Great app suite

Thank you for these apps!! I got a free trial of them as a grad student during quarantine and am totally hooked. I did ballet when I was younger and have lately struggled to keep up a regular workout routine, especially as a college and grad student—I used to go to the gym or go for runs but after a few weeks my workouts would just be the last priority and I’d stop. These apps have totally transformed my lifestyle, I love that I can do a quick 7-min workout on that app if I am feeling low energy, or do yoga or barre for however long I want but still get a well-balanced session. I also hate pre-recorded sessions and especially the sentimental philosophizing that usually accompanies them, but these apps just get straight to the workout in a gentle yet encouraging way. I am hooked, these are so much better for me than trying to go to a gym or go running on the street, not just during quarantine!

Not Too Shabby!

I love the Down Dog app for yoga, and only during the quarantine learned I was paying for all the associated apps, including barre. I used to do barre a LOT at a local, extremely popular studio. This app essentially works with the same method, and I generally find it effective. Some drawbacks:

1) If you haven’t taken barre before, I could see people being very confused by the form or practicing with incorrect form. Because there is no live instructor watching you, there will be no way to correct this really.
2) There is very little arm work. It would be good to incorporate more arms!
3) The music selection is limited. If you skip through any songs you don’t like and practice for more than an hour, it will repeat the hip hop music.

Other than that, during the quarantine I find this to be an effective workout! Worth a try and definitely burns out the leg muscles!

Pure experience

I decided to try this APP based on a gentleman’s review and how he compared it to other exclusive Barre studios. He was spot on. If you’re a Barre enthusiast, this APP will give you the experience you came for. I gladly paid a steep price for the studio experience, but the same offered is being offered in this APP. This app also offers the gentleness of yoga vibe. Classic. Try it, you will love it! Btw I’m not a fan of home workouts at ALL , so this rating from me is significant. 😊❤️

Amazing for strength

As a bodybuilder this is never something that would appeal to me but it’s a great workout and would recommend it anyone it’s great on legs and core and hots muscles you don’t normally get to hit in other forms of exercise

Not as good as other down dog apps

A good work out but relies on you already knowing ballet terminology, explanations sometimes came half way through and exercise

AmaZing (but some arm exercises would be great!)

I fell in love with this range of apps (excluding prenatal ) by the ONE complaint is the lack of barre exercises for arms / the ability to focus on arms. Please include this and it would make it even better!!

Real beginner level required

Hi, I love the Down Dog yoga app and thought I’d try the Barre app. I expected the same format with true beginners levels to begin with. I found the first session too difficult in some ways and this is despite considering myself averagely fit and flexible. I’d hoped that there would be a build up to this first session to get me acclimatised but plank exercises to start with??? I found this not only challenging but was also a bit demoralising. Not to be outdone I’ll continue with the free trial and give it a good go. So, Down Dog, any chance of starting with easier, real beginner sessions and building up to more challenging exercises please? I’m still a fan by the way!

Really love this app

Honestly this app has changed my life, it’s so easy to customize the work outs to what you have time for in the day. Basic explanation and easy moving. Really great.

Needs arms included and some time between transitions.

This barre practice does not include any arm exercises. Thought that maybe Down a Dog had a separate arm app but nope. For arms you are on your own. Also, I have to pause sometimes between transitions because doesn’t include any or i will rewind to get what I’ve missed. which is annoying as I don’t want to have to stop my workout to pause and play. I’d like to keep going seamlessly. I suggest a option to allow the user to choose how many seconds between exercises to move where they need to be. At home isn’t an empty gym studio.

Love it!

I’ve been using another barre app after attending their studio classes for a long time but I think I’m going to switch to down dog. It’s cheaper and, other than not much arm work, just as good of a workout. I did an 18 min workout and I felt it! I like that they use real music, not just beats, and that it’s super customizable. I liked the poses they chose and they were doable with a dresser as a barre. I also did their restorative yoga in the yoga app and loved it, too.
