The best app I’ve used

This app is great. I’ve learnt a lot from it.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback and we’re glad the app has been useful! We hope you will also enjoy the application updates.

I can not enter my information to start

I’m unable to enter my sex and age. Every single time I try, it goes way way up the page where I no longer can reach it. Will someone help me with this?

Response from developer

Good

It’s cool it’s works… but I don’t know how to apply this to my life…I am healthy so I guess no improvement are need

Response from developer

Thank you for your interest in Ornament and for your feedback. The app helps you take care of your health by suggesting health checks. This option warns about some possible health problems. Ornament also includes many articles with information on health indicators and healthy living in general.

Cannot use!

If you are over 39 you might as well forget it! This app only allows participants up through that age. It seems to me this app would most useful to an older generation. But once again, the elderly people are not that important in a lot of ways. Just remember, one day you will be here. Maybe you all should try to change things for yourselves before you get here. Good luck.

We're sorry that you experienced trouble with Ornament - we support adults of all ages! Please contact support@ornament.health for help or to provide feedback about what seemed wrong.

Overpriced and fatally limited

This app makes nice graphs, which is more than can be said for the Apple Health app but that’s basically all it does. It can’t even import health records from Apple health which makes no sense: users end up in the situation of having to tediously add records to the app that are already easily available through an API on their devices. If this had a way to import from HK, it might be worth something; but as it is, it’s pretty useless.

Thank you for the feature recommendation. We're sorry that the app didn't meet your expectations and we'll consider adding the feature in a further update.

Not particularly helpful, expensive, and lacking in support

In order to upload more than two tests you have to buy a subscription that costs $99/year.

I regularly get blood tests done and wanted to see trends over time and if it spotted any root cause issues my doctor hadn’t mentioned.

I uploaded 10 tests and the only suggestion was possible anemia which is so obviously clear in my blood work.

I have lots of tests that are out of range or not optimal and an autoimmune disease (positive ANA). It doesn’t even mention my positive ANA or possible autoimmune issues.

I also had problems uploading tests. I reached out to their support and the only way to get in touch is my chat through the app. But response times are around an hour so I just had to sit there with the app open on my desk while I worked waiting for a reply.

The first time I tried I made the mistake of navigating away from the support chat and I couldn’t get back to the original conversation to see the reply.

It’s terribly inconvenient. :(

It’s pretty but not worth it. I’m cancelling my subscription.

Phenomenal app

This is one of the best designed apps I have ever used. It’s as if Apple designed it themselves, but even better than what they usually deliver :)

And I’m not just talking about the gorgeous look. The creators have REALLY thought about the user’s needs and implemented them.

For example, when entering lab values, the app tries to automatically guess the unit based on the test and value to save the user a few seconds.

This kind of thoughtfulness and attention to detail is everywhere. And it’s SO nice to discover.

And everything just works.

The scanning of results is just amazing. I scanned about 10 documents and double checked all the values: everything was correct.

Being able to see on a graph how lab values have changed over time even if the original tests were using different units is incredible.

The app automatically recognized my girlfriends anemia and gave helpful advice.

The check up feature that tells you which tests to get, makes it easy for the average person to keep track of their health.

Even though it’s not officially supported, I was even able to enter my cats lab history and adjust the reference range to one for cats.

And it just works. It’s a testament to how well thought out and flexible this app is.

At the time of review the app also has a lifetime purchase option and I hope it stays.

I want this app to be sustainable and to continue receiving support and improvements.

But I’m also strongly against subscriptions in apps. I like to keep an easy to analyse history of my medical data, but I’ll likely only use this app once or twice per year.

So it doesn’t make sense to pay an expensive monthly subscription.

But I also understand that there are ongoing cost for hosting, scanning, improving and so on.

So my suggestion would be to consider creating a lifetime purchase for the plus features and an additional, small fee for each automatic scan.

This way you could continue receiving revenue, while not scaring potential users with subscriptions.

We're so happy you enjoy the app! Thank you very much for your review

Overpriced

I deleted it because the last thing anyone needs is another $20/month subscription just to track blood test data. Give me a break!

Response from developer

We're sorry the subscription price was not right for you. Ornament shows the dynamics according to the test results, analyzes biomarkers, calculates the optimal reference values, allows you to get a clear picture of health and greatly facilitate the life of people who monitor their health. A paid subscription allows us to keep the free version of the application, as well as to develop and regularly add new functionality, while both the paid and free versions work without ads inside the application.

Nothing for trans users

When signing up, it gives the option to select trans/intersex as a gender. I didn’t have anything to upload immediately so I clicked to do the recommended checkup but then it said that there were only checkups for mail and female genders. Why even bother adding that gender option if you can’t use the app if you chose that

Customer service is stunningly great

So I put up a complaint in a review yesterday with a 3 star rating.

The team told me they would consider my ciriticism this morning. Then, a few hours later, they told me they made changes per my ciriticism and uploaded a new version for me to download! That’s the fastest complaint->new version turnaround I’ve ever experienced with an app company.

The latest version allows you to trial the upload feature more robustly. I’ll be trying it out shortly. But for now, their responsiveness deserved 5 stars easily.

Hope they keep doing great things.

Old Title: Can’t test app. Free version has one upload limit

I love the idea of this app. I love the screenshots of it. I wanted to test it and then buy true subscription, but that’s where it fell short.

No where does it tell you this, but I have learned the hard way through support chat that the free version only allows one document upload. That’s it. And if you delete that document because ornament tells you it can’t read or process it, that counts as your one document and you can’t upload any more documents. Which, uh, renders the app completely useless until you buy the paid version.

Btw, the reason I need to test the app before paying for a subscription is because I have lots of uncommon lab tests that I like to see if ornament can process or not. If ornament had a comprehensive list that tells exactly what tests are processed and what are not, I could also bypass this entire testing phase and just buy the subscription, but alas that list doesn’t exist either.

In other words, it’s very very hard if not impossible to test and trial this app properly. The free app is useless for this purpose. They should eliminate the free app and just offer a one week trial which I think would lead to a lot more conversions.

I have no problem paying for this if I can verify it works with the kind of data. Sadly I just can’t.

Here is the latest message I sent their support staff:

—————-

So I submitted one pdf and it could not be processed. So I deleted it. Apparently this counts as my one free version.

So is this it? I now have no more way to test this app and it’s abilities before I purchase a subscription?

How is the free version useful if you only allow one document? Why not allow 5 so that at least some comparisons can Be made with the test results?

I think your free version has virtually zero utility and usefulness in getting people excited enough to spend money and buy the subscription - which was my intention all along.

But I can’t test this app with a single piece of data.

Rather than a free version with minimal utility, I suggest you offer a 1 week trial period to allow someone to fully test the app. I see that the app has potentially lots of utility, but I have no way to even verify that.

This is strange because I really want to support your company and give you guys my money, but this inability to test it makes it very difficult.
