  • Great fun!

Great little game this one. I donโ€™t tend to review games unless they are awful or fantastic, this is definitely the latter!
Jumping is a little finicky on the touch controls, but you DO get use to it. The rest of the controls are faultless, and with the plethora of adaptations to the controls including moving the buttons to where you want them and increasing their hit box, a very well thought out addition to a very well thought out game.
    Great job guys!

  • I didnโ€™t play Dead Cells on PC or Console

Iโ€™m definitely going to now, of course, $30 price tag or not. The fact that I can get this a game of this level of quality on mobile is a testament to the fact that phones really are mobile gaming consoles. The degree of polish Dead Cells Mobile possesses is absurd. The animations are fluid and gorgeous, a range of different visual effects to stun you (and your enemies lolololol), cute little character animations like a shrug or a head tilt with some flavorful commentary add personality to the game that so many others lack. The music and sound effects are both great, fitting the mood of the levels and the weapons/spells that make them. The difficulty and learning curve are up there, but not ridiculous at all and learnable even for those not well versed in this genre. The persistent unlockable system works well and feels fair. Overall, Dead Cells Mobile feels like the full package!

  • Growing on me.

The controller is fiddly. Youโ€™ll find yourself dying multiple times because of it. Then, having to start from the beginning every time you die becomes irritating. Mainly because you have to go through the same levels again. Still, after playing non stop for about 6 hours Iโ€™m finally used to the controls and the game does start to open up in a good way.

All in all itโ€™s not that bad I guess. You just need to persevere at the beginning.

  • Tons of fun

Fantastic game, heaps of replay value and items to unlock to keep each play through feeling fresh and exciting
  • Touch screen functions are great but can use one thing:

Love the game on all platforms and know adapting to mobile can be tricky. This game has everything from the resolution and attention to detail to the game mechanics down from the other platforms and handles very well speed-wise even with a Bluetooth controller which I thankfully had.

But for people who donโ€™t have a controller or donโ€™t want to bring it with them on their daily commute; can we have the characterโ€™s slide option be FULL screen rather than just the right side of the screen? The game runs SO smoothly with the slide function not being a button to push but rather the sliding of the screen and I think to have the slide option take over the whole screen would complete the touch screen character control function 100%.

  • Pixel perfect...

Playdigious have done an exceptional job in porting this to iOS. It looks absolutely gorgeous and while the controls took me a few minutes to get to grips with, they soon became second nature. It also plays super smooth on my old 2016 iPad Pro and Iโ€™ve experienced no bugs or glitches so far. For me itโ€™s up there with Hyperlight Drifter for my iOS game of the year..

  • Itโ€™s Dead Cells! With slight issues

I love Dead Cells having the game on the PS4 and Xbox so to have it on my iPhone is amazing. The game itself is identical to the console and PC big cousins and that should be a glowing recommendation enough.

However, it loses a star for me thanks to the controls which feel slightly awkward, and fractionally laggy (as most on screen analog sticks do) it lacks the accuracy of the console controls and to often I find myself wanting to slam downwards on an an enemy from above only to slide slightly left or right instead. The same also applies for climbing vines, ropes or chains. It feels like the game demands accuracy that the control system canโ€™t quite hit.

The other thing that loses the game itโ€™s vital 5th star is the lack of custom game. This isnโ€™t as big a deal as the floaty controls which have ensured that as a seasoned player of the game Iโ€™ve been frustrated trying to get off the initial 0BC levels, but it is another oversight that is a minor irritant.

Overall as a game Dead Cells is fantastic if you like Rogue Like platformers and I would say that apart from the controls any review for the game online on any platform is applicable to this version too. Superb game with a great port but marred by slightly off control system but great for scratching that itch if you have no other access to the game while on the move.
