  • Confusing and inoperative

Had to search online to determine the difference between lite and touch (the former being a limited trial version to test before buying). Also learned that the interface differs significantly from the photos. However I never got that far as the app only loads to a black screen. So happy I was able to confirm it doesn’t work before spending any money, but if they want to actually provide a trial that’d help. But what do I know.

  • It never worked for me

Primarily I got it for to use with Jellyfin, at that time it’s slow and crash very often. There is no update since 2y. Now when I open all I get is blank screen.
  • doesn’t work anymore

This app hasn’t been updated in a while and doesn’t work on iOS 16. It asks for network permissions and then it’s just an empty black screen, no way to configure anything. Sad.
  • MrMC is dead and should be removed!

The app (all versions, paid for) for IOS and tvOS has been abandoned and is buggy with no support. Apple needs to stop selling dead apps!

  • Close but needs Improvement

I downloaded the Lite version to try this app before buying. When it works, it works well. Unfortunately, it seems to take several tries to start watching live TV from my MythTV backend. Either the guide data does not show, or the live TV shows channel unavailable. This occurs even when I verify the channel works by checking my Kodi front ends on my TV. Watching recordings and movies works very well. If the live Tv worked seamlessly, I would buy the full version immediately.

There could also be some improvement in the overall user interface. Getting to the controls for stopping, starting, pausing, etc, the media is not intuitive and takes a few tries to pull up the controls. A simple tap on the screen should bring up the media controls. It does not.

  • Plays DVD ISOs with full menu support

I have some DVDs that I converted to ISO to play on iPad. After a lot of failed attempts with other apps MrMC played these with full menu support (very important as these were more organized by menu than chapter) my only negative is this is not the easiest app to figure out, it does take some work to understand its process flow, but once I did that extremely happy!

  • Basically Kodi for tvOS

There have been many updates since many of the negative reviews. Many bugs have been squashed and many new features have been introduced. This app is basically Kodi for tvOS. There are a plethora of options to customize your experience and this is one of the few apps for tvOS that supports 7.1 atmos audio. There is also no subscription, so you get the full deal for only a few dollars. Compared to the Nvidia shield, this app makes tvOS much better.

  • Decent app, but horrible on IOS

I wanted a consistent app to play files from my NAS and was using MRMC on my Shield and when I picked up an Apple TV 4K I was happy to see it on IOS, but the functionality is not on par with the Shield and while the Apple TV 4K has better PQ I can not say the same for MRMC which no matter what settings I play with has raised blacks such that there is no perfect black even in the letter box bars. Very disappointed this app is such a mess.

  • Poor

This review is strictly for using MrMC as a remote and/or client for Plex. Don't waste your time let alone purchase the full version. This is the typical coder's app. I'm sure it's elegant but only in the mind of its parent. The "human" interface stinks. Nonsense like it takes about 30 seconds to pull up the video controls (pause, FF, etc). Not because the app is slow. But because it is a complete mystery to anyone in this household as to how to access them. 3 of us have spent 2 days trying to find the magic touch that shows them. And all of us have found the only way is to tap all over the place, one finger, two fingers, whatever. Usually takes about 30 seconds before the controls suddenly appear. At which point, if you wanted a pause, you're not too impressed with MrMC. Setup is perplexing. Alphabetical order does not exist in the main menu, nor can the order be changed. I can go on but suffice to say, this might be a great client and/or remote for Plex. But it's not.
