  • Grim, haunting, beautiful

My late wife got me this game and I finally was able to revisit it recently.

The puzzles all intertwine amazingly, and there is a haunted, forlorn, sinister feeling to everything. If you would like to step into a universe of symbolic depravity while bending your brain on very creative and original puzzles, this is a game with a convoluted theme, eerie graphics and music, and decently friendly interface. The puzzles, while not discouragingly difficult, may keep you entertained for days, and the secrets range from tap-rewarding to fiendish.

  • Awesome fun! Another Rusty Lake hit!

Great level of challenge for sure. There are negative reviews below that say some of the puzzles are too hard and “nobody” can solve them without looking online. Well, I guess I’m nobody, because I just completed it all over the course of 2 evenings, without a hint or ever a glimpse of a walkthrough. Will it take you some time to complete? Yes, but that’s the point! Who wants a game that you finish in 15 mins? Well worth the money spent. There aren’t many activities that will give you many hours enjoyment for only $2.99. If you like a good challenge, this one is for you. If not, don’t blame the developers because it’s too hard for you, just delete it and look elsewhere for something easier.

  • A classic

I’m a 33 year old mom and don’t usually play games on my phone, but Samsara Room happened to come across recommendations in the App Store and my kid was asleep so figured why not. I’ve now played almost every single game Rusty Lake offers, including the ones that cost money.

I recommend this one to someone starting out the series. It’s in my opinion the least difficult of all of the others, but I still thoroughly enjoyed playing.

This game is simply brilliant. Please keep the games in this series coming, I will keep playing!

  • Work of art

This is one of the most imaginative and thought provoking experience I’ve ever had with a game, a mobile game nonetheless.
The story is creative and enjoyable, and utilized the 10 plagues very well. Oh, and don’t get me started on the music, the perfect mix of calming and unnerving elements make the music yet another aspect of why this game is great. I do hope you continue this series. And hey, maybe you might get a full length film someday.

  • the fifth plague????

i downloaded this game on both my macbook and my phone and every time i reach the fifth plague it freezes up during the cube flashback to Caroline writing her equations in the cave. Even when I close the app or uninstall it I can’t get past that freeze and can’t finish the game. Is there anything I can do or is this just a bug??
    Otherwise, great story! great game!

  • Extremely Frustrated

I have purchased every cube escape game that has hit the App Store. This was the last one I did. And now…

I can’t find any other games that can fill the need of puzzle and adventure.

Rusty lake (along with second maze at times) has blown me away with their gameplay, storylines, and characters. Every app brings a different element of the story and a different adventure that is crucial. I will be forever replaying old games from here and hoping that another game series will begin. And you know, just like a matchbox in a dresser drawer, I’ll always be here for Rusty lake.

  • Get this game right this second

The developers of Rusty Lake are some of the most dedicated people ever. Every aspect of this game—the puzzles, the characters, the music, the art, was wonderful. Very eerie without being graphic, this game makes you think. A lot of people writing these reviews obviously don’t understand the lore of this series, which is unfortunate because this game tells an amazing story. I’m telling you, you HAVE to play this game, it’s just so good. It’s only a couple bucks, and the developers usually have annual sales. I love their community and I’m telling you you’re going to want to be a part of it. Much love to the Lake <3

  • COMPLETELY abandoning what worked

What Rusty Lake productions excelled at was its unique way of storytelling, eerily whimsical artwork, and the intertwined world they’ve built.
But the latest RL trilogy feels nothing short of a hasty, hollow Hollywood remake created to rake in money from its loyal followers. As an avid fan of the horror genre, it’s obvious the creative team at RL has put all their efforts into making a movie for Hollywood and completely abandoned its iOS gaming division. There’s no vision, no world, no passion and no soul… which are all the necessary ingredients for great storytelling. Instead, it has become yet another 3 buck game lost amongst the ocean of forgettable app store merchandise.

  • One of my favorite Rusty Lake adventures

Thank you for making them inventive, dark, addictive, and entertaining. When I start one, I can’t put it down until I finish. I’m glad you have the you tube walk throughs, though I try not to use them, you do get stuck sometimes. I prefer logic t o trial and error and most of the puzzles can be logic’d. Thank you, I can’t wait for another one. I wish you would do more after quests, like in roots, I really enjoyed going back for more!
