  • There’s lots going on here

I love word games, and definitely enjoy this one. The downside for me is that it is absolutely jam-packed with features, including many that don’t really contribute directly to exercising your brain with words, which is why I play. The story, all the scoring options, different ways to acquire and level up your bears (and dress them), along with several different types of currency, make for a lot of details to familiarize yourself with if you are really going to play and appreciate everything involved. If you want a word game to immerse yourself in and enjoy having different activities and ways to score within the game, you’ll probably love this one. For me, it’s a little more detailed and busy than I prefer, but I’m still having a good time playing.

  • So Much Fun

I don’t usually write reviews for apps, but when I do, they’re either for really good apps, or for really awful apps. Alphabear 2 is one of those apps that looks like it’ll be fun for a while, and winds up in your phone’s “Frequently Used” section. Pay for no ads. Trust me, it’s cheap, one-time, and makes the game so worth it. But even if you don’t, you’ll never see your game interrupted by an ad unless you want one.

  • Great word game if you need a new fav for “winding down”

I like having something on my phone to unwind and this game is a winner. I’ve enjoyed it even more after figuring out what different events and strategies can accomplish to help you keep advancing- a nice balance between relaxing with a little bit of strategy and challenge thrown in. Thanks for a great game!
Update: after enjoying this game for months I finally decided to purchase the option to remove ads... definitely worth it! Makes it even more fun and relaxing to not have to bother with ads or TV Time. 👍🏼

  • Wordy fun!

I was looking for a new letters/word game and went through a few before I landed on one. This one is cute, keeps your interested. It’s not too repetitive and yet doesn’t get frustrating with too many new things which I thought at first it might. Ads weren’t too bad but I did upgrade to ad free because I like the game a lot. It’s super super cute and fun, I definitely recommend trying it!

  • Even better than the original

Alphabear 2 is similar to the first, but benefits from some added structure, variety, and a greatly improved feeling of fairness: if you’ve got a good vocabulary, you’ll rarely get stuck with unusable letters.

But let’s not kid ourselves: the real draw of the game is watching your bear try to fit the words you make into cute sentences/tweets at the end of each round. You’ll find yourself hunting for disturbing, bizarre, or downright obscene words just to see what depraved things you can get the little guy to say. Let’s just say: the results do not disappoint.

  • Great potential

This game has a great premise & starts out well, but you quickly get stuck where you can’t move forward without doing various things such as “tasks”, watching multiple ads called “tv time” & “leveling up” your bears at “bear school”. Even then, despite having numerous recommended bears for a level, the game will tell you that it’s probably still not possible to complete a level with the current bears without further leveling up, school, tasks, ads, etc. I have a feeling it’s to get you to buy packages of bonus coins, berries, etc. which are needed to level up, etc. I like the game, but there are other word games that don’t require near as many hoops to jump through. It’s a shame.

Here are some tips if you're feeling stuck in Story Mode: https://support.spryfox.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021971334-I-m-stuck-in-Story-Mode-a-k-a-The-Campaign-AB2-
  • Great fun and challenging too

I am a big fan of word puzzles - I pretend to myself that I’m sharpening my mind and not just goofing around with a game, haha.

This is a creative twist on word building games. The bears and story are cute and fun to follow, and the word puzzles and bonuses can change things up a lot. (For example, I activated a bonus a moment ago that turned at least half of my revealed letters to ‘s’...I had to do some thinking to get through that!)

Some things need more explanation, which is what keeps me from a five star rating. (School for example - I can level my bears but I do not really understand what’s happening re: sleeping etc)

Also bigger honey prizes would be nice - for the most part I seem to run out right as it’s time to focus on real life again, but it would be great to just play on through!

  • Fun,but ads and honey make it annoying

I was always a fan of the original alpha bears and this version is still a lot of fun, but there are just WAY too many ads. They also cap the amount of honey you get so you can probably only play around 4-5 levels MAX. Each level takes around 25 honey and the more you go on, the longer it takes to earn 1 honey. I’m at chapter 2 right now and it takes 2 minutes to get 1 honey. The game is really fun and I understand the need to have a more revenue based model, but the ads and the wait time for 1 honey make it a little difficult to justify keeping this game on my phone.

Thanks for the review! FYI, the recharge rate for honey (this game's energy system) is a constant one honey every 2 minutes 20 seconds; it does not increase as you go on. (The Honey Maximizer feature reduces the recharge time by 10% and also lets you store 50% more honey. The Honey Maximizer and No-Ads features are sold individually or as part of the Ultimate Bundle, if you want to consider whether one or both of these are worthwhile investments for your particular pattern of play.)
  • Crashes on launch

I absolutely LOVE this game (even more than the first one), and recommend it to everyone. SO ADORABLE! However, the last few months it has been crashing on launch. I usually have to try 3-4 times before it successfully opens. It almost seems like it fails the attempt to connect with Apple’s Game Center and crashes as a result. Regardless, thank you for creating my favorite phone game to date. Be well. <3

  • FINALLY!

Finally a new word game that’s actually NEW! This is actually my first time ever writing a review for a game. It’s actually THAT good! I was getting SO bored with the same old word games. It seemed like every one I’d tried were all the same. This game is fresh! The graphics are so totally adorable and the story line is actually worth taking the time to read! It’s funny, cute, addictive and you don’t have to wait a whole day for energy to replenish! I have absolutely ZERO bad things to say about this app! Try it! ❤️❤️❤️
