Disappointing....

The trap itself is amazing. The chirp is totally nonfunctional when compared to the standard counter option available. My trap is only 10 meters away from my living area (with nothing in-between other than a ranch slider door) but the chirp has NEVER EVER counted a single kill without me walking right up to the trap. So the only benefit of this quite expensive addition is not having to bend over once I get there! Not cool. Please fix, I am not the only one with this exact same experience.

Response from developer

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Sorry it’s taken us months to acknowledge it. Thanks for sharing your experience with Chirp, it’s really helpful to hear what is and isn’t working for people out there in the real world so we can continue to make things better with future releases. We have recently developed a helpful resource about syncing in response to yours and others’ feedback. It summarises how to gather your Chirp’s data by opening the app, then removing the Chirp cap to wake it up. A red light means Chirp is awake, and a yellow light means Chirp is sending the data to your phone. You’ll receive an app notification of a kill, or will see the “Last Synced” field updated with the time checked. There is PDF version of this resource available here under Product Manuals: https://goodnature.co.nz/pages/support Glad to hear the trap itself is doing a solid job for you! If you have any further questions or feedback, drop us an email at hello@goodnature.co.nz Thanks - Ann

Battery life, sync, lost kills

Very similar issues, location services drains battery life chronically now set to while using app, sync is flaky. Had a kill in the app, was a real kill when trap checked, opened app to confirm and the kill event had disappeared.

Response from developer

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Unfortunately, as you experienced, we did have a brief issue with the Chirp App which has led to your kill disappearing. Our tech partner was able to fix this so you shouldn't have this issue again. We are always happy to help so drop us a line if you have any questions in future hello@goodnature.co.nz Cheers - Ann

Where's the old app gone?

I don't see a way to manually add traps without chirp including adding and tracking the A12 traps? The old app used to track all traps. This seems a bit of a useless one trick pony, and by all accounts it doesn't even do that very well. The traps are awesome, the app is not.

Response from developer

Hi, I’m sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. The old app has been discontinued although you can keep using it if you still have it. Once it’s deleted from your phone you will not be able to download it again as it is no longer available on the App Store or Google Play. You’re right, Chirp is designed specifically to use with the A24 traps and provides useful information about how much lure and gas is left in your trap, as well as data about when the trap was triggered. If you are looking for an app to record A12 trap success too then you might like to use trap.NZ Glad to hear the traps are working well for you. If you have any additional feedback or any questions please email us at hello@goodnature.co.nz Thanks! Ann

Sync and phone battery life issues

Similar sync issues to other reviews. Would be great to have a button to force a sync.

Also I have had terrible battery life on my phone since installing the app. Changed my location settings to only allow the gn app to access location info while the app is in use and battery life back to normal. But when you do that, the app nags you to change to ‘always allow’.

Response from developer

Hi there, sorry for the very delayed response! We appreciate you taking the time to review the app and I will feed back to the development team your thoughts about a sync button. It sounds like the notifications you receive are due to the iOS settings. iOS users need to have their location preferences for the Goodnature app marked as always. We have looked at the app reviews about sync issues and as a response we have developed a resource about syncing. It outlines how to gather your Chirp’s data by opening the app, then removing the Chirp cap to wake it up. A red light means Chirp is awake, and a yellow light means Chirp is sending the data to your phone. Either you’ll receive an app notification of a kill, or will see the “Last Synced” field updated with the time checked. The PDF version of this resource is here under Product Manuals: https://goodnature.co.nz/pages/support If you have any other thoughts or questions we’d love to hear from you at hello@goodnature.co.nz Thanks - Ann

Needs a lot more work

I have come to expect a lot more from good nature. They supply an amazing product that is unmatched. But this latest addition fails to deliver
It does not alert to my phone
It does not record a strike
And I cannot get it to sync with my phone after initial app installation.
And even if i could get it to work it doesn’t connect to your WiFi router so you need to be close during an activation to receive an alert

Great idea, but still some bugs

New app, but the sync from a chirp trap doesn’t work unless you are either, next to it when it actually has a real kill (not likely) or you trigger a test fire which seems to wake the Bluetooth up to connect and sync. Waste of CO2. When is this due to be fixed?

A24 is king

Hi Goodnature,

I own a small pest Control business to in California. I have used A24s for about 2 years now and I love them. I own approximately 22 traps and have achieved roughly 300+ kills so far.

I am a huge proponent of your product. I don’t know if the chirp is coming to the US but I hope it does.

❗️please allow the app to function as a kill locator/map with out chirp so it can be used in the US.

Keep up the good work!!!

P.S. will the A12 ever be sold on the states?
