Awful

I loved the old app but this one is awful. The old app was so much easier to use, you could do things on it and it worked where’s this one it doesn’t and I could see much more info on it if there was a problem but this newer one is a load of rubbish. Why did they change it? Why do we have the weather on it now when most of us have that info on our phones. If something works & is good don’t change it to something that doesn’t work and isn’t customer friendly. We all pay a lot of money for these alarms so listen to us when we say it’s rubbish and go back to the old app that works and we can all use it properly.

Such an improvement...

This new App takes a few minutes to learn and understand the change in terminology (Arm Stay / Arm Away) but the advantages over the old system are huge.
Still have the straightforward options to Arm and Disarm remotely but new features, for example auto arming schedules and geofencing, make it even easier to automate things I previously had to remember to set. It’s very easy to see the status of your Home Alarm system in the app.
The cameras fitted provide a fantastic picture and analytics mean very few false recordings. It’s very easy to view both live feed and saved clips in the app.

Not sure about all the bad reviews

Thought I would review the new app particularly following all the bad review. I’m not sure if I’m in a small minority or just one of the few with a positive experience who wants to leave a review. Nonetheless the app is great! Prefer it so much to the old one. At first it had a few bugs but all ironed out. A lot more modern and nicer to look at. Plus really enjoying the fact that I have more control over my own alarm system. Considering the price I pay I was impressed and happy to find that I could control my own system a lot more on this app than the old one. I’ve had no problems with connectivity or notifications and it does what it says on the tin plus a hell of a lot more! Very happy with the app!

App Satisfactory ... but look to web for more

I would say the App is satisfactory but not brilliant. If you log on to the account web page there is SO much more you can do to configure the system (I only found out accidentally). You can set schedules and timers to automatically alarm and disarm the system by time or period of inactivity. Also configure Siri voice commands, for example. I used to do a simplified version of this to ensure property alarmed overnight and whilst at work. Upgrading lost all of this functionality and is now back with more features. However NOT via app and no sense you can do this things via app. A missed opportunity to point to full feature set.

Very Poor

Limited capability. Logs you out randomly but then let’s you simply back up to bypass log in. Has facial recognition set but refuses to use it. Does not let you interact with service team to take ownership of any issues can’t change naming of sensors so even if the engineer had a) named them by room and/or b) you could work out which was which you can stop them jus being a list of numbers. People at ADT try their best but honestly the only thing worse than this app is the alarm system (which they now cannot come out to due to lockdown) which has never been in a stable serviceable in error’d status for more than 8 weeks in the 5 years we have had it. And that is despite it being very dated technology so you think it would be reliable at least. ADT = woeful

What an improvement

This new app is a marked improvement from the previous one. The performance is great and the capabilities are much increased.

I saw all the negative reviews here and worried this would find a way to be EVEN worse than the previous one. I have since come to the conclusion that the main criticisms are user error. The “nag” features can all be turned off, and the optional extras are exactly that.

Embarrassing.

Disgusting service from ADT as always and the new app matches the overall competence of this company perfectly. They can’t seem to do anything right and have no respect for their customers. Old app worked perfectly fine in the end but now we’re stuck with this shambles of an app. I have had issues with my security panel not connecting ‘due to the internet connection’ which is one of the fastest and most reliable in the UK and i was told i would be charged £550 to cancel my ADT contract. Reading everyones reviews here has restored my confidence in the fact that ADT are liars and professional scam artists despite what they would have everyone believe. AVOID!

If I could give less than one star I would.

This is just woefully poor. The old app just worked. It didn’t need to be anything cleverer than a remote blipper to arm the system, and it did that simple job supremely well. Then ADT brought in this new all singing all dancing app to solve all my worries and provide me with complete control over my system, and even provide the weather. Unfortunately this app has got more bugs than the insect house at London zoo. It’s brilliant at sending passive aggressive messages that the alarm isn’t set (when I’m at home) and when trying to use it to actually set the alarm it doesn’t want to know. It constantly shows issues with the alarm when there aren’t any, and for what it’s worth I already had a much better weather app on my phone. ADT need to junk this piece of rubbish and go back to the old system.

Terrible - far too complicated!

This is such a basic app that has really not been thought through!
For example - there is no option to receive push notification sounds when there an alarm is triggered. Plus, the app is basic considering the monthly fees ADT charges! Really disappointing!

Alternatives to ADT Smart Services
