  • Beautiful game but app keeps crashing

This game is just wonderful - both my son and I love it. Sadly it is now crashing on both of our iPads 😭. As soon as I open it, it just crashes. Any ideas? Would love to keep playing.
  • Addictive gameplay and Moving Story

Downloaded on a whim and the gameplay was simple enough to really get into. Love trying to maintain speed and collecting all the animals after the story is done is a nice add on to an already fun package. However, the story is massively impressive and surprisingly moving for a game that features no voice actors or subtitles. It’s all done in the art and it was well done enough to actually make me look into The Gibbon Project. Very awesome, great job! 👏

  • Boring, unfortunately.

Just like Old Man’s Journey, I found this to be very boring. I played for 10 minutes or so and have no clue what The “story” is, just that some gibbons are swinging through the forest. It’s apparently supposed to be for a good cause, but honestly, I have no clue what that cause is. Others talk about the story but there was no story to be found. No difficulty, because if you fall you just run on the ground. I guess I’m not one to like just watching a character on screen just walk around because I felt the same way for Old Man’s Journey.

  • Amazing

Writing this review due to the 1 star rating it received from another player.

I feel that this game was designed to bring awareness to what the game was trying to tell us and was not designed to be challenging.

This was great to play as a relaxation or when your sitting around on your phone.

The story also is great as it tells us about gibbons which are killed and captured for social recognition.

Honestly, the hard work and effort the creators put into this definitely deserves much more.

  • THIS GAME GOT ME DEAD ( in a good way )

When I saw this game on the advertising board , I was like "ooOo what’s this?" And I got the game. When I started to play, I instantly fell in love. Overall, I think this game needs an Award for being so good. I’m on lilac’s Adventure now, And I think it’s super fun! This game is cool, fun, emotional, and heartwarming! Everything it needs is in this game is here! It’s also SO BEAUTIFUL!!! The colors are well blended, the sky changes well! First, it’s gloomy, then it slowly turns sunny with very nice music! And much more, but I’m too lazy to write anymore- BUT I REALLY recommend this game. So, five stars!

  • Literally Gorgeous

This game has amazing meaning and has a wonderfully intuitive feel, it lets me be a Gibbon while I play it. The artwork is captivating and the mechanics are very easy to get good at quickly. A lot of activist groups will be overbearing and sappy, the developers of this game definitely did not shove their message in my face, but they subtly showed me how hard the life a Gibbon is because of a changing world.

One suggestion I would make to the developers is that occasionally the Gibbon will be completely out of view when either walking in certain areas or when swinging in certain areas. This isn’t a huge deal but a slight camera angle change would be nice in those situations.

Love the game and I can’t wait to see what future changes the developers will make. Happy swinging!

  • Beautiful graphics, Heartfelt message, and still lacking?

I really like the idea of this game, and the programming that has gone into the swinging is genuinely cool. The story mode is 45 min and covers important topics respectively and responsibly. However, the game lacks flow and danger. When playing other endless runners like Lost City, I can really get into the flow of surfboarding. I don’t know why, but there just isn’t any sense of flow in this game. Secondly, there’s no danger. Give me more guys that chase me, or some type of predator that chases me down. That’ll really add to the feel of the game. Oh and last thing, for those saying that it downloaded on your phone without your permission are you triple sure you didn’t pre-download it before the launch?

  • Real, very real

I’ve never written a review but this game deserves one. It takes you on a beautiful eye opening adventure while giving an insight on what’s happening in the real world to these amazing and frighteningly-almost extinct creatures. Great design and great story to follow. Most definitely worth a play!
  • Beautiful but lacking

Beautiful art direction and music, but the story and reasons to keep playing are a bit lacking. Plus, the control onboarding is confusing - sure there’s not a lot to do, but I feel like you get penalised for “letting go” of the controls too early for no real reason? Once you’ve onboarded, you can let go whenever you want? It’s also not clear if you’re allowed to just walk or do you have to swing? Will the character die? Can I just do nothing and the character keeps advancing? Can I go near the humans or will they hurt me? Is the character escaping something? Are they just swinging for fun? How long is a level? If I quit, is my progress saved? What constitutes a level anyway? Just some arbitrary point on the map? Or a certain distance or change of scenery? So much about this game is left to guess work, and a lot of work needs to be done to onboard players better.

  • Very Good

Game play is decent, controls are easy to learn, but the atmosphere and “story” is amazing.
