  • Something Special

I don’t buy a lot of games for my phone, but this is something special. Growing up it was my dream to beat Abadox on the NES. I never actually achieved that goal, but now I have a new one. Thank you for this gift. Your passion truly shines through. :)
  • Best game ever!

  • Asking for a review REALLY early

So I guess I’ll write a lil something. I’ve played about half an hour to forty five minutes total at this point.

It’s pretty tough on Normal mode. I can get to the third level without using a continue so far. There seem to be minimum 11 levels to complete a run. So I haven’t gotten very far yet.

I’ve seen 4 or 5 bosses (some stages have two), and they’re all really fun and variable without being too tough if you don’t know their patterns. They aren’t super tank-y bosses, and battles don’t drag out like Dark Souls games, forcing you to relive the exact same attack sequence 200 times until you slip up once and have to redo the entire level.

The game is still too unforgiving for me to give it 5 stars just yet. Maybe I’ll edit my review after I sink a few more hours into it. A health increase item or power up is something that I would personally prefer, but I know something so important as health has been mulled over endlessly by the devs and will never change at this point.

All that said, I think the game is definitely worth the price. If the trailer interests you, pull the trigger. Each stage is easily digestible, and is perfect for mobile gaming, casual or obsessive. You can play a stage in under 5 minutes, or put in a nice full session.

    EDIT:
I’m now on the last level, and it is A REALLY HARD GAME. I used 40 continues on normal mode, and I still have to beat the final stage.
It’s still really fun about 4 or so hours in, and although I won’t replay it, I can see that it does have plenty of replay value.

The only thing I don’t like (besides how unforgiving the game is) is that my fingers can get in the way of where enemies spawn, and having to use a finger for such a tricky game is awkward in multiple occasions. But that’s the curse of mobile gaming, I guess. 4 star review stands.

  • Great game, awful controls

There’s no place to place my figure that would not obscure something important on the screen. That, combined with the unforgivable 8-bit difficulty makes for an unpleasant experience. There is a reason why game companies got away with super hard games in the late 80s: there were few alternatives and they wanted the content to last. Nowadays, it’s not that the gamer is a wimp, there’s just myriad games to play and other virtual stuff to do. So, at a certain point the game is just not worth it. I want my money back.

  • One of the best iOS games ever

Without a doubt this is one of the best games ever made for iOS. Instantly brings me back to my childhood. But it’s not just a copycat of my favorite Konami games. It is made with love and care, both on a technical and artistic level. The game is fun and challenging but never frustrating. Kudos to the team that developed this beautiful game. Looking forward to the sequel.

  • Retro heaven

This game is a perfect throwback to old school shoot em ups, with new twists, great levels, and great detailed retro artwork. This reminds me a lot of Dandara in terms of it being a high quality take on retro games. There’s an Easy mode and normal mode (which is really really challenging). I haven’t finished yet but I know I’m gonna want more levels by the end. Hopefully they make some more additions. Overall, highly recommend.

  • Sound is missing

Great looking game, but I’m unable to get any sound during game play... what’s wrong?
