  • Violates App Store Guidelines

Apple’s guidelines for third-party apps on the App Store clearly state that developers cannot lock Apple product features behind in-app purchases for their applications. This app does that: AirPlay Mirroring, a free feature available with all iOS devices released in nearly a decade, is locked behind a paywall with this app.

I refuse to pay for a feature that is provided to me for free, especially when the act of locking that feature behind a paywall is a direct violation of the terms the developer of this app agreed to and signed a legal document saying they would follow.

This is a shame too, because this might actually be a decent app otherwise.

  • Continual Joy to Use

Thank you so much for the continual improvements and frequent updates. Originally started using for just the encounter and initiative tracking, but with the battle map, screen mirroring and the newer web and vision pathing tools this DM tool has become indispensable. Thank you so much for your hard work and I am greatly enjoying the community engagement and modules that are becoming readily available.

  • Without a doubt the best VTT on the App Store

This app has completely revolutionized the way I run my games. Absolutely jam packed with features, I’ve actually cancelled my subscriptions to most external tools and have made Encounter+ my one stop shop for everything I need.
Compendium, character sheets, an intuitive and flexible interface, and a great community for additional support, I’ll probably be a lifetime subscriber.
While there are some features that I hope will be added soon (playing music and sound effects to the external screen for example), the regular updates are pretty substantial (Casting the VTT to an external web server allowing for player interactions was an absolute genius move). So excited to see what this developer has in store down the road.

  • Probably good but hard to tell

This seems like a great app, especially if you are reduced to relying on mobile for VTT sessions. However I can’t rate this above three stars for a couple of reasons. First of all, the help documents are basically nonexistent. The links are there and provide minimal information, but not nearly enough. You are going to have to figure out the sequence of making campaigns, adventures, and encounters on your own and how everything fits together by trail and error. Want to add a PC? Ok. Expect to add and delete stuff until you are sure how it’s supposed to tie together. And what is the DDB field at the bottom of the PC sheet for? I thought to add a link to the PC sheet in D&D Beyond but it doesn’t do anything.

Another issue I found is that it doesn’t provide a way do attack rolls for spells, such as shocking grasp but does do damage rolls.

For maps, the ability to import your own are their for $6, which is steep. I’m willing to pay for features but only if I know they will work and I’ll be able to understand how to work them.

  • Stellar App!

This app has made remote D&D very much a “thing” that almost feels like a lossless experience when coupled with any video chat software. There are so many features and ways to use this app that I am still learning new things every week. I really can’t say enough about how incredible this app is. The designer is clearly an experienced DM, designing a tool that everyone can benefit from. Keep it up!

  • Where are the weapons for player characters??

This app is amazing except for the glaring fact that there doesn’t seem to be any weapons for player characters. Basically you have to enter all standard weapons such as dagger from scratch. Once you manage to do that there is no way to set modifiers to hit. Works perfectly for monsters but not for player characters. Why do monsters have actions and weapons but player characters do not? Why is there no standard weapons imported into the game along with all the magical items and spells?? This oversight is astonishing to me. Is there some tutorial to show how this is done?

  • Better than Roll20 AND Fantasy Grounds

This is a Virtual Tabletop for iOS, optimized for in-person play, but capable of remote play too. Great for campaign management and running a session, with a fantastically responsive developer that takes community feedback into account for every decision. There’s a small learning curve, but it’s surprisingly intuitive as it’s built to be a native iOS app, taking full advantage of your devices features. It’s exactly what you’ve been looking for.

  • The Best VTT and constantly getting better!

As far as organizing and planning this is the best I’ve ever used. I feel like the maker knows exactly what’s wrong with Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds and pretty much every other VTT out there. This is the simplest and to the point as you can get. If your new to RPGs there will be a lot to learn no matter what you end up with. Once you have tried everything else out there, you will come back to this one and know exactly why everyone likes it so much.
Here’s a list of everything else that I’ve tried to save you all time, this is MUCH better than all of these:

    Roll20
    Fantasy Grounds
    EpicGM
    Tabletop Simulator
    Fight Club
    Reroll
    Game Master 5
    Role Gate
    Complete Reference for 5e
    3D Virtual Table Top
    Calamus
    Map Keeper
    mRPG

While this doesn’t offer “everything” yet, its all been coming to this app. Updates regularly. It’s really easy to supplement this app while still using it as your main hub. This is what you need.

The subscription is 100% worth it but not needed to enjoy 95% of what’s included. Cheaper and more reasonable than most others and keeps this FANTASTIC app going.

If you don’t want the subscription I highly recommend buying the battle map and external screen support. It works great with ZOOM - which is essential during shelter in place.

Stop your search here and get this one.

  • Good Use some good tutorials

Don’t get me wrong I’ve used this app for a while but like most dnd players I get distracted by other factors and lose touch with where I left off. This now resulting is some frustration in not being able to operate map/dungeon building to the desired extent. The worst part is that I cannot find any support to remedy this. There are no videos or otherwise useful information to operate any functions. What was meant to be simple became the opposite due to lacking any information for those unfamiliar with the new features. The worst part is I spent money on this and am now not able to get my moneys worth from it. That being said with the basic info I still cannot enjoy it to the fullest. I’m not writing this to be mean but I’d like this problem to be solved more than overlooked.

  • Go-To app for DMs

This is my go-to app for running D&D sessions. It does a great job calculating everything you need for combat and XP. I love that you can enter your own characters and monsters. I love that it has graphics and layouts that make combat more interesting. My only critique is that it only comes with the core 5e creatures loaded. I wish you could buy the various modules that contain all the monsters and creatures for that module. Like a ToA or CoS creature pack for $2 each or something. The developers have also done a great job improving the app over time. Well worth the money.
