  • Fun fast-paced roguelike

Really smooth gameplay, controls took a few tries to get used to but is great from then on. Occasionally have some issues with movement, where my character is ducking/crouched when I don’t want him to be. Also I keep getting the same achievement unlocked messages over and over again which is kinda annoying… I.e. first time reaching distillery, even though I’ve been there multiple times already.

  • Great game

Great game I lost my progress though and I just beat the skeleton giant please how do I get my progress back
  • Brilliant

Play on an iPad Pro with an xbox controller which works great - also own the xbox version, but love the portability of playing on my iPad. Art style and music is wonderfull, and the whole replay concept is fantastic. As good as playing on the console. Cant wait until the new DLC is available on IOS - The Queen of the Sea

  • (Non-generically) (Un-Ironically) ***Awesome Game***

This is a challenging game that keeps you coming back for more. You die once and that’s it...Game Over! You restart at the beginning with a rusty sword. You do continue to accumulate perks and “tech tree builds”. But you do lose all your loot and gear. You restart at the beginning with the rusty sword or beater bow and arrows.
The writing and storyline are witty and entertaining. A quality that is all too often neglected...or just downright poor.
You need to strategize your gameplay. Organize and optimize your skills and weapons to stay alive longer. You have melee and/or ranged attacks. I personally like the Electric Whip!
Boss fights can be challenging and difficult, but not ridiculously impossible. Very balanced, yet challenging gameplay. Not for children or cry babies...
Find a wiki or tips and tricks doc out there on the interwebs to learn how to acquire some permanent upgrades/perks.
This game is un-ironically unique. Slap down your shekels and get this. The entertainment value far outweighs the price of the game.
Lastly, using an external controller is very suitable and makes an intuitive fit for gameplay.... but is no way mandatory, or even needed for the unique gaming experience like no other you have ever played.

  • Great game but issues with controller support

Awesome port but for one issue. Controller support is a bit messed up. You are forced to use the analog stick to control your character regardless of whether your playing with an Xbox, PlayStation or Kishi controller. With how intense the game can get it would be much better to control with the thumb pad, but that’s not an option and there is no way to remap it. Having played this game for a long time on PC before switching to this version I definitely felt handicapped by the controls.

That said it’s still very playable and ridiculously addictive. This is the game I keep coming back to between every other game I play. I have Apple Arcade, but I wind up spending more time grinding on this then on all the games on there. Its just a really solid, addicting metroidvania.

But please developers if you read these, let us control with the thumb pad! It would make such a big difference.

  • Only one real complaint

The game is amazing by almost all means. The graphics are enticing and the variety of weapons is very enjoyable. My biggest complaint for the mobile version is the input delay. Constantly I see myself doing inputs that I know it didn’t do, so I record my boss battles and find that down smashes are happening when the recording shows a far left movement on the d pad followed by the dash button being pushed. Also sometimes it’s the exact opposite, sometime during boss battles I press the dash button for the first time (and on the recording it shows the button being pressed) but in game nothing happens and I proceed to lose runs to this. When it’s against the hand of the king, you can understand how infuriating this becomes. Besides this the game is awesome and I recommend it to almost anyone

  • Dead Cells is an amazing game but…

First off, let me say Dead Cells is one of my all time favorite games, and I’ve been gaming since ‘85. The game itself is 5 stars with no questions. I have 2 issues with this port on my iPad Pro though. Number one, the game locks you into using the analog sticks when using a PS5 controller. This game really needs to be played with a d-pad IMO. Second, I keep getting this audio glitch that interrupts the background music with noise that loops every second or two, and it’s EXTREMELY annoying. With that said, I’m so addicted I’ve bought this game 3 times, once when it was first released, once to get the collectors edition and again to have it on my big, beautiful iPad screen. YOU SHOULD BUY IT NOW!

  • One of my favorite mobile games

Don’t have a lot of games I can scratch my neck in anticipation to play on the phone like I do console or pc games, this is definitely the challenge and fun I’ve been looking for in a mobile game for a while. I kind of a souls like game where you get a lot of progress and if you die, you lose nearly all of that, but instead of leveling up your stats like an rpg, you invest your “dead cells” in other words souls into things that’ll help you in the long run such as instead of dying and losing all of your coins and starting out with nothing, you can save up to 3000 or 6000 coins which can be useful later, or even start out with a little better something if you want your early game to go faster and easier. I love this game, would recommend it for people who wants more than a free mobile game with pop up ads and simple gameplay that people made from unity in 2 weeks or something.

  • Lots of fun to be had

There is not compromise from the pc version
  • Mobile control

If you’re wondering about the mobile control like I did: It’s good enough for the normal difficulty run, but if you want to access end game and play for the true ending, expect a lot of frustration with the mobile control as you add boss cells.
