A slow tiring inconvenience
TLDR I can happily cycle a casual computer bike 8 miles without issue, after about 2 on one of these with the electric assistance I’m just as tired...
These bikes are heavy and I mean really heavy, they barely move until the electric motor kicks in. They also have no fearing which would be fine but these are in such an easy gear that when they do get moving they move so slowly there’s no point having the motor assistance at all...
The ride comfort is atrocious too, and standing on the pedals to avoid bumps doesn’t feel particularly sturdy and there seems to be a fair amount of resistance when freewheeling.
Honestly it seems like whoever designed these bikes never rode them. I’ve ridden a couple of other bikes from similar services and these are by far the worst I’ve tried.
I’d also love to know why Euston station is a red zone, seems like high traffic stations would be one of the places you’d want to encourage people leaving bikes.

Handy good value bikes, room for app improvement
Love love love these bikes! Handy, easy to ride, automatically charge my card, hassle free! One improvement would be to more easily search your destination to see where the bike stations are, it’s difficult finding where you’re going and where the stations are without a search function for destination! Other than that - love them and use them every day for my commute

Good service
The bikes are fun and a good mode of transport fair Prices. something left to be desired in the app and steering of the bike but overall I would use them again.
Easy
Quick way to get around town even though it was raining - will use again!
Outrageous
Be careful when using the service as if you are unaware of where you can ride and accidentally go beyond the ride zone, the bike will lock up and the app will offer zero up front help on how to deal with the situation. When dealing with customer service after being charged £50 their stance is a very unsympathetic ‘you should have read our FAQ’.

Difficult to navigate
Difficult to tell which zone is permitted or not (there’s white area that is permitted cycling zone, the red area which you can pause by not return bike, and grey area which you’re unable to cycle). Also hard to find the “station” where you can leave the bike free of charge. The app is a bit too chunky to use (too many different options under drop down menu when what you ready need is find the bike, unlock, and find out where you can leave them at)

Love the bikes
They must have fixed the issues other people have had. I was able the register in less than 5min. The bikes are amazing quality and feel super safe (stable and solid breaks)!
Worked perfectly for me - best of the electrics and love you can choose pedal power and cycle free!
Don’t know if they’ve fixed problems other people have had. Worked super smoothly for me on iPhone.
Paid £1 on card. Chose to use Freebike option without electricity and was totally free (except for the 9 pence for the 18 minutes I paused the bike to have a croissant)
Lush.

I gave up and walked
Being stranded in london with no trains running due to a power outage, and needing to get across the place to a last minute hotel, I saw a neon Freebike and thought perfect! That’s just what I need, alas, after ten minutes of standing in the rain, installing the app and then trying repeatedly to make a payment (never seen anyone make Apple Pay so difficult to use- i think if apple saw your implementation they would not even let you use it) being told repeatedly apparently that my country which was set to the preset option of gb, given that I was in London, was not valid, eventually I gave up and just walked, there are other bikes you can just put a quid on and you can get jump bikes via the Uber app apparently, do that instead, this is a total waste of time

Dreadful
There is so much wrong with this app/product. Took me 10 times longer to sign up for this then it had for lime and for jump. Extremely buggy signup process and billing process. And you have to park it in a designated spot. And the parking is a nightmare: you have to press the brake and hope/pray it has registered the press. Pointless. Thanks for wasting my time at such a steep price.
