  • In 2023, a fair value for a price

A very charming game with a quirky storytelling and rather simplistic gameplay. It is true that it could be completed in single digit hours.

I see that a lot of reviewers from back 2018 complained about the price of the game. Lo, behold how times have changed. This game is perfect value for five bucks. Nowadays it’s rather difficult to find a game in this genre which does not have some type of monetizing scheme or is charged less.

On the other hand it’s not a must play. Figure it out for yourself but I am sure you won’t be regretting paying for it full price.

  • 3 out of 5. Here’s why…

As most reviewers state: the game is beautiful and fun. The concept is great and the environment is relaxing. However, the gameplay is mostly story-driven, way too short, and has no replayability to justify a rating higher than 3. Donut County is a wonderful concept that everyone should try and I think it’s worth the price tag. The biggest issue is there are very few levels that focus on our interaction and instead one must click through tremendous amounts of dialogue to get to the next level. I’d like to state that in and of itself that’s not a bad thing. But, I wanted to play a game where I’m mostly controlling a hole that swallows things up; and I didn’t fully experience that. Lastly, there is a Credits level that crashes every time I start and being that this game has been out for some time, I’m not sure the issue will be fixed.

  • Not enough content

I love the concept and gameplay, but it does cost a bit much for not that much content. I get that the 4.99 is how the developers make money, but for 19 relatively short collection levels, some extra story thrown in there, and a boss fight and then free range with the quadcopter afterwards (which is really slow so you can barely go anywhere), its enough to last you at least one day, you can maybe stretch it out to two if your lucky. You can replay the levels to your liking, and every level in the game is connected so you can get to them with the quadcopter. Theres not that much hole action in the game. The hole is used in almost all levels but that doesn't mean the hole is always present. The boss fight is pretty annoying too. Overall, its not as good as it's sought out to be.

  • Originally played this on Steam, but loved it enough to buy again

The main complaint from most people (including me) would be that the game is pretty short. It’s short enough that you can easily finish it in one sitting. However I’ve chosen to buy this twice, and I don’t think the $5 price tag is asking too much. The story is cute and funny, visuals and music are very nice and I love the concept. I’m a huge Katamari Damacy fan, and this is basically the reverse so there’s so much to love. I really hope this developer makes another game like this, it’s an incredibly relaxing, fun game.

  • Great game

I honestly loved this game. You could tell the person that made it put a lot of effort into it. The game may be short but it is of great quality. The gameplay easy and the puzzles somewhat simple but still requiring brainpower to figure out. The story was cute and funny. The levels aren’t repetitive because of the simple puzzles you need to figure out. I didn’t have a single level I got stuck on and all the game physics related to the hole worked well. It is a fair price for this great quality game.

  • Cannot find support for problem

Ok. I’m not very good at games. I don’t play them very much. I bought this game because it looked cute and the review said it was easy. However I seem to be stuck at one point and I cannot find any help for this problem. I looked for support in the description of the app but it only took me to a page that my browser said was not secure. It seems to me that if I pay for an app there should be support for it. Very disappointed! The place I’m stuck is in the scenario with the retired people that look sort of like horses who like to watch bunnies. I put all the small things I can into the hole and the only thing that seems to be left is a pot which is too big to fit into the hole. If anybody wants to enlighten me about what to do please and thank you.

  • Is it really worth $5

Not really. I’d expect it to be a game to play long term, or have level/story updates. However, that’s not the case. Additionally, you can’t skip dialogue which I always prefer (especially for a simple game like this where I’m only really interested in actual gameplay). Most irritating thing is that there’s options for no sound and no music, but then I can’t play personal music on my phone at the same time as playing - the app automatically shuts off whatever music I have playing. Seems pointless to have no sound options if I can’t listen to my own music. Wish I could get a refund tbh

  • I love the story but is it really worth 5$

So I never write reviews so this is really something, anyway I absolutely adore this game but is it really worth 5 dollars? I mean don’t get me wrong the story is super cute and funny but I don’t think it’s really worth 5 dollars I mean the story is pretty short and there’s no like free play mode or something to do when the story’s complete but I feel like it could be worth money but not 5 dollars but maybe 2 dollars or maybe even 1 dollar but not 5 but other than that it’s super cute, funny and great so yah that’s my opinion

  • Great but short

This game is downright revolutionary. For some strange reason swallowing the world up with a hole that gets bigger after everything you consume is satisfying and fun. The characters are memorable and i really love the development and story line. The puzzles are super great and unique and you feel really good when you complete them. The final boss puzzles were good, but I found them a bit lacking. The overall idea of getting the keys from some rooms to unlock others was a good idea, but the second key wasn’t a challenge. You just went to the next room and grabbed it. The boss fight was also pretty easy, and really short, as is the rest of the game. We just need more. A sequel, maybe an update with more levels. Anything. This game needs something to keep continuing the gameplay, as the levels are aren’t very fun to play again.
