  • Good Game, But Not a Big Fan of the Use of Slang

I like this game due to the realism in its environments and the message that wildlife should be protected, but the only thing I don't like about it is the use of modern slang, mainly used by the character Ines. She often exclaims "YAS!", a butchered form of the word "yes", when she's happy or excited about something, which leads me to believe that you made her do it just to show how "hip" and "cool" she can be with the kids. I don't like it when a game or cartoon uses outdated slang like "yas", which for some reason is still being used by some people to this day, to try to remain hip with today's kids. I think you could've done a better job. Maybe have Ines say something else in place of "yas"? Maybe "HEYYYY!" or "YOOOOO!" when she greets Alba in the beginning of the game, "Yay" or "Yeah" when they fix the bridge and get close to receiving all the petition signatures they need, and perhaps a cry of “YESSSS!" (with an E, not an A) when they finally get all the signatures. That might make the game a little better to play and not have Ines be such a cringy character. Other than that, it's a good game. I think you could do away with the modern slang, though.

  • Please please PLEASE ADD MORE!!!

I love this game! My 5 year old and I play together and it’s honestly such a great game for all ages. I just wish there was more! We have already done everything in the game, my son still plays and runs around the town or he has even restarted just so he can identify the animals again. I love how relaxing the game is, the music and animals sounds are nice and it’s not overstimulating for kids (or adults). The game has been so much fun that it has actually gotten us into bird watching in real life! I really wish there would be updates though, it doesn’t look like anything has been updated for over a year which makes me sad because it’s such a great game and has so much potential for more! I would love to see new challenges added, Like something to do with cleaning up the graffiti around town, or new animals to identify. Maybe errands you can do for the neighbors. Or even adding bugs and plants for identifying… this could be such a great game for getting people into natural science, I know it has for us!

  • We Need More!!!!

I’ve never enjoyed playing a phone game for this long in QUITE a while. It was absolutely wholesome and beautiful, as well as the message you were sending across about wildlife. I loved this game so much I was so upset when I completed all of my tasks and achievements, especially since there wasn’t a concrete ending to the story. I cannot express how much I neeeeed for you guys to add more to this game, whether it’s additional tasks or achievements or even a whole new setting like Africa or the Antarctic, I would absolutely pay for something more. Either way, thank you so much for your hard work 💕

  • Thank you so much for making this!!!!! ❤️

Okay so I got this game a long time ago and I have to say, I loved it! It made me feel like I was doing so much for the earth! And the story line is very nice. I beat the game and just loved it all! She saved the lynx from the fire and it’s just amazing! It was very nice how you got to take the photo’s and move you’re device around! I also loved how you got to identify and learn new animals. It’s also nice how you get to nod or shake alba’s head, for yes or no. It was a very nice game and I highly recommend it!!! It just help me feel better and if I see Trash on the ground or not in the trash I do that. Not that I didn't before but it helped me a lot. Thank so much for making this game!!!!!

  • Very sweet, but not quite there

Alba is full of wonderful thoughts on the environment, which in an industry that is all about using huge amounts of energy is refreshing. But it doesn’t quite get there. It is quite awkward to play with unfixed bugs from a year ago. The most obvious is that if you don’t start the game with your device orientated in portrait, the in-game phone image is upside down.

Additionally, the game is only in portrait mode unless you use a game controller, I gather. A great pity.

I am also thrown by the character’s age. From the story line, she is meant to be twelve, but the character’s size and actions are of a 5 year old, which doesn’t play well with some of the script. It ends up with this strange contradiction of a very small skipping child being allowed to roam free and talk to strangers, untangle birds from plastic, and deal with squirrels in pesticide.

So, a pretty game with a good message but very short and doesn’t quite add up.

  • Incredible game!

I absolutely love this game. It is thoroughly enjoyable even as a nearly 30 year old. I downloaded this during lockdown and it really helped me with anxiety. I just got drawn into Alba’s world. Even after I’d not played it for ages, there was still a couple of birds I hadn’t found months and months before, so I was able to jump back in and explore the island again - it felt just as fun as the first time.

  • Blown Away

If you came to Apple Arcade to find a cozy game, look no further. This is the first review that I’ve ever felt compelled to write for any app, if that tells you anything about the impact it had on me. I was searching for a game that could provide a beautiful visual experience with a captivating story line and stress free quests, expecting a downloadable app to only tick off one or two of those desires with maybe an hour of entertainment. I reluctantly started Alba, expecting a game geared toward children. What I found was a heartwarming and beautifully written narrative that caused me to nearly play the game straight through, revisiting it the next morning to reach the end. Saving and documenting animals, finding hidden objects, bonding with other characters, stopping to admire stunning scenery throughout a pretty large island… this game truly had everything I’ve been looking for, and played so easily on my iPad! I even found myself emotional at the end. I hope Apple Arcade continues to offer games of this style and caliber - I would be hooked. Thank you Ustwo, Plug in Digital and Apple Arcade for this beautiful experience!

  • Alba loves wildlife, and we love Alba.

While Alba features elements of open world design and exploration, it maintains the core of an arcade mobile game. Sessions are small, and gameplay is easy to pick up from where you last left off.

The hardest thing with Alba however, is putting the game down. Once you start, you’ll want to quickly run through the entire campaign and reach 100% completion. The game is short, leaving one wanting more gameplay. I can’t see developers leaving the game as is and not adding more content for players to keep coming back.

Alba not only serves as an amazing game, it proves the future of mobile gaming. Such games are pioneering and paving the way for mobile gaming. I will forever remember this game and it’s story, something never really seen before on a mobile experience.
