  • Faulty game dynamics

It’s cute, the visuals are indie and overall it’s a good variation on RTS. I love these types of games, but unfortunately there’s too many bugs with this one. At first it isn’t obvious but then you quickly start to see that things aren’t working as they should and the UI/UX is awful. A lot of tapping to opening tiny windows with difficult to ready text. Fabricating 10 armor but the guards never wear them. Fabricating a bow but you need bowmanship master skill, but there is not skill selection UI.
Most of the game ends up managing the guards who patrol the area and die easily from various attacks. And mitigating those loses by using other workers (like blacksmith or hunter), which becomes tedious.
I tried to play the game where I stayed indoors the whole time. I went 160 days before mega creatures appear and destroy my village. Even at 160 days, the best building was a trade shipyard. But there was no one trade with so it made no sense.
Also there’s no obvious way to brew wine or forge steel.
$4.99 is a bit high for this type of gameplay. I would have expected something more intuitive.

  • Worth buying but needs better explanations

This is a really cool game that starts off as a fun building and resource management sim. At higher levels, it gets confusing, though. For example, earlier in the game when you send your ships out, they’re all engaged in trading missions. Later, though, you suddenly find yourself in a dungeon without any way to retreat or better prepare your workers for those very different kinds of tasks.

You *can* plow through blindly and learn by trial and error. However, more in-game documentation—like an info button for each building, resource or task, would make this game much, much better. The writing would also need to be made clearer at that point since what written info is available needs some significant editing.

A very good effort overall with lots of replay value so definitely worth $5. To make it a truly great game, though, the devs need to give more clues to the player about how to actually play.

  • Enjoyable but Unbalanced

Very fun and you can tell a lot of care was put into making this 2nd version. The camera can be frustrating at times since it seems to move at inappropriate times, however that is nowhere near as frustrating as the some difficulty balance shortly after hitting day 100. A large enemy can wipe out 8 armored guards in a blink and then new workers do not show up quickly enough to replenish them resulting in a downward spiral that you cannot pull out of.

That said it is still a very fun game. I just don’t plan on making it too far past day 100 before having to start over.

  • Great for a Week - then you’ll never play again

I really liked this game at first. Put a good 10 hours into or so, figuring out how the game worked and how to balance my villagers. But after a few hours you begin to realise how similar every single play through is. The same events happen, at almost the exact same time, every time. There’s not a lot of variety, and once you discover the most efficient methods the game becomes very linear and boring.

With that said I loved the game up until that point. But the end game is so excruciatingly boring. Im usually the type of player to see how long my defenses could last etc - but in this game there’s really no point once you’ve built the temple.

Im also hesitant to rate it higher since the devs haven’t even updated for over a year. Devs, please update this game!

  • Great Game

Really love this game. 5* well deserved. I do have two suggestions, though.

    1) On the save feature, would be nice if it asks you if you’re sure before saving. Too many times I’ve accidentally saved when I didn’t want to because my finger (or hand) was too close to the screen. On an ipad, at least, you don’t need to touch the screen. If you’re hand is too close, it registers.

    2) Would be nice if you could “banish” people to remove those with unwanted traits.

  • Developers please read

Just got the game and grinded it out to day 60+ trying to build the rest of the archer towers and animal farms and more. I’ve had them placed to get built for a while. Builders only put the wood in and don’t finish it. Can’t seem to figure out why they won’t transfer iron or food into the buildings to finish it anymore. They just go to the loggers camp and say they are depositing resources all day. I am maxed out on iron and food so resources aren’t the problem. I can’t seem to find anyone else with this problem by reading other reviews or trying to look it up on google. Is there something I am missing? Please reach out or explain what I can do to try to fix the problem. Thank you

  • It feels like this game was poorly beta tested.

I can barely stand this game just due to the annoying character voices. The developers offer no volume control or options to tone down the voices. It’s all or nothing. Add a voices volume or toggle option and I can rate the game much higher. Also new people come to the bonfire and you can choose to accept them, but you can’t view their stats, so you have no idea if they are a good addition. Same for the roster, it doesn’t show the peoples icon for special talent; you have to open each persons info panel, tripling the time it takes to choose the right person for a job. It feels like this game was poorly beta tested.

  • Problem with minor mechanics

Love the game, best 5 bucks I've ever spent. Although there is a minor problem with some mechanics, alot of the movement with the villagers seems jumbled and sometimes even glitches out. The guards will run to the woods right after killing an intruder, leaving the others to either die or get majorly hurt. When i need to assign more guards at night to fight bigger mobs, some will glitch out near the house and never move. Lastly (that I’ve experienced) the ship cant be reloaded on food when docked back home.

Thats it! Other than that the game is fabulous, a true masterpiece of base building euphoria!!

  • Not bad, but lacks the charm of the original

At first I was disappointed that this version lacked the 2D, “construction paper” charm of the original. But after I got the hang of the mechanics I started to enjoy it. Until the late stage. Once you acquire 3 sun stones the clock starts ticking and you HAVE TO get ready for the Big Bad. I’ve reached the final battle twice and both times lost quickly. Not enough gear for my guards, no way to beef up my Titan. I’m going go back to the original.

UPDATE: I’ve gotten the hang of the game. Don’t use the sun stones until you’re fully geared up with plenty of reserves. HOWEVER this game needs a serious update. SO many bugs; carpenters will just stop making spears, no matter how many you put in the queue; workers will harvest skins, but they never add to the total; workers get “stuck” inside a pottery hut (can’t produce, can’t get out, can’t eat, they’ll die unless you destroy the building and rebuild elsewhere.) A fix would be great.

  • Resource management is right

Bit of a slow start and could use even basic explanations (how villagers heal, that the bridge unlocks more hits, etc) but a fun little game. Def worth five bucks if that’s what you’re looking for in reviews. Go for it! If you like this sort of game you’ll get your money’s worth.

Only thing is the bigger the settlement the bigger the impact on your device. I’m on day 80+ and the game has begun devouring my battery. It is chewing through my charge faster than even the beefiest, most layer heavy files I run in my art software! Suppose this brings resource management to real life since absolutely can’t risk a popping on in the middle of a work day.
