  • Awesome game with some control glitches

This is the game remains me the ones in the iOS 2.0 era, especially the Super Monkey Ball.

The graphics is great, together with the music, this game both looks and sounds cool. One of the only drawback is the SFX for the ball rolling. After a long session, that sounds a bit annoying to me. Maybe the creators can make it with more musical and rhythm?

The control of the ball is excellent, I can perform some very accurate input. But the jump button and the camera rotation brings some negative user experience. Firstly, the jump button is just simply too small. In chapter 2, lots of level requires muscle memory, but the small jump button caused me a lot of miss performs. Since it is a very mission critical button, please make the respond area bigger. Secondly for the camera rotation, I have to say it feels like a compromise between the complex level design and the core gameplay. It makes me feeling so overwhelmed in those fast levels.

All things considered, this is still a very good arcade game, especially to the level design. They are very thoughtful.

Hi MurcielagoZhou, thank you for your feedback and review! Our recent patch improves the sensitivity controls and makes the 'Edit Touch Controls' feature much more clearly available. With this feature, you can change the location and sizes of the buttons! Please feel free to send us a message at pr@marbleitup.com with any questions/concerns :) - Fletch

  • Wonky controls

It’s cute, but I gave up after the third level. Too frustrating to try to coordinate between whipping the camera around and hitting the jump button. Half the time I miss it and fall off a ledge. Given how few degrees of freedom are needed, it shouldn’t be possible to end up with the camera inside the marble, which happens all the time and is extremely disorienting. Why not constrain it to a sensible pan instead of letting you rotate it to where you can’t see anything?

  • love the game. but camera control doesnt work all the time

This game impresses me and is great in many respects. Beautifully abstract graphics. Super fun and challenging enough to be engaging while easy enough to progress through without feeling stuck.

Speaking of stuck, the camera control on ipad doesnt work all the time and will stop working during gameplay, which doesnt allow me to see where im rolling. This glitch in the ipad controls makes the game unplayable when it is occurring. I dont find the other onsceen controls as hard to get used to as some users. The direction and jump seems fine for it being an onscreen control. But the camera sticking is sort of a let down because everything else is great. Hoping for a fix because its a surprisingly fun game.

  • Terrible controls in a beautiful setting

The game looks great and is fun to casually play, but the touch controls are horrendous. For a casual run through, it’s manageable, but good trying to get diamond medal on a level when 1/3 of the time, your right thumb controls the camera, 1/3 of the time your left thumb controls the camera and the last third of the time, nothing controls the camera.

Oh and while you’re fighting the camera to get that diamond medal, you don’t even know what time you need to get anyway. The game does not tell you what time you need to beat, so you have no idea if you just need to cut one corner a little tighter to shave off a few milliseconds or if there’s actually a secret path to get to the finish 40 seconds faster (which I found out is a thing on at least one level so far).

It’s one of those things that you try to put up with for awhile because everything else about the game is enjoyable, but eventually you just give up on the game. Which is where I’m at now.

Hello JBeanz09! We've added several updates to the game since your review! These include new marbles/hats/trails, multiplayer modes, and other game-wide improvements (especially control improvements)! If you give the game another roll, we'd love to hear your thoughts :) - Fletch
  • Not without a controller.

With touch controls this game on a iPad is a pain you have to Manually turn the camera while fighting with the horrible touch controls that move the marble but lots of time that fails & then stops moving the marble, so far Apple Arcade has been nothing but a dud for me.

The only two decent games WERE NIT BUILT FOR APPLE ARCADE.
Most every built for Apple Arcade games have been short boring & what I need to play multiplayer to unlock all marbles? I saw the other comment & that was the final nail I am deleting this game if all marbles can’t be unlocked in single player why even bother.
I’m enjoying catquest 2 that was not built for Apple Arcade that’s why it’s got more quailty more things to do unlike most these games.

  • Fun game! The camera controls need some love

Takes my back to my days of playing marble madness in the arcade as a kid, great soundtrack! The camera controls while playing with touch on iPad Pro Max 11 get stuck or un responsive I haven’t experienced while playing with a controller and the Apple TV overall wonderful game thank you devs
  • No idea what initial launch dialog buttons do

I heard about this game on a podcast and was excited to give it a try. I am astounded that Apple allowed this to be released as part of Apple Arcade with the horrible initial launch dialog that it has.

Upon first launch, before you can play the game, your are presented with a dialog box that has information that we have no way of knowing whAt it means without prior game experience. It talks about “replays, ranking, progression, and stats”. It goes on to say that it needs to collect data from us to provide these things and that if we don’t want our data collected we can still play but without certain features.

All of that would be annoying but fine. The problem is that I am presented with two options:

    Ok
    Offline

There is nothing in the paragraph that would indicate what either of these buttons does. I am protective of my data, and I thought Apple was too. So I am confused as to how this app made it not only through normal AppStore approval but is included as part of the small cadre of games that make up Apple Arcade.

I will not play this game if I have to click one of these undefined buttons in order to do so.

Hi frank, sorry to hear about the confusion! The data collection prompts are consistent with (and even use language provided by) Apple's policies. To opt out those online services you accurately identified in your review, users can select the 'offline' option. Users have the option to opt back in if they choose to offline those features at launch, but we've made the assumption that users who agree with the text will be likely to hit 'Ok'. We appreciate the feedback - and if you choose to give the game a shot, we'd love to hear what you think of it. - Fletch
  • Horrendous Touch Controls.

The touch camera-controls are absolutely horrendous. 50% of the time, the staging on the right side of the screen does nothing to move the camera - the other 50% of the time, the left thumb stick that controls the ball ACTUALLY controls the camera... why on earth would you allow a drag on the left side of the screen to control the camera?? These are touch-control issues that plagued us in 2009... a decade later and this is what we get for subscribing to a “premium” service. Shame on you devs.

  • Great except the buggy controls

This is a great game but the touch controls are too buggy. The last few levels are virtually unplayable because the camera/movement controls gets crossed without warning, making any effort feel frustrating and futile. I’ll gladly give this game five stars when the issues are fixed.
