As a newbie , I found this a Great started

Lots of simple games and quizzes , I have completed the first part and think the full subscription is good value . If you do the task you will learn a lot and improve . All you have to do is a apple it

Perfect for me

I can read music well enough to see a simple melody. I want to be able to take dictation. This is working. However, I really hate the little hold music ditty. Can I turn that off?

Great teAcher

I enjoy playing

Super!

Just what I’ve been looking for to complement my piano lessons and improve my sight reading. Easy to use and fun, easy to progress. I like it!

Excellent tool!

It helps me focus on the main aspects of music learning, in a truly entertaining way. I only wish the notes were much more focused on guitar playing rather than piano! Other than that, excellent tool

Like Duolingo, but for the language of music

It’s like Duolingo, same format, even the same visual style. It arguably works better for music, though, since notation is easier than a language. What I like in particular is that it pays different notes with different instruments, to give you a Sense of what notes sound like in different mediums. It feels like great fun, however I just started, so whether there is an actual learning effect that leads me to being able to compose my own tunes remains to be seen. The program is also incomplete; is doesn’t have courses for all aspects of musical notation.

Great

Great way to learn more skills

Good music memory booster

So far this app seems really good for helping to build memory of music theory. It’s engaging, the lessons are a good length and spread well over topics. It’s the best app of its kind I have found so far.

I think the cost is about right - it’s not bargain cheap, but by comparison to music theory books and lessons you get a good amount of dynamic content that is effective for learning.

Things that could be improved:
- there isn’t explanation of theory in the app, this is fine for me, but I suggest you need a bit of theory knowledge before starting this app, or a willingness to web search as you go :)
- would be good to have a mode where you don’t have to tackle all the lessons in order
- having a view of what new chapters are coming and when would be very useful, I’ll buy a subscription, but at the moment I wouldn’t go for 12 month because I don’t think it will keep me busy that long
- a separate help guide on how to draw the notation in app would be useful (I’m struggling to get the crotchet rest right!)

Good so far

Explanations would be welcome.
when something is wrong we are not presented with any corrections to explain why it was incorrect nor what the correct answer is.

That said, very engaging thus far!

Adding different modes, a game mode or flash cards mode, might make it more fun and tailored different learning styles.

Thank you to the team who produced this app.
I have been looking for something like this.😊

👍🏻

I started using this app because I was starting to lean flute but didn’t know the music notes. ScoreSkills is a fun, easy app to help beginners learn the notes.
