  • Can’t go wrong

Perfect port for an already perfect solo tabletop board/card game.
  • Game is good, app needs help.

This game is hard. I need clear help from the rules but, the rules are for the card game and don’t help with the app’s gameplay. There is a tutorial, but it is sorely lacking in how to actually play step by step. I shouldn’t have to search online gameplay on how to play. In addition, the app crashes on a regular basis. I paid for these troubles?

  • Nice port of the card game

The game plays in a convenient length of time. Not having to shuffle the decks is great. The fact that the app enforces the rules means that I no longer make mistakes (so I don’t have to restart my games). The high scores and achievements keep me playing.
  • Worth the effort

This games takes a little while to figure out but the strategy is so rich and fulfilling. It’s super addictive and fun to play!
  • Decent port of a fun solo card game that need UI improvements

As far as solo card games go, Friday is one of the best (up there with the Oniverse series like Onirim). The theme is fun and this is one of my favorite games from that designer, Friedemann Friese (along with one of his newer economic games, Futuropia). However, the UI (User Interface) on this port needs some work. I find that the touch controls are not responsive enough and sometimes I press an arrow or button and I’m unsure if it registered the action (this rarely happens in other apps so I know it is this UI). I know the programmers are working on this so with any luck this might be an issue that will be remedied. I wouldn’t mind a higher resolution interface as well (especially for tablet use).

While the vertical layout of the game works great on my iPhone (when I’m on the move), I much rather prefer playing this game on a tablet when I’m at home. Such is the case, a horizontal layout would really benefit this game. Similar games have adopted that option (Onirim for example) so I know it can be done.

I’ve played this game on an iPad Pro (1st gen), iPhone 5C and XS and haven’t had the game crash once so I can at least attest to it being a stable build.

If you like solo games I would recommend supporting the programmers who are still working on this fun little game and buy it!

  • One of the most beautifully designed solo card games in existence.

I keep coming back to this one again and again. It's chock full of interesting decisions and myriad ways to mitigate bad luck. The rules are relatively simple for a game with such depth, but it's tough to win, with a steep how-to-play-well learning curve but all the more satisfying for that. There are enough options to tweak the difficulty, to allow even the best players to be challenged but also allowing a more casual and victory prone experience should you just want to relax.

It's a case study in modern game design, demonstrating how depth and complexity can be generated from individually simple interacting elements. Friedemann Frise is a genius.

If you love card games or want to take a step beyond all those patience variants, then it's a no brainier.

Buy this before you buy your lunch.

  • Great potential, let down by bugs and poor implementation

I gather things have been done since launch to help new players along (though the rules seem like they’re written for the physical version), but we’re still left with the occasional bug that won’t allow for pressing a button, and no BACK option if you’ve changed your mind about a move. Also, if you lose, the game crashes. This hasn’t appeared to cause lasting damage so far.
I’ll be sticking around to see if this gets tweaked, but caution to potential buyers; there’s fun to be had here but you might get your patience tested.

  • So addicting!

It takes some time to learn the ropes but well worth it! Lots of new strategies are discovered the more you play. Ten stars.
  • Great but...

This game is definitely entertaining and challenging, and I wish I could have given it 5 stars. The UI is functional but substandard when compared with other modern apps. There are frequent crashes and “File delete error” alerts. My biggest complaint is that a paid game should never show pop up advertisements. This one does, although infrequently.

Fix the bugs, drop the ads, and this game would be great.

  • Friday

Faithful to the card game! I wish it had a way of saving my game even when I close the app, but it doesn’t need it. I’d still play the physical game before I pick up the app, since it’s hard to learn a board game on a phone. Great game overall!
