  • Product probably good; App & support poor.

The Lume Cube is probably a good product but instead of offering just a tiny bit more detail in the instructions that come with it, you end up having to go to their website which is almost as confusing. They do a good job of convincing you to download this App which supposedly has you sign in and register your product. Did not work for me - all I have is a photo / video screen with a mysterious blinking logo that doesn’t respond when you click on it. Navigation on their site is poor. Someone needs to go back and finish their Marketing degree.

Thanks for the feedback MulberryMan. Our next major version will be more focused on control so should be a lot more intuitive. We've also updated our website where you can find a detailed video on Lume-X: https://lumecube.com/pages/app#shopify-section-app-video. Note the blinking logo indicates there is no Lume Cube connection. It will turn solid blue once a Cube is connected. You can then tap the logo to control the Cube. Please feel free to reach out to our support experts at support@lumecube.com for any additional guidance.
  • No light adjustments

I’m a Kickstarter and am happy to finally get my 2 Lyme cube Airs.
As for the app, It’s just another weak video app. I was hoping to be able to adjust the cubes light output, have a flash mode etc. I removed it from my phone for now. Hopefully they can work on the app to make it more useful.
  • Ed solano

Mi videos and pictures are better with this awesome light and the app works really good!! Thank you!!
  • Dead in the water

After the new update my lights won’t connect. They still work on a borrowed android device, but not on my iPhone. Help
  • Not compatible with iPhone SE

This update renders all features useless when used on an iPhone SE, iPhone 5s, and iPhone 5. There’s also no option to downgrade. The cubes can (in theory) still be used with the two button interface built into the unit; however, due to overheating issues and extremely short battery life it is difficult to get a single shot off before running into issues with the lights malfunctioning and sporadically turning off.

  • Simple enough, but

It does lack instructions but I found it easy enough to figure out by trial and error. It is basically another camera app that can talk to Lume cubes. Good for an off camera flash option for iPhone. Slow, though, your subject needs to be prepared to be in the light for about a full second. One nice thing is the ability to drive the cube(s) while setting exposure. What is sorely missing is access to iPhone X features like telephoto camera and portrait mode.

  • Needs Timer & more features

The features that are there work fine, however I am disappointed some very basic functionality is missing and there seem to be no workaround. If i want to take a group shot from tripod, I can’t do it with me in it as there is no timer option. Selfie stick remotes mostly operate through emulation of volume button press, which also is not supported. The device itself is great and definitely deserves a more functional app or integration with established camera apps.

Thanks for the great feedback VladKam. Stay tuned for upcoming releases of Lume-X with additional control features.
  • DOES THIS APP ACTUALLY WORK ??

This App doesn’t seem to work at all. There are no controls. No options. There is just a different colored camera. ZERO LIGHT CONTROLS OR SETTINGS.
Can anyone explain how this works ??
  • No walkthrough

There is no walkthrough on how to do anything with this. You download it and it is just a camera app. No menu, no “how to connect”, just a camera app. If you press a button on the cube though it will prompt you to register the cube. Still not sure if I did that right. The auto populated field had a different number than my serial number but it never asked for the serial number so I guess that will be it? Who knows. They need to better control their introduction process. Remember, first impressions are big.

Thanks for the feedback Corbinviper. You did indeed do the right thing. The pre-populated "Serial Number" is sufficient to identify your device for support purposes. Our next major version will be more focused on control and should be a more intuitive out of the box experience. Note that you can also access a detailed video of Lume-X on our website: https://lumecube.com/pages/app#shopify-section-app-video
  • I liked the previous version better

The previous version had multiple flash options which worked for me since I am a night photographer. This version only has one flash option and it doesn’t even flash, the light just stays on. The strobe option is cool but it’s not useful to me at all. Please bring back different options for flash length.

    Developer Response

When using Lume-X for photography, the flash duration is variable due to varying Bluetooth latency. This is to ensure the flash coincides with the shutter. Other flash durations can be set in the Mission Control that are applicable to optical trigger (turn on optical trigger mode and you'll see the updated flash durations).
