Absolutely delicious

From the pastries to the salads to the sandwiches (not even starting in on the desserts) Flour makes scrumptious food. I love the order ahead feature - especially because the secret is out and it’s usually crowded in the Mass Ave location. Love the turkey sandwich and the Cobb salad and my favorite scone - well - I’m not telling because then it will sell out sooner in the day! If you haven’t yet tried it find a Flour and try it out!!

What Happened?

This app used to be good to use until some error left me unable to order anything to be ready at a specific time or even “right away.” Until that’s fixed then the app is completely pointless.

The App, Not The Food

First off, this is not a review of the food at Flour, though I can say that is all delicious. Nor is it a review of the Boston location on Cambridge Street, but it has a wonderful staff and a great atmosphere.

This is a review of the app. Despite a clean and relatively intuitive design with very good product pictures, the actual order process leaves much to be desired. At no point was I able to book a pickup time for even a hour in the future. The option was there, but not the execution.

Ignoring that issue, notice that an item is unavailable is not given until checkout. Every attempt to modify the order resulted in the need to start from scratch. Otherwise, multiple orders may appear and then the cart needs to be cleared. Leaving just some items was not possible.

If I hadn’t been in a time crunch while visiting someone at nearby Massachusetts General Hospital (a 3-minute walk once you take up to 15 minutes to exit the building) I would have ordered in person, giving me an opportunity to chat with the amiable staff and the pleasant clientele.

Worst Customer Experience in Boston

It’s amazing that after so many years the Flour owners and management team have not figured out an operational model to better engage customers. Whether it’s having to wait in line to order and then wait again for coffee / pastries or wait and wait and wait for an order ahead order to hit the shelves, they just don’t get it. With the number of people behind the counter, one would think it would be a brilliant customer experience. Just embarrassing, especially given the price points and brand posture.

We love flour through and through. Food is freshly made each time!!

I love Flour, but the app is broken

I love ordering from here, but the order ahead feature is buggy. If I try to pick a time, it tells me “unavailable” and only lets me place an order for the next morning at 7am. If the time worked, it would be perfect.

Apple Pay

I want to place advance orders using Apple Pay.

No summer special

The summer options are not visible within the app, so I am never able to get them when I visit bc they are always ‘OUT’

My Sanity Beacon

Over the past two years, almost daily I order on the app and walk over to pick up nourishment for my small business.
It has been the highlite of many days and the Presence of Flour Cambridge St , it’s “vibe” ;) so to speak adds an authentic value to our neighborhood.
