App Functionality and Membership Functionality
As a retirement gift, we received a Passport America membership.
We were most grateful to our colleagues.
iPad app locked in loading loop. Administration indicated awareness but 2 updates yielded zero results thus far.
7 attempts in 2021 and 2022 non holiday / non prime geography yielded zero availability.
Our experience has been - wonderful concept but execution lacking. May be advantageous to wait until essential elements fixed.
We will not be giving gift memberships until we have experience to reference.

App has been downloading campground info all day!
Is your server jammed? Tried phone on wifi then later iPad on wifi Even tried restaurant wifi. App is locked up with spinning message downloading campground data this has been going on for hours. Tried closing app and reopening same thing.

Broken app
Trip planning is totally broken. Cannot search any trip route, just gives constant error about Location services. If I want to plan a trip from Toledo to Phoenix, of what use is it in knowing my phone is in Atlanta ? None. Just another app that wants to spam you with ads for things it thinks are near you.

Maps don’t work
Maps don’t work, search doesn’t work well, won’t work at all if it doesn’t have your current location. (Horrid choice for travelers using the app). Tried to look up Tennessee and nothing would come up I had to search using the state. This is a paid service, charging each member yearly, PA could certainly pay google the fee to use maps. Or look into other map options, last resort take the mapping option off. When people are traveling looking for a place to stay most don’t have the time or energy to find a map to figure out where overnight campgrounds are located. Such a shame, spend a couple dollars and fix your app!

Version 1.5.1
I am having trouble with trip routing. I called and the gentleman on the phone said that I should have App version 1.5.1. I have version 1.4.0. He said to go to App Store and do update on the My Passport America app. There is no update and the version in the App Store is the same as I have 1.4.0. How an i update the your app? The trouble is only with trip routing portion of app.
When trip routing loads it comes up with a box that says, This page can’t load Google Maps correctly. If you hit ok the box goes away and the page is there with the tabs for passport camp ground locations but map is shadowed dark with “for development purposes only” on the page. Please respond

Needs to be fixed
This could be a good app but it has a major problem. For some reason it needs to have access to your location in order to work. For example, you’re in Southern California and want to look for an RV Park in Oregon. You don’t have access to WiFi so you turn on your iPhone hotspot. Since you’re using an iPhone hot spot which does not support “your location” the app will not let you look for a place 1000 miles away.
I can only think of two reasons for this. First, and I hope it’s not the reason, is that Passport America is recording where you are. The second, which I’m betting on, is that the programmer who wrote the app doesn’t know what he’s doing. I have let Passport America know about this issue about a week ago but it has not been corrected yet. I know, a week isn’t a lot of time but considering a lot of people use hotspots to access the internet it means the app is useless to a lot of people until it’s fixed.

Mapping better, park info worse
Finding parks along a route beats searching for them by state. Unfortunately, clicking on the park icon brings up the name but no further info (link to park details doesn't work).
When searching for a park by name, I see city and price. No info on restrictions for PA use, no amenities, no open season dates, no notes. This info is available on the PA website. Since you'll have to access the web site anyway, skip this app and go there directly.
In response to developer comments: in both cases a wheel shows up but the screen stays on the same page (map or search results).
