  • This app is great but…

It hasn’t been updated in years and their other app hasn’t been updated for a year either, if the dev sees this I hope they update the apps so they don’t loose compatibility with newer iOS versions and also make them so you can install them on macOS too and I hope if the app can not already do it add an option make it so the app can output video with transparent background if you want it to and if the input video has a transparent background already.

  • Love it but

This thing is great and I use it constantly for my work. I do a lot of Passthrough‘s for what I do and just discovered that the app is storing all of my takes in a way that I can’t access deleting them through the app itself, I have to use settings. They don’t seem to be anywhere on the app and are taking up almost 2gb.

Hi there Elstonngunn So glad you like the app! Glad you are finding it useful for your work! DMX needs to copy imported video to its own folder to perform data moshing and the app should delete any copied/encoded video sources, saved movies, audio sources by using the trash can icon on the ADD VIDEO, ADD AUDIO and SAVED MOVIES screens (With SAVED MOVIES select the movie first and use the trash can to delete) ***However if you are still seeing space being used you can access all of the working files using the Files app. It's somewhat an advanced use case but if you open Files > On my IPhone > DAC all of the working files are available to delete individually. Naturally if you delete them this way you will have to re-import, re-encode but it may be useful for your production. Also you can always email our help desk if you have any issues :) ohhihello@destroyallcircuits.com
  • Doesn’t work on iPad Pro

It freezes on the processing screen every time. The cancel button does nothing. The developer didn’t bother replying to my support issue. Not very impressed.

They say in the store info here that a “version 2” is coming out soon, maybe wait for some reviews before throwing your money away?

We did not get a helpdesk request from you. We all run the app on our iPad pros with no issues and have a massive beta testing team. We will look out for your email. Our helpdesk email is ohhihello@destroyallcircuits.com. We respond to emails within 24 hours most of the time sooner. We take our support seriously. On another note thanks for supporting us!
  • Won’t work

Why is this glitch app so glitchy. I couldn’t get it to work. Shutdown after trying to import. I’m reinstalling to see if it will work.....

Moving my rating to three stars as reinstalling worked. Still just ok. I think a tutorial would help but some things I’d like to see are the capabilities to edit your photos in app to create the video instead of having to import a video into the app.

Hey there Bananasg great ideas! Thanks for your suggestions :) Anymore just shoot us an email. We really listen to everyone’s ideas. That’s what makes this app better with each update. ohhihello@destroyallcircuits.com
  • Easily the best on IOS

From ease of use the great results, DAC has given us a datamosh app that slays the current crop. Unlike most glitch apps that do pretty much the same thing, just a little different, DAC is unique in its capabilities and execution.

Put it in your arsenal and be amazed :)

The info you provided is not productive and ambiguous. There is a support link in the App Store to get ahold of us. The only way a developer can make the program the best it can be is through communication. This is the first time we are hearing of this glitch. If you want a refund we can provide you a link if you think our program is not to your liking. If you feel you have info to help us make this app better please do email. The email for support has been provided in the app and in the App Store. DAC
  • This app is amazing

The UI is so cool and it can make some amazing Data Moshed visuals synced up with sound. A must have for any musicians/beatmakers/producers looking to add glitchy retro visuals to their music
  • cool idea but no native audio option?

love the direction of this app,
but why not allow the original audio from the video to stick around?
am i right that the only audio a video can have is if you add a song from itunes, otherwise it’ll just be silent?

what if i wanted to use a vid of me talking? no chance.

anyway- seems like an extremely limited move that keeps me from enjoying the app.

Hello there totally is! You need to select the audio again through files to let DMX know what audio it would use The next update will allow you to select the video from the camera roll to extract the audio. I know that was confusing. We are learning :) in the future definitely email us with any suggestions or questions. Thank you!
  • Needs some UX work.

I know “real data moshing” can’t be real time. But why not at least render a small sample of what the what the output could/would be.

It’s a huge usability issue not being able to actually see what the sliders do.

    >The knob on the “select datamosh” screen seems very wonky and should be revisited.

