  • The Best App Available!!!

This may be the best app in the App Store yet. I do not write many reviews, but I had to for EWA. I cannot get over how thoughtful this app is. From the memorable and funny clips to the statistics, reading, games. There is not one piece of fluff. I have only used this app for a short time and yet I already feel more confident speaking Spanish. REAL PURPOSEFUL LEARNING. Bravo!!!!! Can only imagine where this app can go from here!

  • Not as good as it could be

A lot of the books are in old-fashioned English and therefore the Spanish translation is harder than is helpful to an intermediate learner. But most frustrating is that many many words are not eligible for touch and translate. Yes I could look it up in the dictionary myself, butI specifically paid quite a lot of money to be able to just touch the word. Additionally the verb translations are not conjugated so you don’t really know what tense you are reading if you are not 100% familiar with the verb

  • Problems with books

Maybe the beginners’ lessons are OK, but the books are of limited usefulness. The selection appears to be limited to public domain works (including scanning errors) and, at least for the easy books, consists mainly of translated English and French stories and books.

As others have said, the pop-up translations are very often wrong, useless, or absent for the very words where they are most needed. I have to look them up on Google Translate or DeepL. So all in all, I may as well just choose some available texts and go through them using one of those tools.

It’s a good idea, but needs more work. Why not just link each sentence to DeepL, or to the original English sentence?

  • Fun and functional

I have tried a lot of apps, to avoid taking more Spanish classes, but this one is my favorite. I already have foundational Spanish skills from hs and college but rarely use them. In my new job, I will need to, so I needed to brush up on it. I love that this app lets me skip over things I already know and pick and choose where to start. Most other apps make you follow a path THEY set, and it’s never worked for me. The only thing is the price. It’s a little high, but I’m sure I will get my money’s worth if I continue using it daily.

  • Nice opportunity to build reading skills

I’ve only been using the app for a week, at this point, I think the strength of the app for me is in the ability to practice reading a variety of classical and current books, of various difficulty levels. I appreciate the depth of available books available in print and audio format.

Each book has the majority of its words hotlinked for translation, selecting phrases and sentences leads to translation of the section after a brief pause. Words can be selected for inclusion in a memory drill module.

There are topical conversation lessons that push listening recognition and require one to complete parts of a phrase in writing. For that I use Babble, which appears much more developed in that approach.

  • It’s great, but it doesn’t let you change the dialect

As you know there are many dialects of Spanish. This app is AWESOME the way it is set up. As I was using it, I realized that it was very different from the Spanish my boyfriends family speaks (his family is from Mexico)... and I don’t want to learn a different dialect because the reason I’m learning is so I can communicate with them. So.. I still think this app is awesome, don’t get me wrong. But I have no clue what dialect these books are translated under, and it was really confusing reading them when what I already know is different from some of the vocabulary on this app. Unfortunately, I can’t use this app :/

  • Funny and Familiar

I’ve been using this less than a week so I’ll let you know about the results later. But so far it’s great! I feel like my friend is telling me about different ways to use the words and phrases using popular shows. It’s funny to learn how to learn basic words like Hola come from shows like Breaking Bad. I also like that it’s familiar material. All my favorite shows are helping me learn Spanish. I would definitely try it. And I’ll give you an update as I go on.

  • Not honest

I saw this app on my Instagram, and it’s book reading got my attention, so I paid $50 dollars and purchased it, after that I saw there is no book or game available, just teaching English with using short parts of movies, then I asked support team and they said sorry books and games are not available in your language [Persian] and this is while when I was purchasing the app there was option for Persian language too. Now I’ve paid for an app that is not useful for me at all. So before purchasing the game make sure they have your language available because they are not honest and won’t refund your money.

  • Great but slow

This is a great app with a lot of potential, but regardless of my internet connection it’s very slow to load everything. Choosing a book takes forever to load. Highlighting a phrase for translation takes 5 to 10 seconds; which doesn’t seem like a lot but becomes arduous when you just want a quick one word definition. Also, it seems someone changed the definition of the word ‘se’ to ‘commits suicide’ lol

Otherwise, I really like the app!

  • Impressed

Wow this makes learning interesting. They have lessons where u learn the vocabulary word, how to spell it and use it in a movie clip. The movie clips are from series, movies and tv shows( Marvel, Fríe es, Velvet, Disney). It makes it fun and easy to remember. They also have games. You can read a book and have it read to you. Audio and visual learning makes it more understandable. The best way to learn another language with out it seeming like hard work! Get this app Trust me!
