No thanks! Our local cbs and abc apps don’t require that. They have clearly slashed their IT budget by 95+%. The latest few updates have totally ruined this app. You can’t play an alert without an advertisement popping up and having to click through to ch12. Then when it does finally start playing, something that has nothing to do with the alert you got starts playing and you can’t fast forward through the BS that they are playing. If you hit the fast forward button, it just starts over again. They totally ruined this app in the last few years and I will recommend that everyone I know not watch or use ch12 unless they fix their BS problems in their app and their reporting. If I get an alert and I click on it, show what the alert is about, don’t take me through 10 minutes of advertisements and un related BS to never see what the alert is about. Absolute worst app I have ever downloaded. Oftentimes when I’m just trying to read a story, I inadvertently click on a pop up ad. It’s truly maddening, and has resulted in me turning to competitors‘ apps to read the local news. I used to live in Northern Virginia and loved the NBC4 DC app - still use that one today. PLEASE take some pointers from that app to see how it SHOULD be done. I get that there have to be ads, but they shouldn’t interfere with the overall experience. To have an ad pop up that you can’t close drives me nuts. Then the error-riddled copy finishes off what patience I have left. I now look for the same information on the channel 6 app which is much better (although they don’t seem to proofread either).