    > once i rendered a video and it was put into the “saved videos” screen, I found they were hard to tell apart from others i previously rendered. you might want to have some type of automatic naming convention

    > if you’re responding to reviews with “email us and we’ll walk you through the app!” you obviously have a usability issue that needs to be addressed. your app should walk a user through the process.

    > Your ad/intro screen seems a little misleading from what the app actually does. maybe create an ad/ intro with your app instead of using after effects or whatever you used ?

    > also was bummed the tutorial section is legit a “coming soon!” lol

Hopeful for updates, it seems you have the skeleton of it down, just need to start focusing on the UX side of it. I hope the devs see this as constructive.

We used our app in the advertisement. If you play around with the app and get to know it you’ll find some settings that will match the ad. All videos and audio files behave differently. Did we use after effects to edit the videos hell yea! Love that program. A lot of what you are saying is covered in the FAQ. With the next update we are putting the FAQ in the description. Maybe the way we have the FAQ button is ambiguous we will take a look We can’t have a preview. Please read why in the FAQ. We wrote a reason and the point of the app is no preview. You have a lot of great suggestions. The reason why we are asking to be emailed of people are confused is not because we think the app is confusing but because most people do not understand what DataMosh is or how it works. The app is very linear and walks a person through. People are also confused on the controls. They are random accept for the threshold. Also covered in the FAQ. People have emailed us with a lot of suggestions and constructive criticisms and that have helped us address them in the updates. We are fixing the jog wheel. This has been a major complaint. We created this app because it takes hours to DataMosh and because there are not very many chaotic apps. *** If you want something that is more predictable we can give you a refund. This app will never be that. Thanks for the comments! There are lots of great resources on the net explaining what DataMosh is and the history. We are writing a comprehensive blog Please kindly use our email for suggestions or questions to make the app the best it can be!
  • Difficult to use.

I thought this would work like glitch studios where you can change the filter and see in real time what the different settings do.

With this app you have to make the setting changes blindly, go through the whole process - which can take a while - and only then you see the result.

You have to toggle back and forth between screens to make changes

There’s no way to get a feel for what the changes you are making do and it’s frustrating.

The graphics and frames and in app experience are cool but I would rather have an easy to use app than one that looks cool but is hard to use.

I don’t even know if there is more than one style of data mosh because the controls are not labeled well and while it’s cool that you’ve made the interface look like an analog board, i don’t want to use it because I can’t see changes in real time.

    It’s not what I expected.

the Glitch app is better in this regard.

There are also more effects, like psychedelic - super cool.

If you could combine the ease of use and the number of different effects from glitch app with responding to music, this app would be 5 stars.

I could change my rating later if the app got easier to use. But as of now I’m just really disappointed in that regard.

It’s also frustrating because it’s bro clear how to go through the process

You have to press cancel to go to the next screen so you think you’re canceling what you’ve done...

It’s just not designed for intuitive use and needs a tutorial, at the very least.

Hello first and foremost thank you for the thought that went Into this review by far the best yet. This is a pure DataMoshing app not a filter app. We are literally breaking the film and reassembling it. DataMoshing videos can not be real time ever if you are loading video. The apps you are referring to are emulating this and making it predictable with filters, shaders and presets. DataMoshing used to take hours to do by hand so we decided to make it easier, seconds rather than hours. We realize we need to manage expectations because most people do not know what DataMoshing is. The next release Wr are going to write a better description explaining to people what this app is and isn’t. This app is pure experimental exploration. It is and will never be a predictable preset machine. There are amazing apps out there where you can get predictable results. The reason why people love DataMoshing it is pure chaos. It’s like opening a present each time you process. Each film and audio will have its own way of processing. We will make tutorials and we have some exciting updates shortly :) We are also working on a blog explaining how DataMoshing and other real glitches work. Your suggestions about the app flow are also being implemented. I hope this better manages your expectations what this app is and is not. What I suggest is you make little tweaks to the sliders do a fast render. Look at the results and keep on doing that until you have something you like. Remember we have to break the film first. This is not a filter we are exploiting glitches in video compression. Any other questions or suggestions please email us. We are all ears 👂 Ohhihello@destroyallcircuits.com
