  • Why does this app next full phone access

Why does this app require access to my phones camera, microphone and photos in order to do anything, all I need it to do is control the Lume Cubes I purchased. I cannot imagine any valid reason for this requirement.
  • Missing small but important feature

The app syncs with the lights pretty well when flash is firing, that’s pretty impressive. However, unlike the iOS camera app and many other 3rd party camera apps, it doesn’t utilize the volume buttons as physical shutter release. This makes it pretty awkward to take photos if you’re used to your iPhone volume buttons as shutter release and it makes all 3rd party Bluetooth shutter remotes useless since all of them use “volume up/down” to remotely control the shutter on your iPhone camera. I know it’s such a small feature but these little things that people take for granted contribute to the intuitive user experience which this app is lacking so far.

  • camera angle update needed

it doesn’t match with iphone X or 11’s camera angles. cannot select angle, even the view angle and photo angle are different. please do update it.
  • Works, just needs some love!

First off, I got my LumeCubes and I LOVE THEM, so know that I’m already a happy customer! The app is simple and stripped down, which is good for me (I only use it to control the Cubes). One thing that drives me absolutely BONKERS is that whenever I drag left to decrease the intensity sliders it slides in the red Delete bar. I have to be super careful, or quickly drag right first, then left in order to avoid that. I think the app works well but that gives me so much frustration!

Thanks for the feedback and support Halobatty! We'll be addressing this as part of our next generation app that will be more control centric.
  • Email required to pair Bluetooth

Oh, you want to use this app. Umm., we’re going to need your email first.
  • Unimpressive product

I ordered this product thinking it would revolutionize the lighting in videoconferencing. But it was a real disappointment. Packaging looks solid and nice but it would better if the mount is in the same box as the light. The App does not have any added value - lightness adjustment should be changeable from the cube. Suction is debatable and it would be more reliable if it is a clip. I set the lighting at 20% and still found it distracting during use. The direct light above camera hurts eyes a lot.

Thanks for the feedback Orange桔. The brightness can be adjusted using the button(s) on the cube as well as via the app for more fine grained control. You may also wish to try using one of the silicone diffusers as they will soften the light. Note that the suction mount should be robust on most smooth surfaces. • Promising app but needs work.

I have the Lumecube 2.0 and was excited to use the app to adjust the light. The light settings are a bit funky, and can get stuck in a few weird states. When I first adjusted the brightness slider I thought maybe the app just didn’t work at all. Sliding from 20% to 100% and back gave no visible changes to the light at all. Turning it on and off with the toggle worked though. Then I slid down to 7 percent and the light changed. I quickly realized that the slider is setting my light to full power at 10%. The whole thing if off by a power of 10. So 5% is actually 50%, 2% is 20% you get the picture. The jump is pretty jagged.
It’s a shame I was hoping for finer tune controls.
Hopefully the developer see this and fixes the bug in a future update.

Thanks for reaching out Mwachowski. Needless to say, that certainly shouldn't be happening. The entire range of the slider should control the intensity of the Lume Cube. Please reach out to us at support@lumecube.com if the problem persists after a reboot of your phone and we can work with you to resolve.
  • Phone HOT, battery drained

The app works ok, although I’m looking forward to the promised UI update. However, when this app is running, my iPhone X gets HOT, even if the cube is off and the app is in the background. I have to force quit to stop the power drain. Takes my phone battery from 100% to 50% in just over an hour. I like being able to control the brightness but find I need to force quit the app after setting the light so my phone doesn’t die.

Lume-X should only use significant energy when running in the foreground as it uses Bluetooth to scan for Lume Cubes in the vicinity and to periodically read from any connected Lume Cubes. When in the background, the Bluetooth scanning is stopped and any connected Lume Cubes are disconnected and as such the energy usage should be minimal. The planned control centric UI will give more control to the user regarding Bluetooth scanning and Lume Cube connections. Please reach out to us at support@lumecube.com if problems persist.
  • Need to fix dark mode

They flipped on the dark mode support without actually making sure the app works in dark mode. Text fields become unreadable thanks to black text on dark gray backgrounds and things generally look awful.
  • It functions, but it's inelegant and backward.

The app allows the lights to connect, and you can control them. Fine brightness control is nice, as is the ability to change flashing modes.

However, I use these as portable lights for my cameras, not my phone. It seems silly to open it and it's default landing is a camera app. I think it'd be more appropriate to have a default view of connected lights and their controls, with a camera option.

The light controls look like they just appear over the camera app view, and it just looks ugly and unrefined.

We're currently designing an updated interface and control flow for Lume-X. There will be less focus on the camera functionality and more on Lume Cube control and feedback. It should be very intuitive and straightforward to navigate.
