Watch it live or don’t bother
Response from developer
Hi, We will make the replay available to SailGP App users as soon as it becomes available to us. We are looking at ways to make it easier for App users to know when this will happen. Check out https://sailgp.com/watch/ close to the event to find out how to view live and replay for San Francisco and all future events. Thanks, The SailGP App Team
Cool App
Response from developer
Hi, Thanks for your feedback. Glad you enjoyed being able to choose your camera angles. The SailGP App Team.
No commentary
Response from developer
Feedback is always appreciated. The commentary feed is not available in all countries due to broadcast restrictions. When this happens, you are able to view the boat cameras and boat data within the SailGP App. Information on how to watch and get commentary in your region is available at https://sailgp.com/watch/. It would be great if you could watch the Sydney event in the App when it becomes available, as you will be able to experience the races with full commentary. We hope you continue to follow SailGP. The SailGP App Team
Don’t bother. A nothing App
The app doesn’t even show individual race results let alone any action. No video footage of first day even by midday on day two.
About only thing App appears to offer is event merchandise.
Larry and Oracle should hang their heads in shame for releasing this “nothing “ piece of software. How do they expect to secure crowd support if they can’t communicate the action to fans?

Hello, thanks for posting your feedback. We hope the following will help explain the features of the SailGP App. The App allows you to view data from any of the F50 during racing. It currently shows a number of data points, from Boat Speed, Heading, and VMG, through to Ride Height, Pitch and Roll. You can choose between three layouts; Default, Advanced and Split Screen. Each offer different levels of data from the F50 boats. You can watch the races Live, or catch up on Replay once they become available. As much as we would love to make replay available straight after the live event, we have to follow the broadcast rules. There is more information about when the replay will be available in your region at https://sailgp.com/watch/. The Sydney SailGP Races will be made available on Replay as soon as we can, and you will be able to watch all the races along with the boat data. The App currently shows the overall Leaderboard, and you can go to https://sailgp.com/races/listing/ to see the results of the individual races. Thanks, The SailGP App Team
Great app, needs some polish.
Some minor quibbles follow.
The Rolex countdown timer has been wrong until version 1.0.4, and there’s not enough localized information about when the live-streams will begin. The website’s watch page had confusing/conflicting information for most of the week. For Sydney Day 1, finally in version 1.0.4 of the app, there was an accurate countdown timer, but no start time in my time zone (or at all). Ever since the coverage of Day 1 ended and the replay became available, there is no countdown to Day 2 or start time, just the current time in Sydney and in my time zone in the Rolex banner on the bottom. This has made it difficult to plan our local club’s viewing party (Severn Sailing Association in Annapolis, MD, USA).
On my iPhone XS Max, the video could not be zoomed to full the whole screen, and the home bar remained visible during the entire video (live and replay).
As there’s no Apple TV app - why!? - one would think the Airplay experience would have been good. Sadly not. Since the app doesn’t support Airplaying the video, I had to resort to Airplay screen mirroring. Airplay screen mirroring to an LG OLED paired with an Apple TV 4K required me to manually zoom horizontally and vertically. The home bar was still visible at the bottom unless I zoomed in to remove that part of the video from the screen. App support for Airplay should fix this.
I understand that smooth live-streaming to a large audience and drone live-streaming caps dictated a 720p live-stream. It would be nice for replays to be shown at up to 4K.
It would be nice for app users to be able to temporarily zoom and pan the umpire view ourselves; after a few seconds of no pan/zoom activity, it could go back to whatever pan/zoom the umpires have selected.
Thanks for a great experience so far!

Hi, Thanks for posting a detailed review. We are reviewing all the feedback from the Sydney Event and we will definitely look at all of your comments. Hope your local sailing club's viewing party went well, and you enjoyed the SailGP experience. Thanks, The SailGP App Team
Audio
Response from developer
Really sorry that you experienced this. We had people running tests during the races and we did not get any reports of audio issues. We are wondering if the noise you experience was the sounds of the F50 boats when they are foiling and travelling at speed. Registration for spectator boats should be done though the SailGP website at https://sailgp.com/tickets/ We hope you continue to follow SailGP. Thanks, The SailGP App Team
Comment on app. Sail go
Could not get repeats of earlier races it was all real time.
Activated no spoiler but commentary gave details if previous races.
Otherwise. Fantastic idea. Just maybe too much going on.
Response from developer
Thanks for your feedback. Race replays are delayed due to broadcast restrictions. There is more information about when the replay will be available in your region at https://sailgp.com/watch/ Spoiler mode is designed to stop you seeing the results in the App Leaderboard or App News section. Once you are watching the live event, the commentators will refer to the results other races. Hope you enjoyed the overall experience and continue to follow SailGP. Thanks, The SailGP App Team
