  • Gets worse and worse

The ability of the app to recognize accurately chords and strums just gets worse. And now if you miss one chord/strum it marks the next 2 one 3 wrong in the feedback bar. Or the bar will be all green with 2 tiniest bits of red and its 91% accuracy (then 9% of the bar should be red not .5%). Rhythm sections are strung together with each section advancing in difficulty…so when you mess up in the 3rd you can’t just go to that section to practice you have to do the parts you didn’t have a problem with and sometimes your fingers get tired before you can focus on what you are actually having problems with. Also you have the ability to slow tempo on sections but when you do it fails to recognize any strums played (thus pointless). The content is lacking any sort of actual help on how to play the guitar well focusing on chord shapes and some strumming… nothing on pick angles how to move your arm or wrist for better sounds. I’ve been using the app for 11 months, 6 days a week and I’ll put it this way. If I didn’t have the urban guitar that the app is designed for I would not use it and I’m so frustrated that I will most likely not use it for the remaining songs. The app only adds frustration to the process of learning the guitar and I would rather pay money for different apps or sites.

Dear Zomboy, Thank you for your detailed and honest feedback. Regarding the chord recognition. I am sorry to hear that you are having problems. I wonder how this can get worse over time, however. That definitely shouldn't happen. In general we have very good results. Only the G chord sometimes causes some problems if it is not played super accurately. We are working on a new version of the technology, which we will release in early 23 and which will fix the last problems. Sorry again for the inconvenience and it would be great if you would give it another try in a few months. I am sure that it will meet your expectations then. If you want to contact us personally, you can always do that at support@uberchord.com. Best regards, Simon (Uberchord co-founder).
  • Great Lessons Potential to be greater as an app

So let me start by saying the lessons really are awesome, great content and easily understood. The features in the app are great as well… in theory. The idea of getting instant feedback, as you play! That is amazing. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though it works too well. It does not consistently register chords or notes played, or even when you just trying to keep the rhythm, it will fail to register strums of the guitar (without even playing a chord). At times it registers strums, notes and strings pressed when there is silence in the room, and I’m not playing! It’s bizarre. Now I haven’t ruled out that perhaps my phone is the cause, but the phone is not old, and I have no trouble with people hearing me when I make calls. These issues detract from the lessons and my understanding of when I am hitting the keys/ chords/ rhythm etc. if there is a solution to my issue, I would love to hear it. Otherwise, it is difficult to get he full experience do this app.

Dear Keggy, thanks for your feedback and sorry for your less-than-perfect user experience. The app should normally function very well. I would like to learn more about your problems to be able to help you. Are you using the Yamaha URBAN Guitar or a different model? Feel free to contact us at support@uberchord.com so that we can get in direct contact. Best regards, Simon.
  • Disappointed

I bought the keith Urban guitar several years ago before the app was a thing. I got the CD lessons I wanted to do the app as it would be a lot easier for me to be able to just randomly do it whenever but apparently I can’t because you have to have a serial number found on the newer sold guitars.

Hey, we do understand your frustration, we don't like that fact either. Unfortunately, the first Keith Urban guitar was a completely independent venture, so we weren't able to tie those two together, we tried. You might want to try our other app 'Uberchord', though! It's a subscription-based app, available to everyone.
