Have no previous knowledge

I learned a little bit about musical notes over fifty years ago at school where we made up tunes using a cardboard keyboard. Absolutely nothing since then. I saw your app and thought I’d give it a go. I’ve learnt so much about rhythm and identifying notes in melodies and I’m really enjoying that. I have been struggling with terms like ‘tonic’ and ‘dominant’ but I’m reworking through those sections and I’m getting there!

I think this is an excellent app and I’m glad I got it.

Thank you for this warm review. We'll be sure to make the tonics or dominants better going orward. Also, we would love to help with any magic you need :) , please email us at support@compoze.co to continue this conversation. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Meh

I really liked the way it starts but after the first third of a lesson I need to pay. I think because it isn’t someone taking time out of their day to teach me I shouldn’t have to pay, and the app doesn’t think of people in school because not everyone has that kind of money to throw around on an game that teaches music theory

You know what they say- "You're either paying for the product, or you are the product". We're not in the business of stealing your data or selling you to advertisers. We want to make music education fun, amazing, and affordable as it costs less than a single music lesson per year to subscribe. 🎶🙏🏻

First impression

I like the repetitive nature. Easy to tap and use.

Great Supplement

I am trying to learn music theory on my own and have bought a couple books to do so. The books have examples but I was hoping to find something that I could follow along with and “hear” what I was learning. I downloaded this because I was looking for something to supplement, and not expecting much because most of the others were lack luster. I told myself “I’ll probably cancel the subscription after the trial” I was wrong! After using this for only 30 minutes it is well worth the money for someone trying to learn music solo. It is a similar format to Duolingo, and helps to be a visual and audible supplement to the material I am reading. It lets you work through tons of examples and really helps solidify the concepts of music theory. I can’t only speak from my experience, but I will be continuing to use this as I learn.

Thank you so much for this heart warming review!! 🙏🏻❤️🎶

Amazing app

I’ve been a church choir member for more than 50 years and this app is making me more proficient in skills I didn’t realize I was weak in. Just one example: write down a very simple melody without showing me where to start on the staff. I thought “are you kidding me?” but I did it :-)
One piece of feedback for improvement: it would be great to be able to correct an error after checking it, but so far it doesn’t appear that app allows that.

It said you could play free

The way it was written I though I could play free, but only one lesson a day. I’ve waited two days, and I can only start a new lesson by subscribing. Deleted

Very promising

This is a really exciting app, adopting the successful and now-ubiquitius of DuoLingo. Perfect gamification of music theory without any bold claims of replacing human teachers. There are a few bugs which can be a little frustrating, and the general performance could do with a little refining, but otherwise it functions well. I’m wondering whether perhaps there could be a free version funded by advertising, so less well-off students can still afford to use it, and then perhaps some more advanced features (such projects and unlimited practice in Mimo, or unlimited health and tailor-made quizzes in DuoLingo) could be reserved for paid subscribers.
I look forward to using this app with students in the future.

yet another app that requires a ‘free trial’ then payment

dont bother downloading this app, they are just trying to earn a cheap buck

An excellent way to learn

It really is just like Duolingo for sheet music!

Since returning to the piano I wanted to make of point in developing my sight reading, an area I’ve never had much confidence in. I’ve tried a few different books, videos and apps but find myself finally retaining it through use of this app.

A subscription is required but the teaching content is quality, it’s a shame so many people want something for nothing these days.

Would definitely recommend!
