  • Confusing Versions

I purchased what I think (?) was Sky Safari 7 a few years ago for around $6 (I don’t remember the exact amount). Now I’m noticing that the app is called Sky Safari Eclipse 2024. The help screens still refer to it as Sky Safari 7 though. What’s more confusing is that the help screens refer to “Plus” and “Pro” versions being available, but other screens offer access to a “Premium” version. So at this point I’m confused about (a) what version I have, (b) what version I would want, and (c) what version(s) are available. All this up-selling gets a little annoying after a while. Otherwise it’s a very good app.

  • I TRULY love and appreciate this app, but…

    - for many of those astronomy fans + serious observers out there, literally 😉. Could y’all pls finally remove all other unlock features and make this whole app open source. That’ll be really great for the long run and countless more people will certainly acknowledge it given more time and effort.

    - thank you, Radu

  • No “advanced search”, false advertising

I bought this basic version of the app because I read online that SkySafari can search by multiple details like object type, magnitude, ascension, declination, altitude, azimuth, distance, etc. The description of this app lists “Advanced Search - find objects using properties other than their name”.

But this is a lie, the only search option is to find by name. $3 spent one a lie. Their website (which seems to be out of date by a version or 4 depending on which page your on) says there’s an “advanced search” option under the text entry field on the search interface - only there isn’t.

So I then paid $30 for the Pro version, thinking “oh, the advanced search must be in the pro version”. Nope, exactly same search functionality.

They need to be more clear about NOT offering advanced search options in their apps and I need a refund.
