  • Great

Well worth the money, the fact that you can trail it before purchasing is great.
Logical puzzles and great thought out story, I have purchased all the games from this franchise, get it now
  • Absurd

Good luck solving the puzzles. you won’t. so you look at the clue. you still won’t. So then you look at a utube video (annoying) for the solution and although you now see what the answer is, you are still none the wiser as to why. Awful game which is just irritating and not fun. boring. if you’re going to design puzzle games, at least make the puzzles solvable.

  • Solid point and click adventure

Just like the other Syntaxity games, this one provides a few hours of hunting, searching, and puzzle solving. Nothing annoyingly tricky here puzzle-wise, but enough to scratch that puzzle solving itch. I like that the Syntaxity games make an effort to have the game tell a story, even if they are a tad silly. I also really appreciate that the games don’t revolve around darkness, psychological scariness, blood, and gloom as seems to be the trend with some in this genre. This is just me, but I prefer to solve puzzles without the lurking threat of zombies, mutants, monsters, and evil cabals (which is why I’m such a fan of the House of DaVinci games).

Longer and more complex than the original Blackthorn Castle (which I also liked), if you enjoyed others in this series, you’ll get your money’s worth on this one. The Enchanted Worlds and Rescue the Enchanter are my other faves from Syntaxity.

As with all of their games, this one does offer hints, but you shouldn’t need them, if you’re patient. This game, like all the others, also offers an ability to zip around the expansive map (over 100 different locations in this one), if you want to spend an extra $.99 for that feature (I don’t particularly mind tromping back and forth, since a second, third, or fourth look at a location often reveals something I missed the first time).

    Good addition to the lineup.

  • It’s hard. And the 8’s puzzle needs explanation

I just finished and it took a week playing - a few hours at a time. It’s definitely hard, but I will say that all but one puzzle can be solved without a hint and that was the 8s puzzle - I managed to solve it randomly and then watched the walkthrough afterward and I still have no idea what the logic was. But again, the other puzzles are all solvable and make sense.

As well in most scenes there isn’t much to interact with nor collect which isn’t an issue, but you may pass by a needed item in the two or three scenes they decided to sneak one in which was frustrating going back and forth to look for sure.

A note for the devs, once you establish that the user doesn’t have to click much to locate items, you can’t then halfway through the game hide something with a very small tap radius in a scene.

Anyway, I was happy to play a game from this dev that was more challenging than their other offerings.

  • Plenty to do

Really good gameplay and neat graphics.
Could only manage without partial help and fast moving map travel, up to the point where it got complex.
Otherwise would need an exceptional memory.
Didn’t need the wizard, but loved the atmosphere.
  • Worth the wait!

Extremely hard and had to cheat quite a bit. However, it was very enjoyable, as are all the other games in the series. I kept finding any excuse to sit down and play a bit more! Now I’m going to play it again and see if I can do any better second time around.
  • A must have puzzle

I have everything these developers have done and think they are all to a very high standard.

I completed the first one of these again recently having done it a few years ago, and forgot how enjoyable it was but this has raised the bar even higher.

It is a large puzzle with lots of areas and I didn’t want it to finish but I guess all good things come to an end.

Also for 99p the fast track is a no brainer

    👏👍🤗👍🏻🤓

  • Subpar with a side of meh

There’s no reward system with any of these Syntaxity games- 90% of the puzzles are solved by finding in-game clues verses using intellect. Once the puzzle is solved you find yourself facing another ludicrous puzzle instead of receiving inventory; then you have to travel all over the map bouncing here and back just to find more completely useless clues. Go to scene 8, then back to scene 43 then back to screen 5,627 haha, what a hassle!

The puzzles are often so obscure and nonsensical that even WITH the clue they still make no sense; they are completely void of reason. Seriously all the puzzles would only make sense to the developer.

All Syntaxity games are basically the same game over and over again with little to differentiate.

Nonetheless I find myself playing; it harnesses a moderate enjoyability through smooth controls yet mediocre environments.

  • Blackthorn castle 2

This is a great game to play, but you really need to purchase the hints & the move around thingy to make it easier
