usually in the water for about an hour on weekdays before I have to get my day started and I found myself trying to reach certain goals like 15 waves before the hour is up. Since the watch app shows it at a quick glance, it makes you want to try harder and challenge yourself. I probably won’t be wearing my watch in the water all that much because I hate getting a watch tan, but every once in a while this would be a great way to get some unique stats about your surfing.

Hands down the best app for surfers

I can’t speak highly enough about this app. It recorders pretty accurately and the functionality is excellent. I sometimes get false rides, but I believe that’s because I choose “slow waves” when I’m surfing 2ft Rocky Point on the Northshore. Maybe slow waves are more for 1 ft Waikiki?

Only addition would be if you re-enable the waterlock in the app, the watch face should continue to show you your last ride information. Instead it just shows the water lock button.

Great app for the Apple Watch

Can’t believe how good this is to say it is free. Really easy to add your spots to the app, which you can do in advance. Took me about 2 minutes to add 6 of my most surfed locals. As soon as you push start gps picks up where you are and that’s it. Was really impressed as it even picked it up accurately under my 5mm winter wetty. Info you get it’s pretty good, number of waves, each wave stats length, speed and time. Even tells you how many waves you paddle for and did not catch. The only thing missing is the total distance paddle in the session, which would be nice to know. It also automatically writes the data to your activity app for those that want to include it. Cracking app

Great App!

Bought a Trace gadget last year. It failed after about three months, and I was never able to get their support people to email me or call me back. A total loss and I am very disappointed with Trace. This app is great and works very well. I like the “Failed attempts” display option. The only issue is that it’s hard to turn off at the end of the surf session because your hands are wet. But that’s an Apple Watch issue and has nothing to do with the app.

Excellent Surfing Data App

Just bought an Apple Watch 3 (used as 4 just came out, so cheaper) and have a Rip Curl GPS watch and have used the Trace system and hoped there was something comparable for the Apple Watch-and here it is! Really happy with the app. Very easy to use and has some great data. Not as good as Trace data, but Trace is a dedicated board sport tracker. Pretty much as good as the Rip Curl GPS watch and its app. And this app is FREE! Amazing. Thanks to the developers. Pretty stoked!

The pleasure is ours :) Thanks for your feedback! Happy surfing

Accurate and informative

I’ve used this a few tones and although the features are basic it gives you everything you need, The display is clear and informative while in the water. Well thought out and I’m sure more analytical features will be added.
