Love this app!

I have been using Everlog for about a year now. I love the Markdown support, and when they added support for Apple’s Journaling Suggestions, I could not give them my money fast enough. It is a beautifully designed app, and it stays out of my way when I just need to write. I have a Shortcuts automation that runs every afternoon, so I can simply open Everlog in the evening and reflect on my day.

The Best Diary For Apple Fans

As a longtime user of Day One, I had gotten used to how Day One worked over the years, and it was fine, but I longed for an app that didn’t store my data on some random server somewhere … I wanted to keep my data in iCloud (like I do with Bear Notes, etc). Also, I wanted an app to be “native” to Apple, and more simple, more streamlined, more MARKDOWN. Everlog is that app; I’ve migrated over 10 years of journaling into Everlog and I’m not looking back. Developer is great and responsive as well!

Move over Day One - Everlog is SO GOOD

I’m a former Day One user, and I have been using Everlog for many months. I imported all of Day One entries with ease.

Everlog is a joy to use. My favorite feature is the ability to add a comment to an existing journal entry. That sounds like a boring feature, but it is SO USEFUL when it comes to adding comments to the many entries that show up in the “On This Day” view. I can see what I was thinking in years past, then add updates via comment as to how I feel about that entry now.

Everlog on the iPhone can access Apple’s “Journaling Suggestions”, and the way the app displays locations from those suggestions is better than how Day One does it.

Finally, kudos to the developer for being responsive to feature requests and bug submissions.

Pleasure to use

Really impressed with Everlog which already does everything you want in a journaling app. Intuitive entry, links to Apple Journal Suggestions and has the important “On this Day” feature to look back on. It was also very easy to import data from another app which I had been using for some years. New features seem to be coming thick and fast so I can recommend for anyone new to keeping a digital diary and also those wishing for change and improvement.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! ❤️

One of the best independent journaling applications I’ve seen.

This is literally hands-down one of the coolest applications out there for journaling. And I love how the developer absolutely cares about every little feature that goes into this. Unlike some of the larger ones that are out there. I’m not going to name names, but I’m sure people who have flocked to this app no exactly which one I’m talking about. i’m sure at some point I’ll end up switching fully, but who knows. I guess we’ll see.

Thank you so much!

Great app

I like that this:

* Has a good search
* Reasonable lifetime price
* Integrates with Apple Journal to add photos etc
* Syncs well between iphone and mac
* Easy to make new entries and auto adds location and weather
* Good notifications. Like that you can change app colour on iOS so the notifications are prettier.

Would love to change the icon on mac too. Overall great app

One Notable Flaw, Otherwise Fantastic

I’ve explored the ins and outs of this app and it’s everything I want it to be (the lifetime premium gives me confidence in its longevity, that and the excellent UI gives it an upper hand) with one exception. After about 400 words in an entry on IOS, any further words I type are invisible. They show on the keypad for spellcheck but it appears to coincide with the scroll limit and black border whilst editing a specific entry. I would very much prefer to have a single entry for each day, so this limit is a considerable problem for me. Fix it to at the very least not allow typing past that point and I’ll be more content with it. If it could allow and display longer entries (preferably up to 2,000+ words), then I’d be very happy for that. (It’d be 5 star material imo)

Great journaling app with markdown and suggestion integration

I’ve used a few journaling apps and this is my new favorite. I’ve tried 5 minute journal and obsidian. Things I like.
- Markdown support. What you see is what you get.
- Templates, bookmarking, nested entries.
- Local saving. Everything stored locally or an sync using iCloud.
- Reflection - Shows an entry from this day a year ago.
- Metrics - Consistency in journaling.
- Simple interface.
- Support for multiple journals. I haven’t played with this yet.

Things I wish it had.
- More reflection options based on a fine-grained detail. For example, I created a morning reflection template with specific fields. It would be nice to see this section reflection. Another example, same template, I list a song that was inspirational for that day or things I’m grateful for today. Nice to have but not necessary.

Great journaling or other notetaking app.

No option to print

This is much the same as day one, without the option to send to an airprinter or a variety of apps. Day One is limited in this way, but at least you can print an entry. It is intuitive to a degree, so is relatively easy to navigate. Overall, I would say this is adequate but limited.

The Best

Absolutely clean and simple journal. The best I could find. Others are either too flashy or have too much clutter. This is perfect
