  • This game gets hard quickly

Overall this game is proving to be a hard one. At first this game starts out like most match 3 games. The opening stages are simple and it introduces you to new puzzle elements over time. However, once you have upgraded a location to tier 3 or 4 the puzzles become very tricky, and some stages expect you to be able to clear a lot of things in a very limited number of moves. On top of that this is a very energy hungry game. It is not uncommon to see locations needing 25-40 energy with your XP level in the teens for just 1 try, and you only generate 1 energy every 3 minutes. Combine this with G5’s usual lack of free gems for shop items and you have a very slow paced game with a high level of difficulty.

Hi! Thank you for your detailed feedback. We're sorry you're not enjoying the difficulty of the game. We've designed it with attainable objectives, however, working out the best strategy for some challenges may take some time. Try using tools to help you in locations and increase your chances of receiving the necessary items with talismans.
  • A lot of fun but I need more help

My biggest suggestion on this game is I need a lot more help than I can find. For instance, I still haven’t seen a way I can complete my profile if I don’t remember my original password on here.

Also, when I got to one level at the boardarium, there was a very fast tutorial on how to use the archery gun. I didn’t pay enough attention and there is no place I can find that will explain it to me again. I have also not found it to be intuitive. So I haven’t been able to win this round within yet, either.

So I might need a lot more help than the average player. I found one place on the Internet where a lot of players were asking questions in a forum but more questions were unanswered than answered, so IDK.

  • I play this all the time!

I play Jewels of Rome pretty much every day. There are a lot of different match 3 games and usually there is a special event happening, plus a few other fun additions. Some games are pretty challenging and will probably require tools to help you win, but there are ways to earn the tools through challenges and events. I do sometimes have to spend money for things but I do spend a lot of time playing and there aren’t tons of ads popping up in the middle of things so it seems reasonable. The artwork is also really well done and it seems like G5 has put a lot of effort into creating characters, the village and a story. I recommend it!

  • Needs more options to get items.

I like this game, but I think it’s really hard to advance unless you buy the necessary tools and boosters. A better way to handle this would be to earn low level tools and boosters when you complete a board, such as games like “Secret Society of Hidden Secrets”, or during the special events when you get the bonus items for completing the special board. You could save the really valuable tools and boosters for when you complete a level. I think players would have more enjoyment of the game and you would create more loyal customers. Unfortunately, as it stands now, you can only achieve tools and boosters if you complete a level. That makes it really really difficult to complete boards and is very frustrating. Why can’t you find other ways to give out tools? It would make the game more fun for everyone.

  • WAS my favorite matching game

I love this game and have spent many hours playing it but will be going back to other match games I have downloaded. I’ve reached level 88 and now I’m getting pop ups every 2-3 days forcing me to purchase a reagents bundle or the game will start over from the beginning and I will loose all my progress. Excuse me......wrong move developer. I will spend my money where I want to spend it. This isn’t the only match game I’ve downloaded and am much higher in levels on those. I have NEVER been forced to make a purchase just to keep my progress with them. Bad move on your part because this game will no longer be my #1 go to. More like last place , once in a blue moon. Hence the 3 stars. You would have gotten a 5 star review if you hadn’t started forcing me to make purchases just to keep my progression.

Hi, thank you for your review! The game doesn't reset any progress in case you aren't making purchases. Could you please send us more information about your issue? You can contact us at support@g5e.com. We'll be happy to look at this for you.
  • good match-3, but repetitive ads

The graphics are fine for a match-3 game, and unlike some other free games I’ve played, I was able to get through a fair number of levels without spending real money. There are some game mechanics beyond just matching. This game does have a few bad habits, though. The same ads kept coming up without me pressing any buttons to see them, and I really don’t need to see the same ad twenty times. Another pop up informed me that I had found an item which would allow me to visit the bank to buy stuff with real money. I didn’t realize that wasting dollars was such a prize. The game also pestered me for information that was none of its business, like my email address and my birthday. I guess you have to decide how long you’re willing to put up with these annoyances to play a free game. I’ve tried it for a while, and I’ll be moving on.

We need your email address to make sure your progress is saved and restored safely on a new device; your date of birth - to send you a gift on this special day. Keep in mind, however, that you can still play the game without providing this information. Please know that we value your opinion and take your input seriously - we’ll make sure your comments are forwarded to the right people.
  • Well thought through and fun game

Each little character’s blurbs are a bit too long/wordy, but so far that’s the only downside to the game that I’ve encountered. It is a super fun game that can stand on its own apart from copycat games like candy crush/tune blast/etc. The game has a clear theme and it follows the setting and the overall theme of the game to the smallest details. It seems like it is a very thoroughly developed. I do wish you didn’t have to always hold your phone horizontally to play the game though, it gets old and isn’t the most convenient orientation.

  • Ridiculously addictive

This game is great fun and gets progressively more difficult over time so that as your skills increase, your performance must remain consistent. The storyline is very engaging. There are so many different quests that at times the quest bar can be overwhelming. Nevertheless, there’s always something to do. What I love about this game compared to many others is that you don’t run out of energy immediately, and actually get to play. If I were going to change anything, it would be that it really isn’t possible to finish the levels in any kind of timely manner without power ups, and of course these must be purchased. However, I do find the purchase price is quite reasonable compared to other games. Occasionally, repeating a level over and over in order to get one specific random object is annoying. I have to say though, that it’s worth it, because I spend entirely too much time playing this game.

  • Like it but...

It seems like there are parts of the game that don’t work right. For example, players earn coins...but there is now way to redeem them for anything. I have earned 6 step barrels in my inventory, but they don’t show up as one of the tools to be used during actual game play. And rubies can be redeemed for tools and other items, but it is extremely hard to earn them so the player must resort to buying them. Contrast this with G5’s Mahjong Journey, which makes a lot more sense.

  • Excellent game! But could it be better?

This game is so much fun. The artwork is gorgeous, with an intriguing story that keeps you plain to learn more. I am currently on the wedding event and I cannot play this and fast enough to find out what happens next before time is up. I also love the use of education. The game has words of Latin for language and references to Roman history. I think future events could build on the potential educational aspect of the game. Perhaps a quiz event where characters educate the players and ask questions to see what they learned about history culture and language used in the game and event. It would be excellent for younger players and older players alike.
