Absolutely essential
I’m a fairly new DM, but this was my first app downloaded just over a year ago. It has everything I need for D&D. From creating and tracking characters, NPC, monsters, spells, and items, to storing & displaying interactive battlemaps that are replete with line-of-sight walls and tokens, this app does it all. You can build in your own tables for 'randomly rolling results', keep track of storyline and world building by creating full HTML-markup pages, store downloaded art for easy display to your players, the list is almost endless.
If you subscribe to the premium service, things get even better! Your players can connect via web browser, whether local or remote, and control their own player tokens while panning around and zooming in on the battlemap being presented. Kudos to the developer!Show lessStarfrost
Best encounter management app for D&D
I tried pretty much every app for encounter management and this one is by far the best. Now I can create encounters for my players at the right difficulty level and have them all saved and ready to go for our session. Love being able to click through to the stat blocks and to their spells. Really makes the game faster and more fun for me and players!
One problem: the help documentation. I do not understand how to import more monster xml from GitHub. I really want Strad monsters and I can’t figure out how to do. Explain that and you got a 5 star app!Show lessdmbigmish
Maybe the best DM tool ever
This app is quite possibly the best thing to ever happen to my DMing. As a truck driver, I end up DMing my group from all around the country. Having this app on hand to be able to run our games remotely has changed the game! We used to do it on FaceTime and through text based systems, but this will open up an entirely new world for our group. I love this app and the game now
I have always wanted to play dungeons and dragons but none of my friends played so I took on the great responsibility of learning how to be a dungeon master. At this same time I downloaded encounter plus. When I subscribed and got access to the discord I was greeted warmly by a very friendly and helpful community. There are multiple chat rooms where you can talk about your love of the game and also receive help. I have always gotten a very fast answer especially from rrgeorge and the creator of the app

As a female I’ve always been nervous going into a male-dominated hobby but these are the most friendliest, knowledgeable, and coolest people ever. Amazing app
I’ve only used it for a few hours but I already cannot imagine running a game smoothly without it.
Keeping monster stats and spells stored locally on my device is so much better than any online resource. It recognizes the names of spells and creates hyperlinks to the corresponding spells in the compendium.
Projecting the initiative order to my tv using airplay is also such a great idea. It even randomizes the hp and initiative properly. Once you figure out the app, it’s easy to add visual portraits for the monsters and players characters. And I can control it all with my phone so my players cannot see me looking up monster stats over my shoulder. Amazing.

Easy to learn, high skill ceiling
A must have for any DMs looking to modernize their tabletop! This app is incredibly powerful and has many hidden features you may not even get to use. I learned how to use the app in twenty minutes of tinkering without tutorials and plan to use it for all my games in the future! THE tool for DMs
If you’ve use VTTs before and are looking for another solution or if you’re looking for a more hybrid VTT/in-person experience, this is the app for you. It has online functionality if you wish to play remotely, but where is really shines is its second screen experience that brings games to life. Whether you’re using static maps or animated maps, it does an incredible job of allowing the DM to manage all of the aspects of combat.
But thats not all. It does include a lot of campaign management tools from writing out pages and pages of information, NPC management, maps with pins for certain events, and a robust organization hierarchy. I use it exclusively for all of my DMing needs.
There is one thing to keep in mind though and this is no fault of the app itself. Due to WOTC’s licensing agreements with 3rd parties, the only monsters that come with the app are the Basic Rules monsters. That means you have to provide your own maps and add any monsters manually that are not included in the Basic Rules. By far not a deal breaker and out of the developer’s hands.

The ONLY app I use when DMing
I used to use OneNote and a bunch of other apps to run a VTT and track notes and stats and initiative.. Now, after a little set up, this is the ONLY app that I use for my game.. It is, hands down, the best DM tool you can use.. I AirPlay to my TV on the game table and everyone uses their minis and can see the initiative tracker so no one is confused when it’s their turn.. I can display notes for the players to read, images for players to see, whatever I need.. it is the best..Show lesswrjpowell
Severely Underrated App
This app is amazingly underrated. It's awesome. It's perfect for both on and offline games. Offline I airplay to our TV and we play in the living room and online I airplay to the windows store AirServer app and then broadcast that to Discord. It's so easy and the app is super intuitive. Surprisingly feature-packed for something with only about 400 reviews. Highly recommended. I use it with my iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil works wonderfully with it. Remote Play Essential
Dynamic lighting and the ability to obscure objects and tokens is awesome! This app is indispensable to any group and I. One of my go-to apps. I use this with Discord and I use the external screen option so that I can screen share it to my players via discord while my main screen has all the secrets on it. My players just tell me “move me up two left three” during combat or dungeon crawls, it’s pretty easy!! It takes a while to learn but the settings contain a Help Center for access to tutorials.
